"Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" is a song by the American thrash metal band Megadeth. It was released as the opening track and lead single from their fourth studio album, "Rust in Peace," which came out in 1990. The song was written by Megadeth's lead vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine.
"Holy Wars... The Punishment Due" is known for its complex structure, intricate guitar work, and thought-provoking lyrics. The song is divided into two parts: "Holy Wars" and "The Punishment Due." The first part, "Holy Wars," deals with religious conflict, while the second part, "The Punishment Due," explores themes of justice and retribution.
The song has become one of Megadeth's signature tracks and is often regarded as one of the greatest thrash metal songs of all time. It showcases the technical prowess of the band's musicians and has been praised for its intense and dynamic musical composition.
I hope you all like this one. The first Megadeth video on the channel. I really didn't know what song to react to first but I ended up choosing this one. I have no idea who this band are and I'm looking forward to hearing more from them. Here's my reaction to hearing Megadeth - Holy Wars... The Punishment Due for the first time.

It's pretty obvious that you are now a head banger! That's great!
You are the best headbanger of all time.
THIS is what every true Megadeth fan WANTS to see.
Its just a banger, one of THE thrash songs ever produced. Not more, not less
mustaine is a musical genius
absolute!
But saidly, they never came up with those songs in that time
he is a god and a prophet. love him
My brother, you absolutely murdered that reaction! Keep being genuine, good vibes :)
thank you bro!
Welcome to THRASH METAL..... the lead singer used to be in Metallica... Enjoy.
Tbh megadeth was the best thing to happen!!!
@@IronMinerKing And still is 😎
thank you so much. hope you like my reaction to Megadeth - Tornado Of Souls ruclips.net/video/WeW7Z9eCL5s/видео.html
@@theneverenderreactswhile you are in a Megadeth kick you absolutely have to check out Lucretia. It is from the same album Rust in Peace. The whole album is an absolute masterpiece from front to back. Start to finish
@@PH13PH+1 on Lucretia. Or five magics.
When you loved “First Mistake,” I was just waiting for your reaction to “Last Mistake,” and you did not disappoint.
So far… Reaction of the year 🏆
means alot!! thank you
One of the best thrash metal songs EVER written 😁
AMAZING
My man had a life changing experience here 😂😂😂
LOVE it 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
I really did!
I'm a 52 year old metalhead who grew up on these guys, still my favorite metal band. Love the reaction, man. Keep it up! I'd recommend, from the same album as Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls, Five Magicks, and Lucretia. From one of their earlier albums (Peace Sells...But Who's Buying), i'd say check out Wake Up Dead, Peace Sells, Good Mourning/Black Friday, and My Last Words. Great stuff!
Agree strongly with all those recommendations.
Hangar 18 also. The whole album. ...ànd all the others too.
OMG! Good Mourning/Black Friday is the best song on the Peace Sells album!
And let me explain something... The ENTIRE Rust In Piece album is a masterpiece! Wait till you hear the Dawn Patrol!
Theres no one else like them. When I was a kid I found metallica n got a tattoo when I was a teenager, then I listened to megadeth for the first time after and felt like a dolt hahaha! I'm not gonna cover the first one but its fading. Ill get megadeth on my other and I'll let metallica continue to fade. They're my absolute favorite as well brother, got my cousin into megadeth and he can play their songs on electric like no tomorrow. He even bought a megadeth guitar, which sounds exemplary I might add and it has the rust in peice album cover on it.
Im going on 27 this year. Rip, thrash and kick some ass brother.
Apart from the drummer they are Still alive and still touring man... they've been going since 1983.
But with only one member of this lineup in the band 😁
rip nick menza
Yes, but last time I saw Megadeth, they sounded as good as ever even with only Mustaine left. I saw this tour in San Antonio, they were with Testament and Judas Priest. It was a great show.
This song is and always will be an example of pure perfection...
It was a blast watching this reaction, felt like I was hearing the song for the first time all over again.
