ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

I want you to talk for 900 hours about this song. 😉
If you get 133 likes on your comment I will
I agree @Ryan Dickson. Rebecca talk and talk and talk, please?
I third this opinion!!
If I could only give it 133 likes. I WOULD!!
Her voice is definitely my kryptonite.
His wife passed in 2016. They were together for 23 years. I felt bad for him.
@John Hardesty Why?? If you hate him now it's a u problem not a him problem btw 😁😁
@@itzjessiexoxo1773 they said they hate the person who commented because they didn’t know and is probably sad from it not thom

Rebecca, if you were to say if he was about to crack and cry while singing, well yes, he was, you can hear all those little pitch issues because he's singing while almost crying. And actually he cries after the "she runs" part, if you pay atention you can not only see him wiping his face, but also after "whatever makes you happy, whatever you want, you sou fu**ing special" right there, while finishing the word "special" you can see a tear dropping from his face. I always cry with him in that part, I can feel the crack in his soul!

@@jameshannagan4256 Haha yep! But maybe he was emotional whilst on the gear!
You don‘t have to be the best singer if you put all your soul and emotions into a song.
Ah, I'm not begging to differ.... But look up Mitchell & Webbs skit of a talent show performer pouring her heart and soul into her lacklustre performance ;).
Meanwhile I'm going to quelle my emotions, dry my eyes, and stop watching Radiohead for a little while.
If only that we're always true....

"does anyone hate it?"
yeah actually, Thom York hates his own song lmao
He hates it because they got sued and lost a copyright infringemnet for stealing the music from The Hollies "Air that I Breathe". Love this song, but listen to the music in both, they're exactly the same
Karmanon
Nah, Thom hates it because people only recognized them for Creep and only that back in the ‘90s.
Thom hated performing the song because it related to a past experience he never wanted to revisit. Long story short, he was obsessively in love with a girl in his school. So much so, he followed her around and stalked her. And that was the back story to this song. It was a feeling that he didn't have anymore. Its not that thom doesn't like his own song or hates how popular it is, he just doesn't like the meaning behind the words as it only drags him back to that dark time.
@@tdatrim Not really. It shares a chord progression during one moment.
@@tdatrim actually hates it because when creep came out it was such a big success that when people heard the name Radiohead they thought of creep instead of their more creative/influential work.
Their album ok computer is considered one of,if not the greatest album of all time and one of the most influential.
And their 2001 album KID A Is considered the greatest left turn in music history.
And their 2007 album in rainbows was nominated for album of the year.
Everything about this song is imperfect, which is exactly what makes it perfect. It exactly mirrors the emotion of the song.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug
but im a creep… 😢 im a weirdoooo 🙁
I need a Tums
its is imperfectly perfect 👍
He mumbles thru the song with little energy but tons of emotion so he can melt your whole life down with the sustained full voiced "Ruuuuuun". Then he goes soft and cuddles with you for a verse to make sure you are okay.
What a remarkable way of putting it.
Accurate. I always cry...not ok at all really
I always felt he mumbled it because he fucking is so done with everything...until he has to explain why...and then boom...I am crying.
The contrast between the verse and chorus is contrived and is absolutely, utterly perfect!
The mouth stretch is coke, dear.
I was think the same hehehe
I'm like, "aww you poor thing, you've never had your dome blown off before". 😂😂😂
I was about to write the same...
Not!!! You vocal cords contract with coke to the point that your voice would be distorted
Mianti69 and you think that famous band in 70’s, 80’s, 90’s cares about his vocal chords?😂
Yeah that mouth stretch is called "gurning" it's from coke or MDMA haha
Fuckin A !!😬 Lmfaooo
Those were the days haha 🤘
That's the 1st thing I thought too. Lmao
Or you just focused way too intently at ratchet and clank as a kid and now it's a habit 🙄😂 I thought it was called keening
It's called geeking.
can't stop laughing at "shippin chips mate monkey business" lol
1:00 lockjaw. Thom gets it from time to time and was adjusting his jaw to avoid it.
Cocaine makes you do that too.
@@gustavovega5846 It's a genetic condition caused by opening your mouth too wide. It causes the hinges to dis-align. I used to get it.
@@staleybuckleyhoonccweiland6880 Ya, he actually had debilitating rheumatoid arthritis as well. :(
@@gustavovega5846 BJs also give certain people lockjaw but I don't go around accusing people of giving too many of them whenever they adjust their jaw. 😄
@@patrickrasmussen2666 That sucks. I have RA, but I'm lucky enough to have been in remission for years. It's incredibly painful. I didn't know he had it. 😢 It's even more tragic for a musician. When mine flared up I physically could not bend my fingers to play piano.
It seems to me that he is being pitchy on purpose.. gives that feeling of despair a bit more than singing right on key..
Rebecca, he's fried like a fried Twinkie during this performance, when stretch's his mouth the drip is going down his throat from alot of blow, and he's cracking his eardrums to open them up.Awesome performance, but that's what's going on when he does that, love you Rebecca you should be a model,it wouldn't phase me if you were, rock on!
Exactly!! How ironic & wonderful this song is, the man singing it has such a special voice!!!
So mad when Jim Carey sung it & comments said
“You don’t need to be able to sing to do creep”!!!
Biggest load of bs I’d ever heard!!!
For those of you who don't know why he sang the song with so much power....
The women who he wrote the song about was present in the concert and that's the reason we see so much emotion in it..... He hasn't sung this song for a long time because he doesnt believe in it now ..... Although people adore it but he thinks that this song doesn't defines him.
I've never heard that. I was told that the woman he wrote it about had died... And this was the first time he had sung it since she had passed. I'm not arguing with you at all... I was just interested in what you said.
@@bethannprather1462 But who is correct?? I need to research men..
@@lt.dantaylor7185 I'm curious to know. Pretty iconic song and performance
you are right, but partly. Thom's wife passed away around 2016, and he sang this song again after 7 years of not singing it, right after his wife death. About the bit of the woman in the concert, i dunno
@@bethannprather1462 well it'll stay a mystery i guess...

