As cool as non-reciprocating charging handles are, I would rather have one that reciprocates. The reason is geared more towards reliability. The question becomes what happens when the weapon starts to jam up and doesn't fully go into battery? The AR10/15 solves the problem with the forward assist however, it's not a perfect fix. I can almost hear someone reply to this saying, "you shouldn't ram a round into the chamber for X reason." or "if the weapon doesn't go into battery on it's own then you have a problem and ramming a round into the chamber won't fix it." My answer is threefold. 1. Most firearms go into battery with more force than most humans are capable of. You cannot hurt the gun in this manner. 2. Yes. If a firearm fails to go into battery on its own, you have problem. That problem can be a light powder load, a weak recoil spring, gas system failure or even an overfull magazine. 3. In the heat of the moment in which one's life is on the line, they don't care what the issue is. The weapon needs to work. If ramming the bolt forward keeps them in the fight, they will do so.
With the previous MK47 there was also the hybrid manual-of-arms issue. I've I'm gonna rock-n-lock then I want a side charging option on the bolt carrier like Bear Creek offers on their 7.62x39 offerings.
I own one of the first CMM mk47 mutants with the actual guide that says mutant. Wish they didn’t get in trouble for using that name.. but that has been one of my favorite guns to go shooting with because it runs everything I don’t have the new and improved version but I can only imagine because the old one is awesome. Would like the new one but for $2100 probably not. I got mine for 1200.
Built 3 AR’s In 6.5 Grendel for that price. Grendel ammo costs way more but at least you get a real battle rifle you can take deer with at 300 yds too.
As an AR shooter I don’t like not having the last round bolt hold open, but I’m sure that’s just something to get used to. That would be the only thing I’d change everything else sounds awesome
I feel ya. The only thing I don’t like about the AK is that lack of a last round bolt hold open feature. I don’t want to find out my gun is empty by squeezing the trigger and then having to reload. When I squeeze the trigger, I want a round to go off. I don’t want a click. I just can’t get over that.

A lot of creators recently either got sent one or a paid trip to their facility recently to try them. -edit I'm betting he's gonna have to send it back with the video being complete
This is also the same man that has reviews out for the LCP and some Taurus guns. I don't think I have heard too much negative from his "reviews". Anybody that says anything positive about the ruger LCP was incentivized to do so.
It's fine to like the new thing. But until a new thing has a proven track record it is silly to ask if it is better than the thing that's been serving over a hundred militaries for over half a century.
WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! AK47 will always be the original and never be replaced. I love everything about it. I also love the Galil Ace and cmmg enhancements
Cmmg makes the good stuff. Hopefully they do roll things out slowly like they mentioned (for short barrel versions) having a gun that runs good out of the box isnt as common nowdays , but they got the magic sauce.
I would agree on what you said about this being for the collector. I already have every variant of AK imaginable. I just picked up the Gen 2 Galil rifle and soon after, I bought this. I actually like the length because everything else I have in 7.62x39 is pistol, under folder, side folder, or P&W. Beside an optic, I wont change anything about this or the Galil. I felt CMMG beat PSA to the punch with this because they failed to deliver a Jakl 7.62 x39, which was disappointing. I dont like the fact that I had to pay 2k for this setup, BUT other than that, Im happy with it.
Its a PSA KS-47 with AR-180 upper. Another clarification is its an AR-180 with a AR modified lower designed to take AK style magazines. Wonder if Colion knows about the KS-47. Sure there are fans nearby, make sure its running a 10 oz buffer with a KS-47 bolt minimum. Also Gen 2 PSA KS-47 has bolt lock on empty.
Its the best of both AR 15 and AK 47! The muzzle brake reducing recoil and the AR ergonomics just make the CMMG Dissent-Mutant the ultimate short to medium range carbine!
As a lefty I love the charging handle on the left side and the brass blocker on the right so the brass is ejected pass you face instead of into your face. All the mods without gunsmith mod pricing but my only eh is why try to make an Ak / AR platform the obvious answer is to have the best of both anyways this is a rifle that as a lefty i must have.

CMMG is up there as one of the most advanced designers. I only hope I can one day own a few.
What is you favorate SMG and Assault rifle, man.
Love it. On the way can't wait!
Love everything about this gun, aside from the no last round bolt hold. They should really figure that out, especially for the money it costs
That’s a magazine thing..
I bought the cmmg mutant when it first came out. I would say it’s one of my top 3 rifles.
For the price? No.
Right..
