does the golem foundry work like this? it reads when you cast a spell, but you are not casting a card from your grave, it is just put onto the battle field?
I don't understand how a single pauper match can be *this* captivating and people still are afraid to play without rares and mythics. Seriously, this was one of the most entertaining matches I've seen in awhile, very well done all around
Pauper has become such a wild format in recent times. Described as Legacy lite for over a decade (for good reason) but the decks have gotten so powerful and diverse without insane planeswalkers and legends with walls of text that it's really something special.
@@screamyhawk4004 the only reason pauper Will never become a huge format is that there are few money to be made... Beside that, it's a great affordable format even for beginners
People hate pauper because matches are long, game aren't feel flashy enough. You are often dead but opponenent can't quite finish you off and you dont want to scoop since there is technically still hope etc.
I think what makes Mengu such a great guest here (and great person for Magic in general) is that he genuinely loves every format that he plays, even if he's not as familiar with it, and it makes it so fun to watch every match that he's a part of
Mengu is a great guest he has such good chemistry with the crew and he and Toffel bring such a high caliber of skill too (...of course so do Carl and Jamin, obviously)
I do really appreciate the competitive gameplay and commentary for paper magic. So many channels either have more casual players or just play on Arena.
Andrea vs Thoralf is always an amazing matchup. Two champion Magic players, insane combo decks, really insightful commentary/interviews, and the layout of the game both physically and in post-production makes it easy to see what’s going on.
What an amazing matchup, these games are immensely entertaining and super valuable for learning the reasonings behind certain decisions in competitive play. also i love the way that Mengu’s deck can outpace Thoralf’s infinite damage with “infinity plus one” life
Carl this was by far the best match on this channel. I really like the new "carl comments" at the top of the screen lol. Also I love both of these players and would love to see them more often. Thank you for the entertaining content!
33:30 That was so cheeky. "If you want to negate that..." I would have loved to see the alternate timeline where it did get negated and watch that game play out.
It’s always a delight to see mengu playing the format of the people! Also wow meeting of the minds seems pretty insane, might have to try it out in caw gates
I love these games, you guys make this game look so easy!! I'm always down for more Mengu and will always watch a video he is in, thank you for putting this together!
We almost had him back a few weeks ago for an exciting new series that we are starting next week! It did not work out, but we will definitely be having Frank over again :)
Excellent stuff! Definitely more of Mengucci! Also, there was a typo in the Carl updates 😅 The editing was bomb as well, I see a few improvements and they are spicy!
Mengu is such a fantastic player, I love watching him especially on card market with the pace yall have in your videos, legit my favourite magic content right here, please bring him back for more games and videos
Such a great video, Mengu is always fantastic to see. Not just because he is an amazing magic player with great charisma but also because he is accepts defeat so gracefully. Love to see him every time. Also both of you played really well and provided entertaining and insightful commentary
Sure! Step 1: have one Myr retriever in the graveyard ans one on the board. Also have an Ashnod's Altar and a Golem Foundry on the board. Step 2: sacrifice your Myr retriever to the Altar, adding 2 mana and triggering the Retriever, which allows you to bring the Retriever from the graveyard back to your hand. Step 3: Play the retriever from your hand with the 2 floating mana. This adds a counter to the Foundry. You find yourself back at Step 1, but with one extra counter on the Golem Foundry. Repeat steps 1-3 until you have 999 counters on the Golem Foundry. Use the counters on the Foundry to make 333 Golems. Sacrifice any amount of Golems to the Altar to add yourself as much mana as you want. Need more mana? Repeat steps 1-3 as many times as you like. When ready, attack with your golems.
I really enjoy the Mengucci content but I especially appreciate Thoralf and how he let me get a picture with him in Minneapolis. For the record I would’ve definitely “paid” (done) 30 push-ups for one.
I'd like to see "Moggwartz school of chicanery" pauper deck revolving around first day of class and persist goblins. murderous redcap/putrid goblin with a sac outlet. skirk prospector + sling gang liutenant or mogg raider + attacking creatures
Ooh pro player tip from a fellow pro- mengu bottomed the ash barrens in their opening hand game two when mulling to 6, but should have kept it. The reason being you play ash barrens turn one. Turn two float the mana from it, play the chancery, and then cycle the barrens you bounced back to hand, with the mana it produced that turn. That way you deck thin by one, and instead of having an island and chancery, you have an island or plains, and a chancery, and two drawn cards to see if you need the white or blue more.
@@CardmarketMagic would you guys (Carl, Jamin, Toffel) ever consider doing some EDH with Mengu? Would be interesting to see Mengu play in a non-competitive format with the gang :)
@DerringerHK we are doing EDH with MTG Goldfish soon and will be doing more whenever we have more casual guests. We probably won't do EDH with Andrea since the audience does not really overlap and we'd rather focus on more competitive stuff when Andrea is around :)
I have this eggs deck, and it's my favorite combo in pauper next to Cycle Storm. Obviously, I love my mono red deck, but I like gaining 36 life on my opponents' turn and then untapping with infinite dummies
Ohh that tron deck is kinda like a deck i made tons of years ago with all the artifact lands, the retrievers, the krark clan ironworks, the goblin charbelcher and disciple of the vault. Yes i know there was more than 1 combo there, but had to do it just in case since i didn't have enough money for all the good cards i wanted, so i had to get creative, deck was lots of fun at the time.
Toffel saying “my chromatic if you want to negate it” calling out mengu after talking about how important it is that he doesn’t negate it is so ballsy and funny 😂😂
So nice to See Mengu and Thoralf playing some Pauper. Regarding the Myr Retriever combo, a short Animation or flow chart explaining combo would be nice ...
They did not talk about it long enough for me to make an adequate overlay and I thought that pausing the video would ruin the pacing. But if you like, I can explain the combo to you here :)
i am looking into maybe trying my hand at pauper as i have seen it played a few times on the channel is the format exp. to get into and if not what would be a good starter deck to start with.
You guys should host a card market pauper tournament and post the matches each edited like this! Would love to see everyone bring their favorite decks and root for my favorites! (Mengu too please).
wait so does Carl do the editing for EVERY video? because holy shit those are some clean, simple, easy to read graphics. I am never EVER confused about what is happening despite how complex magic is because of the brilliant graphic displays showing everything that is happening.
Both would not be my first choice of deck but nice gameplay. Its a pity, that there are no big pauper tournaments in germany. Hopefully this will change in the future.

Just fantastic.

Back and already dropping Pauper with Mengucci. Carl is king
