it's not about "stalking" it's about deep self-deprecating emotional frustration over loneliness, unrequited love, heart break over lack of intimate connection with a woman, either due to depression and social anxiety or just deep sadness about one's experiencing that abyss.

I always thought it was a perfect Gen X love song because it's like, "Well, I would ask you out, but I'm just such a loser that you'll probably reject me, so I'll just be depressed about my unrequited love instead." It's a very apathetic attempt at connection, despite the amazing passion and feeling Thom evokes. Definitely one of the best songs to come out of that era by one of the most consistently interesting bands from that time.

Yes, as you just saw Thom Yorke is an amazing singer! And an equally amazing songwriter and not a bad guitarist. Please do more - they progressed in their songwriting and inventiveness so much from album to album that it would be a good idea to try to stick to the order in which they did the songs, so I would take a look at some of the songs from The Bends next.
One thing I would recommend though outside of listening to their best songs, both live and from albums, at some point you should really take a look at their Grammy performance in 2009 of their song '15 Step' from In Rainbows. They did an arrangement that was extraordinary and put in a memorable performance. You'll LOVE it. You should listen to the studio version first to fully appreciate how creative an arrangement they did. Note: it's best to search for the video on Vimeo.
Interesting trivia about Creep: I don't know if they did it knowingly, but they lifted the chord progression of the verse from a Hollies song straight up. I recognized it the first time I heard this song since that G | B | Bsus4 | B | C | Csus4 | C | Cm | progression is so distinct sounding. The Hollies song is The Air That I Breathe. It's good, too. Worth a listen. You'll hear the similarity. The guys from the Hollies are now listed as co-writers and got some of the royalties.
    Thanks!
    Peace from SF

This brings so many feelings back from school and the crushes I didn't feel like I could approach. Seems silly now, but back then I had all these feelings he sings. The creep part to me is feeling like a creep having these feelings for someone that doesn't reciprocate. Found out later that some of those girls did have the same feelings but just being too shy to show them.

It's a preventative movement to keep from getting lock-jaw when he belts out the lyrics later. Fighters do this too. It's not about smack. He suffers from TMJ.
Sidenote: He definitely did his share of drugs.

He's gurning because he's on Speed. It's fairly obvious and a clear 'tell' to anyone who's had it or been around people who have had it. It's highly amusing to read comments like 'he's stretching his muscles' 🤣 Sorry folks, he's speeding

RareHarmony There’s a reason the band has largely disowned it. But people love it. It’s a good gateway drug for the group though. Kinda fun that it’s a song with a minor feel despite being mostly major chords.
