Ryan is about the same age as Michael Phelps, and Phelps retired because he is 34, and this guy is still hanging in there...holding his own world record! Amazing!!!!

Phelps hasn't given up himself, he's still fit as sick. I wouldn't be surprised that he could have won this race had he wanted to. If not, give him a month and he could have won. winning time was nearly 4 seconds off the world record pace.

@@dylancolon9756 He used and IV version of a vitamine, and you can't have that in your body a certain amount of time before a test. That's why he lost consideration for the 2019 world champs and panamerican games. Before that he was suspended for the Rio incident.

It is amazing to see Ryan Lochte still holds the world record which is like 9 years old and still competing to this date. 9 years is a very long time to stay competitive and he is very dedicated.

I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and this athlete didn't care about our reputation at all (which is already very low towards most of the 'north hemisphere'). That's why he has such a terrible reputation here in Brazil, and as I can see for many americans as well.

Dad bod lochte, but what about these skinny lads?, 200m is still a speed swim I think, and as I remember all speed competitors always looked a little jacked back in the day because the explosiveness they required. Even in my amateur competition days when I was a teenager I could see bigger guys.

200 IM requires more muscular endurance than strength. While strength is important if you can maintain your speed for longer you’ll do better. The skinny guys probably have the leaner slow twitch muscle fibers. They probably aren’t even skinny though.