I always get the feeling that you "get it" when someone is projecting true passion and conviction in a song. Thank you so much for your articulate description. So insightful. I love you.
I think one of the coolest thing about her videos is that she acts like it's the first time she has heard these songs, when many of them are hit songs, that she must have already heard 100 times.
When he hit that " Run " with full of emotion and expresion , it brings all the sad memories.
"I'm not going to go down that road with crying"
Me, wiping my eyes- yep...
Everyone relates to this song. Anyone who has ever felt the bittersweet heartache of unrequited love relates to this song. I am so sad that Radiohead turned from it in later years because it resonates with millions of people around the world. It is truly one of the greatest songs ever written and they should be proud of it.
Radiohead has made at least 30 songs better than Creep.

This women is the healthiest human being i ever saw, and I love her... Reason, don't know really.. .
I don't think anyone who relates to Creep is "healthy", man. It's an oxymoron 😆
**Cries in Radiohead**
Tsumichama Nyan If you’ve experienced something that allows you to relate to the song, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re unhealthy now. It could mean that you’re self-aware about the past tribulations you’ve endured, & though you’re no longer in that state of mind, you can still feel compassion for the past version of yourself. 🤷♀️ Just a speculation on another possibility.
I concur.
Rebecca, your dry sense of humor is my favorite kind and you always make me smile. You have me in stitches from laughing.
Haha that's awesome 👍😄
Lol I always love her random phrases she says whenever she really gets into the songs. They always make my day haha. 😂
Until you said about the pink cup, I've never realized how much pink is in your set

I love Radiohead. Love the glasses. Creep is probably my favorite Radiohead song. Nice seeing you nerd out and dance to it. You're awesome.
You hit the nail on the head! Cry if you need to! Rage and tears. Emotionality is what makes music genuine.
I will Never get over this performance. It's absolutely perfect. The emotion, the style, the power....everything about it....It hits me right in the gut and heart EVERY TIME.
I've had a hand-full of very dramatic break-ups happen to me because of my love for the bands and vocalists you cover on your channel.
Seeing your passion and respect for said musicians really has brightened my spirit and helped me get out of a 5 year slump of not being able to enjoy music.
Thom yorke gives us his soul for everybody to see. So awesome his talent is the alpha and omega of vocal performance very few vocalists achieve this and he is one of the best.
He was crying at the end of that note
This is by far, my favorite of your reactions. The way you react as if you can't help yourself is absolutely endearing. Please don't ever change. I hope you are well these days.
The pitch “issues” are in cadence with the music. As you said, it brings you in and then, boom, he brings you to his dark place while taking you on a rollercoaster ride of emotional lows. The distortion matches the distorted ways of the mind. It’s perfect.
So glad you did this song! :) Radiohead is epic. LOVE THEM..

You did it again! You gave me chills to a song I've heard hundreds of times by just the way you describe it
Thom miraculously pulled off The Smiths " The Headmaster Ritual " I think he would be proud that you did Creep justice. Nice.