Megadeth is Dave Mustaine, lead singer, rhythm and lead guitarist. Over the last 40 years, all of the other band positions have had multiple musicians fill them. If you like this song, let me suggest ‘Good Mourning/Black Friday’. Recorded 4 years earlier, ‘Good Mourning…’ has a rawer feel. There is a different drummer and second guitarist as well. The song begins slowly with a more melodic sound. It then kicks into 2nd gear and never slows until the end.
The drummer you watched is the current Megadeth drummer, Dirk Verbeuren. On this song the drummer was Nick Menza, rip. In the song I have suggested, the drummer is another great, Gar Samuelson, rip.
The first four Megadeth albums are all classic Thrash Metal. After this album, Megadeth albums became more radio friendly with a mix of heavier and light metal.
The whole Rust In Peace album is a masterpiece. Holy Wars was the big single release but there is a lot to explore. My favorite is Lucretia, the solo is exquisite. Tornado Of Souls is pretty good too. 🤘
Not only are they still around, but they're still putting out killer tracks. Check out "We'll Be Back" from their most recent album "The Sick, The Dying...and The Dead".
Love your reaction! This is a pinnacle, but their career span is truly an entire mountain range…. There is SO MUCH worthy material by this band.
this was the best line up they had with drummer the mighty nick menza who sadly passed,i saw them do this live on the clash of the titans tour back in the day in their prime.they were unreal live
Peak Megadeth, that was a killer tour
what a line up eric, slayer, mega, testament and suicidal.when slayer did mandatory and the end where jeff launches the apocalypse whilst tom does his poetry, these search lights started scouring the audience and as a 15 year old kid my head exploded.came out that gig that pumped on adrenaline it was like i was on something,oh and i was deaf haha.good times eric, have a good day mate @@m.ericwatson968
Same here. Clash was a great tour. First time I saw them was on the Peace Sells... tour.
@@marksmith7096 those were the days mark,we were spoiled music wise and didn't realize it haha
@stecumo6459 yep! I went to Donnington in the UK for about 12/13 years straight, and loads of gigs through those years. I'm 55 now. Last one was Corey Taylor and Nine Inch Nails in The Royal Albert Hall in London. And the Wife just bought us tickets for Download (which used to be Donnington festival) this year too. I ain't old yet! Lol. 🤟
Never seen anyone so enthusiastic about Megadeth, its amazing
Ive seen Megadeth twice and they sound just like they do in studio. Very clean live and so much energy
its so wholesome to see a guy just vibing the hell out of his mind to some of the underrated masterpieces that are forgotten now since the main genre is rap and trap.
all of this songs carry huge meanings, megadeth talks a lot about political things, check out metallica too, some of their songs just slap hard and have meaningful lyrics, like one of their most underrated songs called dyers eve, talking about the past of james hetfield (lead vocalist and rythm guitarist), not gonna say any more stuff, check out everything yourself.
its always nice to see some new people join the metal world, love this song.
"What could they possibly do?"
Buckle up my man you are in for a ride.
Outstanding reaction.
This Lp stacks up to anything. Legendary
Try out songs like "Sweating Bullets'" (one of my all time favorite music videos), "Tornado of Souls", "Symphony of Destruction", "A Tout le Monde", "Hanger 18", "Peace Sells" .. and more .. all absolutely fantastic pieces of music. You will love them!
your enthusiasm is hilarious, great reaction mate
Next up should be "Tornado Of Souls" - from the same album - "Rust In Peace", which is widely considered to be one of the greatest metal albums of all time.
thak you for your comment. this songs reaction is uploaded now
Tornado of souls is too overplayed and radio friendly, it’s a good song but idk it’s pretty tame compared to the rest and doesn’t show off all of their skills. Five Magics and Take No Prisoners are my favorites.
Yes, They are still together still touring. They just put out a new album about a year ago.
One of my favorite songs of all time!
Megadeth was my first two concerts.
Caught the tail end of the Peace Sells Tour. Then several months later, caught the start of the Rust in Peace tour with the band Testament. They kicked ass both times. 🤟
What this guy lacks is actual criticism, he makes up in real emotion.