Agree! For me is not that I can’t afford it but for what it is, the price makes no sense. You are basically getting a dissent that shoots 7.62x39 but mainly, I am not a fan of the cartridge
@@vicdiaz5180 Especially since the ammo isn't as available as it was a few years ago.
Very sweet piece Palmetto state has there version of the jakyl 7.62 x 39 on the way also , Thanks for all you do ! Keep ringing that steel
Colion noir flexing on his fans who can't afford each gun he buys
He doesn't consistently explain his relationship to the firearm. I'm lean toward thinking he got this sent to him from CMMG to make content. A lot of creators recently either got sent one or a paid trip to their facility recently to try them. -edit I'm betting he's gonna have to send it back with the video being complete
@@411DL CMMG sent it to him. He mentions it but at the end of the video.
This is also the same man that has reviews out for the LCP and some Taurus guns. I don't think I have heard too much negative from his "reviews". Anybody that says anything positive about the ruger LCP was incentivized to do so.
wow that was some high praise. I think they are on to something with that DI + compact bolt & spring design.
It's fine to like the new thing. But until a new thing has a proven track record it is silly to ask if it is better than the thing that's been serving over a hundred militaries for over half a century.
Yeah but is the old reliable thing throwing sponsorship money around.
AK-47 meets AR-180 and AR-15.
Love your videos.
Does it hold 1000 rounds in the chamber, have a telescoping thing that goes up, and take a fully semi-automatic clip?
Also completely vaporizes elephants
@@Rubeless Well of course that ;]
WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!! AK47 will always be the original and never be replaced. I love everything about it. I also love the Galil Ace and cmmg enhancements
I own the 12.5 CMMG MK47 Banshee and love it.
Is this the AR 14 Biden talked about? Or was it an AK 16, or ….
CMMG make great firearms. I have an AR10 from CMMG and it's my go to gun.
I like the term chimera better than mutant
Cmmg makes the good stuff. Hopefully they do roll things out slowly like they mentioned (for short barrel versions) having a gun that runs good out of the box isnt as common nowdays , but they got the magic sauce.
Thanks Colion 🔥
Great Job informing & educating!
Hey, I love your content Colion. Keep up your great works.
Reminds me of the Sig 7.62 back in the day. It was a 7.62 version of the Sig 556. It's and AR-AK is the simplest way to think of it.
This gun is essentially a faxon ARAK 21
Thanks Colion
Very unusual beast of a weapon. Really like the quick short reset.
The grin and laugh after "It's a mutant" was perfect.
One thing I don't like is the fact that it doesn't have the LRBHO.
Man I love how this looks. Gotta get one now.
Kind of reminds me of the PSA JAKL but in 7.62x39
I think the term you were looking for might be a ‘chimera’ as it has features from different platforms that work together
Cmmg gotta be the sponsor this evening 😂😂
That MSRP though… I think I will stick with my Galil ACE Gen 2.
NO SHIT, GOOD CHOICE, I THINK I'LL DO THE SAME.
Just bought one. Cant wait to pick it up.
Best of both worlds 🤌🏾
It's for enthusiasts
Rather get a Galil Ace
Now review the Bond lever action AR-15.
Ooooh Yeah. This Rifle is The One. Totally Awesome. Love It. 7:06
Waited almost a yr for my sbr mutant. Worth it
Bro! I’m jealous I don’t have it looks sweet love it.
Love the non reciprocating charging handle.
Had one of those back in 2012 in Future Soldier, that stock is drip
Dude...Xidax sponsored this?! Their comps are AMAZING and inexpensive (comparatively). I bought from them and will again
I own an original Mutant Mk47 AKM2 and this will be definitely added to my collection. Also have a Mk4 300 and MkGs. Really like what CMMG makes.
is your mutant reliable? honest question, whats your experiences with it?
@@paulbarclay4114 very reliable. Have somewhere around 1500 rounds through it since 2016 and it works every time it goes out to the range.
Nice 😊Ak's are reliable. I used to put a case of ammo through bullpup and no hangups! Too expensive to do this now.
Only thing I don’t like is that the stock flips to the ejector side. I would prefer if it went the other way. Confusing that you can’t change it
That's me 100% I love the AR platform, yet my heart is set on 762.39 ammo.
Seems like a nice rifle, Id like to have one. Its definitely for a collector, just like the 4.6 x 30 Banshee. Something about my .223 the way is shoots so flat and accurately... Its my go-to.
Would love to see a comparison between the Dissent and the Resolute mk47.