"fish n chips mate, monkey business!" ...A little too excited there Rebecca...5:50 haha:) Love Radiohead, and love your channel!
I got to hang out with Radio head after their very first concert in the United States the tour began in Arizona, the singer of Radiohead was the nicest guy he gave us his autograph we drank beers together, the next day the cranberries played in Arizona they had the same tour manager for Radiohead and The cranberries both shows were GREAT!!!
Thom accepts and admits that he's rude, so calling him the nicest guy might actually piss him off.
@@campuo6202 well that night he was so kind and was so happy to give us his autograph and to drink beers together, if he has changed all I can say I was blessed enough to see his gentle side.
@@godsspeedify he's quite moody like that, lol
Your passion and intensity are mesmerizing! Your sense of humor is delightful! I think I'm in love!
5:52 that's THE moment ;)
Street Spirit (Fade Out) is just gut-wrenching, reminds me of like funeral wailing at the end. And Thom has said in interviews what the song means and where it came from, and how it kills him to sing it. How he feels bad for the audience when they sing along, all happy and such. He compares it to taking a sick dog to the vet to be put down, but it's happy and wagging his tail the entire trip there.
Best version I've found....

Rebecca, I really appreciate the way you break down and assess songs and specifically vocalists of course. You do a great job of talking about what you do and don't love even when the vocals are not perfect just like all us human animals. Glad I stumbled into your RUclips series.
you have the ultimate reaction to this song..... you feel it... you live it... you are emotionally involved.... i have watched your reaction many times..... awesome job... how you lose yourself within the moment.......
Tom Yorke : the man who put his soul in his voice
Phil Renard - Thom, :) & yes. :-)
For me it was Joe Cocker. You are so beautiful is amazing. To each his own though.
Also Roger Waters, you can here the emotion in his voice on The Wall.
You make me feel a song more than I have before. And that’s why I subscribed to your channel
''what is that?''
me : coke
That's what I was thinking
It’s coke for sure.
its after car accident 1982
HeLLb0T lmao yessss
His jaw kinda locks and he does that to prevent it
He has an eye lid disorder which is triggered by jaw movement, that's why he sings with his eyes closed mostly and noted for not moving his mouth much. The song is about this and his insecurity..... perfect body/soul, i'm a creep
The mouth stretch is because of ear problems. As someone who's had ear issues (impacted wax, infections etc) this is a behaviour that can happen as a result. Our jaw bones connect to out skulls right under the ear. Our biology has evolved in a way that our ears help get cleared by chewing food. It's similar to how regular walking help digestion, particularly bowel movements.
Thom exhibited this behaviour around 1996 to 1998.
OMG THANK UUU that makes a lot of sense!! idk where ppl got the idea he was snorting coke LOL
He's stretching the muscles he's going to need later in the song for the 30 sec full gaping belt at about 5:50 to 6:20. It looks quite cold and he would have tore his jaw muscles without warming for that. He also wipes a bit of drool away afterwards... :-)
I think he wipes a tear, and the stretch is probably coke
Rebecca if the Song makes you cry, cry. Great music moves you, stirs feelings and sticks with you. That's what what makes great music great, that's what makes it stick with you always.
He actually hatted singing this song.
You are such a freak .... that’s why I keep coming back to your videos.... much respect
So much passion from Rebecca, I love it

All that was in my head was "I didn't raise you in a barn, Thomas Edward Yorke."
Along with the lyrics that so perfectly express despair over a love never realized, what makes this song great is how dispirited Thom is for the verses, then kicks into intensity for the chorus, especially that incredible second chorus, when he is literally wailing his despair.
The juxtaposition of the downbeat and the anguish is what makes this song so wonderful and relatable, regardless of how he now doesn't like his own song.
Fact no one asked for: My Iron Lung is a sarcastic response to Creep's popularity.
Sarcastic response or just an attempt to recreate the sound, and therefore the success of Creep in the US market?
@@danpreston564 i can't speak to their intent with the sound, but lyrically it is absolutely a sarcastic, thinly veiled message saying they were sick of it. Wouldn't surprise me if the tone was similar so the same people that loved creep would also like it while having no idea Thom was basically making fun of them. Seems like something they would do.
Dan Preston the lyrics are clearly sarcastic
And a great song as well.
"does anyone hate it?..." Thom yorke lol
Psilo Cybin And Jonny Greenwood too!
For me, the most important thing when delivering songs like this more than any vocal perfection is the ability to deliver the message of the song, the pain, the frustration, and thom yorke delivered that perfectly..
