I'm just a simple person i see my chemical romance i click it
We all are.
@@AinzNyt yes we are
Lol! In my 40s and still simple and love them
Me too 😅
I was so excited when I saw MCR! I'm obsessed
I would definitely DEFINITELY check out desert song. He was purposely sleep deprived and drunk so he could experiment with his voice
One of my favorite songs. He sounds so raw and emotional 💜💜
well that song was about his drinking problems
@@shortkiddo5013 not sure if that’s true but ok?
One of my faves 😭💜
@@shortkiddo5013 not really? It was more about life on a road
are we not gonna talk about ray toro's Beautiful backup vocals?
absolutely!! he has the voice of an angel, i love his solo work!!!
OMG yessssss I love his voice
I think the New Jersey accent does have a lot of open vowel sounds, but when Gerard is just talking he doesn't push those open vowels as hard as when he is singing. It just seems that he naturally pushes them more vocals.
God, I love MCR so much. Listening to their live concerts makes me want to rock out.
Jersey is heart
I’m from Jersey and I have no clue lol
it's just a jersey thing.
what’s impressive too is that he was such a heavy smoker for such a long time and his voice is still in good shape. fantastic performance, wonderful analysis.
It’s possible! I’ve smoked for 16 years and still can hit clear soprano notes
Smoking has very little bearing on singing ability. I smoked for 11 years and just quit vaping a month ago. I sing rock and pop covers 4-5 nights a week. Same goes for drinking. You'd have more trouble singing if you ate too many tomatoes.
He can also scream like a maniac, but his vocal chords arent turn up
Omg he smoke AND the México City altitude Is 2200 Msnm make imposible to Foreigners breath.
@@C-mereSSBU LMAOOO MJKDNHGSBAJKHDSGBA
Something that also strikes me is his mic technique: in a live situation he keeps his mic reasonably far from his mouth. That is a great indication of his potential power.
well, sometimes he *literally* eats his mic. but other than that yes.
that's just cus he's gotten electrocuted so much from licking the mic so now as soon as it touches his mouth he recoils
Um well um well uh I uh... danger days gee *eats mic*
Beth: He says "on" so open that it sounds like "ahn"
Me, from Chicago: "So that's not how everyone talks normally?"
Detroit here. Same. Lol
As answer, read backwards "on" XD
same! i’m also from chicago lol
It's mostly related to American (and similar) accents. European accents will differ severely
Open vowels, that marvelous thing that makes me understand english lyrics almost perfectly at first hearing but not my english teacher OuO
(Im not english ofc)
Gerard Way is a really underrated vocalist. If I recall he said he never cared about vocal lessons that much that's why he always struggled lived and he was out of breath sometimes but the most that I like about his voice is his raspiness and the amount of emotions through his voice. It's so unorthodoxe and unique
This is probably the last song in the set. Knowing mcr he's probably completely gassed by this point. I'm amazed he can sing at all
@@robertopasqualini9399 this was only the 5th song in the set
who cares? as long as he is apreciated by his fans is okay.
@@seanp25 Gerard moves A LOT on stage. He jumps and runs and does a lot of theatrics. He definitely runs out of breath too fast bc he's untrained but it still makes sense for him to be so out of breath after all that.
@nixthevamp2844 He just not that great of a singer, which is OK. MCR is in like my top 5 favorite bands, but the emo/ punk pop style of music pairs well with his style of singing.
I wish she'd reacted to Ghost of You instead.
same the first time I heard ghost of you I got chills
Iiiiii neverrrrr SAID ID LIE AND WAIT FOREVER
@@sxyph7358 I think I listen to ghost of you and I always get chills
@I'm a person trying to person sure that’s your opinion, but his vocals are more interesting in the ghost of you
But but but this is the emo anthem bro cant go wrong with it
he doesnt even warm up his voice before he sings and used to smoke cigarettes and drink a lot and his voice is still awsome
Just one of those freaks who ooze natural talent :(
He still doesnt return my lighter
He definitely does warm up though
Me: "ooo my chem..."
*gets g noted*
Me: "NOOOOO"
they are back, it can no longer hurt us :)

I was going to see them last year if Covid didnt happen. Lets hope I can get the opportunity to see them soon
I was going to see Tool. Guess not now if ever..