As a band member, that's all I ask. Just worship the band.
Dave Mustaine is pretty old now but he's still kicking ass. Their last album was good
Big Metal Energy on this one.
This is the pinnacle of thrash metal songs.
This is the most animated reaction of music I grew up with when they came out. Congratulations 🎊🎈🎉🍾 bro🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯
This is widely considered to be the Greatest Thrash album of all time and I would have to Concur.
I’ve seen them six times, stood right in front of them in St Louis and watched the SHRED. They are absolutely incredible!
This song still keeps me hangin on hy the skin of my teeth. Never gets old. They were amazing live performers also. I was blessed to see them in Dallas TX, at Bronco Bowl. "Yes that's a bowling alley". It remains my favorite concert to this day. I was within spitting distance of Dave most of most of the time. Crowd surfing or in the mosh pit the rest of the time. I left bruised and bleeding from a split eyebrow, 4 pounds lighter and in a state of Zen. Metal is healing brother and Metalheads therefore tend to be the most kind and openminded you could hope to meet. It seems brutal when you see a big mosh pit break out. It is kind of brutal. No one is trying to hurt anyone. Its the simultaneous release of anger and agression through rough and tumble. Theres nothin but love among Metal fans.
I love your excitement during this. It is always beautiful to see people of all race, colour, and where they are from enjoying rock music. Your honest reaction and excitement made me subscribe
I saw this live 3 times in 1990 and 91..i was 18 years old. Unforgettable concerts . Front row for two shows
I've been listening to this music for over 30 years now, watching your videos reminds me of how I felt discovering it when I was a child.. thanks! Your energy and passion is genuine and this is so fun to watch.
Great reaction brother....that was good shit 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Dude I got so much joy watching you react to this! This song has magical energy
Went to a megadeth concert in 2006 with some friends who were going. I had never heard any of their music. This was the first song they played. It was insane, every song was so tight and well rehearsed. been a fan ever since.
In the top three greatest thrash songs of all time
Hell yeah dude! Welcome to thrash metal.
MEGADETH RULES, I'M 68 AND STILL HEARING MEGADETH AND WILL CONTINUE TILL I'M GONE, THE GROUP ARE FREAKING SLAMMING DOWN THOSE GUITARS, DRUMS!!!!!! ALWAYS MAKES MY DAY EVERY DAY GOD BLESS ALL THE FANS OF MEGADETH, AS WELL AS THE BAND MEGADETH THEY FREAKING RULE !!!!
After all these years, I still react exactly like this when I hear this song. I love it! Best album ever.
You just heard one of the BEST metal songs ever!
From a metal head, your reaction to the opening riff is a joy to behold. You absolutely get it 🙌
the first mistake last mistake part has always been my favorite
I find it particularly gratifying to observe the profound impact that world-class musicians can have on music enthusiasts, especially those who have had limited exposure to certain genres.
You’re a natural metal head! Welcome aboard!
The entire Rust In Peace album is absolutely fantastic.
Dave Mustaine is the Lead Singer, Songwriter and visionary powerhouse behind MEGADETH! He was called a Lyrical Genius when they first entered the scene! They are still around today but they don't tour like they used to. I saw them live several times and they kicked ass and blew my mind every single time!
Megadeth - Five Magics is a good one to react too next
From the same album :)
All these years later, my mind is still blown as well friend...
Was not expecting that breakdown at 7:40.. loved it
Still alive, still active.
They put out a new disc not so long ago, and are still on tour, supporting that release.
They are amazing live...and lucky for you, they still tour. You gotta check them out! ❤
Great reaction. Keep it going. Tornado of Souls would be a great follow up.
The whole album is great called rust in peace
Love seeing the birth of a Metal fan !!!! Have fun:)
Yes, my man, Megadeth are still alive though I am not sure if they are touring. I grew up with this music and remember when they showed this video on MTV for the first time. It rocked my face off!! Ran out to get the album as soon as I could!!! Your reaction just made me so happy!!!! To see you rocking out and being blown away by some of the greatest metal ever produced is such a treat. Keep it up, friend. Rock n roll.
