Just found this video. Thank you. I just bought this pattern. Don’t be shy, you are so cute and have a wonderful figure and see how you are fitting and what the problems are would be helpful.. no one should criticize because it is brave of you to show us. Thanks.
These pants fit you great, well worth the effort in the toiles. I feel confident now to tackle pants. I think many women find some RTW stretch that fit, well kinda fit, buy several and just worry about the top of the outfit. Now we can expand our wardrobes. And color and print options.
Thanks for sharing!!! Pants are a nightmare for me, because I have a flat, wide tushy and a large belly in front, and smaller thighs compared to my upper body. Seeing your fit on these, gives me hope!! I really appreciate you sharing ALL that you do!!! Thank you, great video, and I love the pants!!!
Retia Aiken thank you. It’s a beast to tackle and all the work is so worth it. I had horrid wedgies and camel toe... not a good look. I think it’s not a process to be impatient with. I took me 3 attempts and multiple unpicking to have success. Thanks for watching:)
Yes please. I just bought woven fabrics to make pants. It’s so funny I was in my sewing room today looking for a woven pants pattern. Then I turn my iPad on there you were. I’m really excited to make some pants. I have a longer crotch curve and I’m only 5 ft. 3 inches. Funny.
Sandy Heller funny hey? We are made so differently aren’t we! For being tall I’m always making bodices shorter usually... while others are lengthening... for the pants the work was worth it :)
This pattern is on offer at the moment and I find it helpful to see if you have made the garment and what issues you encountered before rushing ahead. thank you for an excellent tutorial, would love to see an invisible zipper insertion at some stage. Beautiful finish.
Very nicely fitted pants and pattern matching. I am very much enjoying your videos it is so nice that you are sharing your knowledge and skills with us. If in the future you decide to modify this pattern for a fly front zipper please make a video of that process, I would love to see that.😊
Your Duet trousers fit you beautifully! Love the bright, colorful fabric you chose. Now that you've found your "pants block", I can't wait to see what you do with it! I'd like to see the pocket construction and a fly front version! Thank you so much, Karina.
I enjoy watching all of your videos. Appreciate your approach to working with patterns. Straight forward showing what works for you. It' so important that each one does that for themselves. As you said, everyone is different. Will be looking forward to what you do next. Especially if you choose another woven material. IMO, it's also important to understand how to work with fabrics that are not as forgiving as a two way stretch. Thank you for sharing.
Oldtimer Lee thank you for watching. I wanted the woven pant because the fit is more absolute and not dependent on the stretch in different stretch fabrics. I love linen, twil, denim and would love to make pants out of those woven fabrics. I know what I do is really “weird” for it works for me :)
Lady9tails thanks 🙏🏼, because I was testing and the fitting for a bit overwhelming... I couldn’t really film whilst I experimented. Next pair I’ll show more I promise :)
Karina, thank you for another excellent video. It has inspired me to start a pants project that's been waiting for months. The Duet designer's checklist is particularly helpful - it's helpful to see a breakdown of possible problems and their solution. Thanks again! 😀
These pants are super cute and fit you beautifully! I will be making jeans soon so I will be patient with the fitting process. This really looks like a great pattern.
NaturalDane it is because of the possibility to make in woven or knit. I was a good challenge for me and am happy to have persevered :). This is not to be rushed I think.
l love these pants on you!! You look fantastic!! and thank you for sharing all the problems and fixes!! i had seen this pattern advertised and didn't think I would make it...but after your video I decided to purchase it and make one...or more!! Thank you for sharing...sometimes you miss out on patterns because you think it's too hard or it won't suit...but when you see visually someone else try it out...it can change your mind!! Thank you again for taking the time to make the videos...it really is appreciated!!
Thank you for watching and I’m super happy I participated in this test. Had I not, I would have continued to avoid woven pants for longer than I already have!
Karina, your work is amazing! I am very surprised this is your first successful pair of woven pants! But not surprised with your final results because your sewing skills are truly stellar! This sounds like a great pattern with a lot of bonuses! Thank you for the very detailed review! And congratulations on a job well done! BTW, I love you colorful fabric too!
Myra Lorraine I made loads of pants in the past, back when I was skinny and sewing was easier lol. I lost my TNT pants pattern in 2009 and never made anymore. This is “the return” ... when my body has changed.
Great video! I will be sharing this with those that took my beta pants fitting class. You do a great job of sharing your pants fitting process and the issues you encountered. I love that support panel in the front. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Karina I would love to see a tutorial of how to do the pocket/tummy panel. I’ve been hoping for this for a while. Your tutorials are so great. Thank you
Gorgeous fabric, I need to get out of my boring comfort zone 😂😂😂 I would really like them to fit to the waist could I do this by lengthening the rise and then lengthening the darts. Looove the fit on you.
Know what you mean about that one piece pocket, I made the Pauline Alice Mirambell pleated skirt which has that all in one pocket, I really like it. Nice pants!
They look great and are a fantastic fit! I've just purchased that pattern (on your recommendation), but won't be able to make them for a while as we are away from home until the beginning of October now, so will have to wait until I return! As always,TFS 👍❤
You were such a brave soul and kudos to you. I just bought duet pants and thanks to you I might make a successful pair. I have a ? - how do pants stay up at the bellybutton?
Pants TERRIFY me, but I love to wear them, ha. They terrify me so much that I rather make a coat from a Burda Magazine (aka little instructions and lots of confusing tracing) than tackle a pant pattern from an indie company (aka excellent instructions and no tracing). Anyways, these look great on you and the fit is perfect as always in anything you make! Congratulations for confronting your fears ❤️
Sew Many Fabrics I totally get it. I am the same! Give me a complicated jacket any day over pants. But that’s no longer the case. One week of intense toiling and trial and error changed this for the future!
I've just subscribed & find your vlogs so helpful. I love how you get into the detail of a pattern, very very helpful for my learning. Thanks for all the work you put into your videos. I am certainly interested in making these.
So so helpful. I shall try this pattern. My next project is making a bodice block following your video. I’ve put it off but I need to do it before I make any more tops. Thank you! Struggles: 5’10” and and very long legs and short waisted so I prefer waistbands at the belly button or lower. The crotch depth seems too short in the front and then loose in the back. Hopefully this pattern will help me tackle this!
Crotch lengths are so individual. That was my main issue but trial and error got me to the right lengths. It takes patience and some ugly fabric to practice with.
Hi Katrina Love your pants ☺ Like to see turtorial about pockets and zipper in sideseam 🤔 Planning to make a skirt with pleats and pockets and zipper in sideseam but im little worried how to do that ,don't want to messup my beatiful fabric 😐
Paula Mattsson I actually prefer the zipper at the back, my skin is less sensitive there. I don’t know if I’d purposely do one in the side seam. Because this was a pattern test I’m not at liberty to change where the zipper is.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles thank you for your answer I'll change zipper to backseam 😉 belive that will be much easier to insert 😁have a nice day Love your vlogs 😘
Paula Mattsson also the hip curve seems to distort in shape with a zipper there. For a skirt/pants my preferred is backseam and use a centered insertion or a lapped insertion :). Invisible zippers are flimsy.
Those pants are a great fit and the shorts too! You look great in them. Thank you, thank you! Just the kind of pattern I need for myself and my girls, we are all so different in height and weight and sizes! What an effort you put into the exact fit! And you have several wearable toiles for when the weather gets hot . Different subject, do these pants have enough movement that you can ride a bicycle?
I need to do this, thank you! I am 5 10" and my inseam is 36, so I am also long legged. I've never attempted this for the exact same reason, but now I want to. LOVE you videos, I think I can do this.