Same!
I seen mcr back in the early 2000's.. Was a damn good show.
Me too :(
same //:
I love how Beth can seriously discuss the vocal technique of so many different styles of singers, and always with such enthusiasm.
i feel like the balck parade i such a hard song to preform, the energy and power and tempo that makes this song so powerfull just seem very hard to keep up with. you can get see him get a bit tired at some points (which if i remember correctly this was either the end or towards the end of this show, so it makes sense) but he still pushes through like the absolute legend he is!!
This whole album was written without considering the live performance, I feel. Its an amazing listen, and I love every track, but its so technically difficult throughout.
I actually sing the black parade silently there's some kind of energy in that song when I sing it
5th song
Still not the hardest song to perform according to him. He's said "It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish" from Three Cheers is the hardest song to perform live. I'd believe it, the amount of fry screams combined with operatic cleans there is insane.
I love how you said balck parade because in the original video for this concert the time stamps also say balck parade 🤣
I bet Gerard doesn't think about all these things when he was on this performance. He's just, well, him.
i am a Simple Emo Guy who sees MCR and clicks
hey me2 but im a girl, u got discord?

Yo no pude ir... pero me encantaría verlos cundo COVID nos deje. Ahora de 34 podré disfrutarlos de otro modo. Que padre que los pudiste ver
I love that she always talks about the effect vocal choices have on the audience. It’s nice to hear about what about the way an artist is singing contributes to the song beyond just things like the more technical aspects of singing.
I always feel so lucky to have seen them in concert before they broke up. I hope to get tickets for my daughter and I now that they're back together.
He hasn’t have major vocals lessons but still one of the greatest singer of the world ...what does it that tell you?
i think he had a little training by his grandma? i feel like i read that somewhere, but yeah overall he does some AMAZING things with an untrained voice
I dunno......what does it tell us......?
Also asking this genuinely, because I'm also learning singing and i just want to know.....
@@naynasingh594 that if you born with natural talent you don’t need major vocals lessons, real talent always shines, there’s nothing wrong with singing lessons but great voice is a gift and not everybody have that talent
@@tape-6 He had a choir teacher that fell in love with his vocals in either middle or high school. The teacher gave him a bunch of lessons and helped him experiment with vocals, just btw. That's what I remember from an interview,, at very least.
@@jorgemetal9014 I have to disagree. Talent is not something you’re born with. Although he didn’t have any major vocal lessons, he definitely over time figured out himself how to sing comfortable and really well. You can tell by the older MCR shows and songs he really didn’t know what he was doing but slowly figured it out. It’s a process. Plus listening to what other vocalists are doing with their voices and trying to replicate that in a way
That first note happens and suddenly I am a teenager. This song defined many people in my generation
The version of this song from their live DVD is cool. He comes out on a hospital bed
3 band never disappointed me when they performing live. they voice really good when live
1. Green Day
2. My Chemical Romance
3. Queen.
Well said 👏👏👏
I was honestly walking into this with a bad impression. I know a lot of people dislike his vocals because of how he pronounces things, and other things. But I was very surprised to see actually enjoying it and slightly dancing to it. Gerard is a very big inspiration for me, as is the entire band. They’ve gone through so much, and it makes me sad people dislike them.
Seeing you enjoy it made me so happy. 💛
( Also off-topic, but your accent is amazing. You remind me a lot of Merida from Brave. )
I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert once. They put on a great show.
Me too, back in 2008. The way he sang "Cancer" was hauntingly beautiful. The whole concert was oustading.
Wow y'all are so lucky. I became a mcr fan this year and I wish I could've seen them when they were still an active band :/
@@lights8383 in most places reunion tickets are still being sold on ticketmaster!!
I love them for about 12 years and never had this chance (I was a teen). You’re so lucky.
@@hilol2220 yeah I got tickets too and I really hope to see them in concert!! :D!
Gerard Way has one of the most unique and raw vocals and it will always always be music to my ears.
As someone who only is able to do extremely distorted vocals I wish I could sing clean and powerful like this
Practice dude. You can get there with practice.