SO MUCH PASSION I LOVE IT
They are still alive and I'm pretty sure they are still active.
My favorite song of all time. Thank you for a brilliant reaction, sir.
Check out "Peace Sells" or "In My Darkest Hour" from Megadeth next
will check em out, thank you for the comment
Awesome reaction to an awesome song! .. totally enjoyed it !!!
Going to see them for the first time Aug 3rd! Can't wait
Amazing reaction to one of the greatest Thrash Metal songs of all time - superb my friend, and yes they are very much still alive and active and dropped a brilliant album just last year 🤘
3:57 “what could they possible do?”
Wait for it bro😂
Now, THAT''S a reaction!!! Excellent, my friend!
Perfect reaction when hearing great metal. Keep headbanging 🤘
One of my favorite bands. Subbed so I can watch you have fun discovering more of their stuff.
They’re still this good live too! Saw them last year.
Your reactions are my new favorite thing to watch!!! Love this channel
Awesome reaction bro :)
I'm over 50, and i'm a huge metal fan since '78.
And Megadeth is one of my fav band, and Rust In Peace is one of the greatest metal album ever written.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Metal Music :)
Thanks man!! Means alot
I love how Dave got the idea for this song.
This my friend is Heavy Metal Gold!!! Showing the true power of the genre, that is Heavy Metal.
!
Yes, they are still around alive and kicking ass!
They have a world tour this year, perhaps in town near you.
Love the happy joyful reaction. Actually the best i've seen!🥳
Hey mun! Long time Megadeth fan here, and recipient of many concert ticket stubs for the same band. You only came up in my youtube feed because I watch a lot of Metal stuff here nowadays. But I gotta say, watching YOU "see" the beauty and execution of one of my favourite bands performing, gave me 'goosebumps' and I could see the band as they were for a brief moment. The drummer, Nick Menza, is no longer with us but Megadeth are still around and touring. If you liked that, try Coundown to Extinction by Megadeth. And after that maybe some Metallica, Disposable Heroes from the album Master of Puppets (you might want to just listen to that with headphones on and chill!) Cheers. It was really uplifting seeing your enjoyment. Be safe. Peace! (Liked and subscribed too).
I love this song so much and my neighbors always love it, I think that's what they keep screaming.
The first time I heard this song I was blown away 😳
Most energetic reaction I can recall. Kudos.
yes you do brother any good band comes close go. i went to alot of concerts in my life and its something i would never take away.
Glad you enjoyed it. It's a wonderful song.
Love to hear this the way he's hearing it for the first time.
I loved this I've been a megadeth fan for my entire adult life ,it was exhilarating watching you feel the music like us fans do everytime we hear them
"I need their names" I cant get enough of your reactions. So true at heart! 4:13
Thank you man! you made me remember how i felt when first hearing this when i was 13, you have a beautiful energy 👌
1. Their names:
Dave Mustaine - vocals and rhythm guitar
Dirk Verbeuren - Drums
Teemu Mäntysaari - lead guitar
James LoMenzo - Bass
2. and YES, they’re all still alive.
LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE METAL‼️
that is one of their best
Now you know how we felt dropping the needle on this back in '90. I love it Brother. The dark haired guitarist Marty Friedman is one of the greatest neo-classical/ shred guitarists out there.
Loved this reaction. The guitarist of Lamb of God said that Megadeth brought jazz to thrash metal. The guitar work was just so much more intricate than anything that had been done before in the genre.
my boy was sweating! i banged my head along with you my g, keep hard music coming!
They are definitely alive and definitely still doing concerts
Amazing reaction
Yes they are still alive and playing
Thank you sir for opening your choice in music and giving this its well deserved attention and chance to rock like we did in the 80's and 90's, i still have this cassette 😂.
Although I just stumbled onto your channel I already love watching your reaction videos!! Keep it up! 🤘and IMHO holy wars is one of Megadeths best songs
