I absolutely love this, thank you. I had planned to make a more formal jacket, as per the pattern, with the narrower collar, but I have completely changed my mind now. I've bought suede scuba and will be sewing it up as this one you've shown us. I have short hair, so the collar seam will need to be sewn wrong sides together! I will be wearing it to a wedding in July, over a viscose crepe dress. It's not a church wedding, so will be less formal. I can always make a more formal version later, maybe in a ponte.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Absolutely love your videos! You make everything look 👀 so easy ! I recently found your first video and cannot tell you how much I loved it! You are my favorite RUclips sewist…..
Bless you for this video! I just cut out this pattern. My solid black lining is a couple inches short. But my main fabric is a bit thick for Florida. Since it’s my first go, why not just make it unlined. The fabric I have is a mystery knit. The back is a fuzzier version of the front. Why not?
The Metra Blazer is a favorite of mine. This pattern is so well-drafted, and is such a flattering fit for me. I have made several. In fact I left one behind in a motel, called them, and of course they didn't have it for me! (Someone else got a custom jacket made with designer french terry!!) I was so sad I ordered the same fabric, and re-made the jacket. Love this pattern.
I have a RTW jacket similar in the same color. Except they used a thick sweater knit for the sleeves. I keep thinking I want to take the sleeves off and just make it into a vest. The sleeves make me look top heavy. Which I am but I don't want it accentuated. I will look for fabric like this. This is my favorite winter color. I found scuba for the pants also. If I can get used to elastic waist again. Thanks for being such a inspiration to me!
Great jacket and ‘sew’ very elegant! This method is probably more difficult than conventional sewing. I’ll save this for later, when I’m more intermediate. In the meantime, I have enjoyed every video and watch them again and again as I start new projects. Love to sew now. Your recommendations are spot on, including your choices in indie patterns. You are my go to for sewing.
Love it! I think I have a tan fabric with chocolate brown on the underside that I got on a clearance table. It might be perfect for this project. I have never sewn a blazer before but I have this pattern, I might have to give it a go. 😄
Oh my goodness! I thought I had the Metra pattern, I just checked and I don’t! I just purchased it quickly so I could get the sale price. I can’t wait to make this. Thank you for the great video and all the tips. Love it. You’re so excited telling us about your Metra, it’s catching. 🥰
I won’t be creating content for the channel about the two piece sleeve. It’s very specific and a video on that topic would get very very low views. I filmed it for my patreon page.
This was just amazing Karina! Thanks for sharing. I have to get this pattern now...hehehe Would you consider sharing how you modified the one piece sleeve to 2 pieced?
The sleeve modification is a very specific technique that is generally not what many people want to see. That means that this type of video on my channel would get extremely low views. I have filmed that for my patreon page.
This pattern is designed for fabrics that stretch at least 25% horizontally. It’s not a garment that very roomy. I don’t think boiled wool stretches at all.
Hi Karina, I know you have not seen the smaller shawl collar, but I wonder: do you think the shawl collar would lay properly using this unlined technique? Or is the weight of the larger lapel necessary to keep it from flipping up?

The striped blazer with the solid lapel is so chic! I love it!
This is a great idea for me, living in a warmer climate! This is a pattern I would like to get and make up like this.
I love your accent and you’re so knowledgeable. Thanks for the content. 😀
Thanks for the accent compliment, it’s just the way I talk after being exposed to many accents over my life :)

Lovely fabric gift. It may have taken a while for you to use it but definatly worth the wate. Gorgeous jacket.
Another great video. I’m looking through my stash to see if I have a fabric that looks good on both sides that could be used for this. Thank you.
Soo beautiful.!
I really like it and enjoy your videos!

Thanks so much 😊
Karina, that is Beautiful ! Thank you for posting
What a great idea, especially when you don't need something so heavy!
Perfect for our weather :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles same here, I've made the Octave coat & haven't had a chance to wear it 😔
I love this jacket! Beautiful on you. Thank you for the tutorial.
You are so welcome!

Thanks. A great use of pattern and fabric!
Glad you like it!
Another comment. This is genius. Love the idea. I have been looking at some cotton double knit and wondering if it would work for this.
Make sure it does not curl on the edges. If it does then I don’t think it would look the same as mine.

Fabric and pattern have been in my stash for a while. Pulling in out and getting to it. Thanks Karina for the inspiration
It is lovely!

Love this. I have the right fabric, I have had it for years.
Beautiful jacket Karina love the colours.
I printed my blazer last night! Sew… excited to get started 😀 thank you!
Wonderful!

Loved your Octave, and now will add Metra (boiled wool, so raw edge will be perfect)- thanks so much for sharing your creativity!

Interesting. I wonder how the raw edges will hold up to several washings. Thanks for your video!
This is my approach: gentle hand washing :)
I would not throw it in the sewing machine.
I love it!
It is beautiful ! 💪 love it
Could you show how you modify the sleeves, pls ? Once more lovely nd thanks for sharing

Great fabric. Brilliant hack!!!! Didn't you make a burgundy or red glissandro skirt? It would look lovely together xxx
I make a denim embroidered one and that would’ve gone with this color too.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles ooo cannot wait to see that!!

@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I will seek that out, thank you. I love learning these new techniques to raise my sewing game further :-)
Would a boiled wool work for this?

Hi Karina, I know you have not seen the smaller shawl collar, but I wonder: do you think the shawl collar would lay properly using this unlined technique? Or is the weight of the larger lapel necessary to keep it from flipping up?
I’m think if the fabric is heavy enough, the smaller rounded lapel will be ok too.