@@chuleta441 thanks for the encouragement! \m/
For some motivation, being able to sing properly (even if you can't do the right tone or pitch) can drastically improve your screams/yells
As someone who is only able to do really clean vocals, I wish I could do distorted vocals
I would love to see a reaction to a live version of MCR's House of Wolves or I Don't Love You. Both have great vocal parts to examine.
Ghost of you, Desert Song, Cemetery Drive also...
I love how the vocals don’t sound exactly the same as the album
Indeed, he was a lot more reserved.
Maybe because of his age, health, or simply conserving his voice to last the entire concert.
@@randomkitty2555as Chris Liepe puts it, vocal budget plays a big part into it! A studio gives you breaks and re-takes; a concert is an endurance test to the voice
Please React to
My Chemical Romance => The Light Behind your Eyes
LOVEEEEE that song!!
probably one of their most underrated/unnoticed songs
@@davidjenkins7062 agreed!
omg yess that's my fave song rn!!!!!
That song is a masterpiece
You should react to Cancer from the same concert, his voice is amazing!
OMG! i'm so happy to see that you're finally checking out gerard's vocals! you HAVE to react to some more of mcr's live performances; i think you'd really appreciate "Helena" and "The Ghost of You" Live Acoustic at 98.7FM Penthouse ((:
I just freaking love Gee Way, I saw this video and was like CLICKKKK
Omg, I love that you did Mcr. Thank you! A lot of emo bands have that twang and high shouty kind of voice, but Gerard is weird. Some think that he had an unhealthy way of singing, but as you clearly said, he's teachnique is actually quite good. He sings in such a particular way, you will always know it's him because he has just a weird but somehow charming style. In lots of his songs he tries to convey dark emotion, such as anger and pain and lots of punk bands do this, however I think that Mcr came to be really big because they were just so raw and real and that is one of the aspects that made them great.
Now that you did something great for us the emos, would you mind listening to One Ok Rock, please? Maybe their official live videos from their ambitions tour, such as 'We are' or 'Cry out', both are great. Their Vocalist is just amazing and I would like to hear your opinion. Thanks again, great vid.
Beth! You should react to Sleep by MCR from the same concert, its a really difficult song to sing, and i'd love to have your opinions on it.
Ah man, if only this was the live performance featuring the one and only Brian May on lead guitar! :')
Still, always gonna have a lot of love for these guys
Love the song and love you Beth, keep it up. Cheers from Brazil. ❤️
I love singing along MCR because of Gerards way to make it funny and interactive. There's so much to do during this song...
thank you for reacting to this! my favorite band!
😁😁😁 Thanks for this, Beth!!! Made me smile the whole 9 minutes! And you're getting more beautiful everyday! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hi
Can you please react to "Given up" by Linkin Park, and talk about the 17 sec screem, and how is that possible from technical/vocal point of view? Thank you :)
I've never seen an analysis of this particular live performance, that was amazing, thank you. To understand how he can sing those ...my English and my keyboard can't write the right words, but okey I think I get it. Me is even more amazed he can keep at it a whole consert like this when I know he was smoker.
Hi Beth. Love your reactions. This particular song/video I watch all the time. My favorite one. I think they will tour this year. Would love to be in the crowd
Maybe next time will be The Cure and Just like heaven?😊
After this I’m going to watch that concert. I think it’s one of their best live concerts ever!!! MEXICO YOU ARE SOOO LUCKY
i seriously recommend watching more performances from this concert!!
PLEASEEEE DO RAY TORO!! His singing is to me just as amazing as Gerard's, although a completely different experience! (He's the Curly Haired GUitarist lol)
I’ve been waiting for this..
OMG Beth, I love you for this!
You know I had to click very fast when I saw the title btw love your work
Hey Beth Roars, you should take a listen to Oesch’s Die Dritten singing Jodelmedley they are an interesting band I recently saw, especially the singer who does insane yodeling.

Man, how I wish I'm at that concert, and if I do, I'll never forget the moment.
They're so iconic 🤘
God, I can't wait to see them live again!!!
Would love to see you follow this up with their cover of Under Pressure with The Used, very entertaining performance!
You should check out them with The Used doing Under Pressure! It’s amazing and I got to see them do it live! It was amazing!
This is one of them songs that anytime I hear it I can’t help smiling when I sing it
Oh my GOD i am really excited to watch this
Gerard is my nr 1 favourit singer. For me its about the passion in his voice, i belive every word he is delivering. Theres been a lot of great front men, male and female, but G.W blows my mind :)
Gerard whether it's live or recorded sings with more personality, attitude and emotion than anyone else. Prove me wrong.
I can't wait to see them in October! Covid better not cancel it again!
I would really love for you to react to more My Chemical Romance songs. 🖤
I never thought about a New Jersey accent in regards to this band but a lot of the punk pop/emo bands would sing w/ a West Coast accent that has a lot of open vowels. Like how they speak in California. As in CAHL-I-FORNYA lol
Man I love this channel
Beth is the definition of amazing
I would have loved it if you could have explored how he (and many other singers) will choose to sing variations on the parts they recorded in studio when they are in a live setting. Gerard Way does have a very high set voice, but I feel that it's rare for us to actually hear those highest bits outside a studio setting.
I'd love to see you react to Cancer. The live performance from Mexico City is awesome.
I would love to see you do an analysis of somebody to love by Queen, live in Montreal.
It may be the most pure vocal display I've ever heard.
i went see them live in birmingham. the whole gig was an experience . they did both albums. and it was a long and very good gig. gutted when they split.
Id watch a whole hour of someone analyzing his vocals
Have you heard 'Taboo' by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Peter Gabriel? It's my go-to whenever I want to get a hit of pure vocal showcase. So dynamic and emotional.
you and him are awesome!
this is a bit of a strange request, but I’ve never seem these types of videos done for vocal synths. specifically, I think it would be interesting if you looked at something like “higher” or “conquerer” (both of which were at performed at aria live) and talked about your thoughts on virtual singers, and how the vocals compare to human singers
Thanks for reaction my Favorite singer
your gonna make me want to watch the whole performance again
I would give the Post Modern Jukebox cover a look, I love it. 👏
El mejor concierto de mi vida!!! Gracias
What a sweet reaction!)
This video makes my soul happy.
Please for the love of all that is good give us a review of Foundations of Decay 🤩🤩
Hey beth!! I really like your videos. How about reacting to one of the best singers of UK history: Morrissey. He has a great voice and his songwriting is amazing!
How about Annie Haslam from Renaissance? 5 octave range. Recommend Carpet of the Sun.
I love his voice
I prefer the studio version, more of a challenge to sing. But he's a great singer.
Thanks Beth.
Pls Diana Navarro “ El Perdón”, mindblowing!
For me the video for this adds to whole experience
May I suggest you please to react to the band Trillium, the song Coward. Their vocalist, Amanda Somerville is one of the greatest voices of our times and it's so underrated that it hurts.
His vocals on mama were inside insane as well you should do a video on that song
he is an artist!!
Hi Beth, love your reactions.. I too am Scottish..and I'd love you to react to Scottish singer Billy MacKenzie of the Associates, a new wave type band of the 80's/90's, originally from Dundee, he died in 1997..The song is called 'Party Fears Two'...I was just listening to another voice coach reacting to Dimesh and thought...Hold on ,we had a Scottish singer as good as that (You know what we're like)...
Loved this reaction, would be sick to see you react to pvris
Curious to see the vocal technique for Pierce The Veil- Floral and Fading.
take on me, unplugged by a-ha. it is beautiful
I've seen this video before, and it strikes me as something like the last song of the last show of a long tour. I bet he hit a lot more high notes at the beginning of the tour! But there's no lack of energy!
My Chemical Romance - The Ghost Of You (Live Acoustic at 98.7FM Penthouse) is a really interesting look at his voice stripped back of the theatrics
Liked, just because it energized you while listening,
I stumbled over your channel and I love itt! I would love to see you react to who are you or for life by Xiaojun of wayv, both covers, I have a lot of interest in his voice and I feel like he still has a lot to show in the future
Some of gerard open vowels reminds me a lot of his britpop and Bowie influence. Like Bowie's south london accent has those open vowels
My all time favorite band 💛
He is amazing
i enjoyed watching you enjoying the rock music 😆😆
