I came back into magic when I moved from FL to Oregon to go to college… this was at the middle/end of 2009 and Worldwake had just passed and scars block was starting. I thought that was cool that’s when the professor got back into it. Met the Prof in Orlando a couple years ago and he’s a genuinely nice and humble guy.
I still have my first two EDH decks, both are tribal. The very first is Olivia Voldaren that does vampire shenanigans and the second is Grimgrin Corpse-Born that goes wide with zombies also, (inadvertently) having a couple of infinite combos.
Woo, congrats Prof! I’ll always love the older cards. It’s wild to hear anyone say they’re unplayable now, cause all I think when I see those Zendikar vampires is how much booty I kicked with them over a decade ago! Also, Rhystic just rolling up to the function in that killer Suspiria shirt. 🖤🔥
Watching you guys have fun playing magic together just brings so much joy to my life and I can always count on shuffle up and play (no matter the guests) to make me laugh and brighten my day. Thanks Prof for everything you do for magic players everywhere. ❤
I honestly think this is the most game actions I have seen Sam take in any of these games. Like Sam was doing stuff, and effecting the game and so on. I love seeing him here :)
hey prof, pro tip - use that bloodline keeper to make vampire tokens and tap 5 vampires (during someone else's end step so you don't open yourself up to attacks) to just make your crypt ghast a vampire before losing it to your commander...
I love this episode/idea. It honestly just inspired me to try to remember all of the cards I had in my first commander deck I built, Reya Dawnbringer. I had just gotten back into Magic around the Shards of Alara block when I discovered what commander was and Reya was my favorite legend from the past. Talk about nostalgia! Also it shows how differently I thought about deck building back then.
Here's my idea for season 3 finale: Pleasant Kenobi, Spice8Rack and Rhystic Studies. The rule for season finales is that they always have Spice and Rhystic Studies.
Honestly find these type of games to be much more fun than the current crazy meta of MTG. Not even an old player, just get tired of more and more infinite, and/or I win, combos.
The Professor is always able to bring in our community’s BEST as guests for his videos because he himself is amongst our BEST! Fantastic video Professor, ❤❤❤
Spice is 100% not a twink. The Gay Tribes are all defined based off of two main factors, your body hair & body type (with personality sometimes being important). a Twink is young, thin, & lack significant body hair (usually none at all), "young" doesn't mean age it just means appearance. An Otter is a twink with body hair, usually a big more athletic, but mainly just a twink with body hair. A Bear is a big (specifically fat) & hairy dude, usually older as well, a hairy dude with a bunch of muscles is not a bear, you must be fat or you do not apply! A Dolphin is a bear without hair. A Fox is an otter thats older, there is no equivalent term for twink, most older twinks don't exist (what is jokingly called "twink death"). Cubs are young bears, maybe they have less hair, but really its just that they're younger. Also a Wolf is sorta like an otter or fox but they're aggressive, sometimes described as a slim bear. Some extras include the Hunk, Jock, Twunk, Chub, Bull, Pup, Gym Rat, Gym Bunny, etc etc. Most, if not all of these, are expressly sexual terms. That's something I think people need to remember when casually calling random people a twink. There is also great overlap with the Tribes & the Leather community. These are really important things within queer history! Specifically the history of Gay Men! It's really important to learn I think! Edit: Describing these as just important "within queer history" makes it sound like they've gone away or aren't important today. They still are & always will be! People still continue to describe themselves as all of these things. History never stops, the present is the history of tomorrow & the past is never gone from our lives.

haven't watched an episode of this before thinking it would feel drawn out but now that i know the game more this is actually really cool to throw on when i'm working or playing a game, remains engaging. 1m subs soon
My first deck was a monoblue fish tribal. Running all existing fish creatures. I called it "All-Blue" - a reference to One Piece.
Thanks for this amazing finale !
This is now one of my favorite mtg gameplay videos with the commander nostalgia Game Knights one.
Looks like bedtime can wait, shuffle up & play ep just dropped
13:50 that really rung a bell with me, OG Atraxa infect with weird combos to win was my first EDH now I’m a combo player with weird combos. How funny
When he said ‘i thought we were a dictator’ i immediately thought Dictableship as a joke lol
Me - ‘Wow! This video is 2 hours long… I wonder why’
Kenji - ‘I’m playing land destruction’
Ah that’ll explain it.
🤣
And no lands got destroyed
You'd think so, wouldn't you?
I still have my first two EDH decks, both are tribal. The very first is Olivia Voldaren that does vampire shenanigans and the second is Grimgrin Corpse-Born that goes wide with zombies also, (inadvertently) having a couple of infinite combos.
Loving Spice8Rack Gary Oldman 1992 Dracula look 😅😅
Woo, congrats Prof! I’ll always love the older cards. It’s wild to hear anyone say they’re unplayable now, cause all I think when I see those Zendikar vampires is how much booty I kicked with them over a decade ago!
Also, Rhystic just rolling up to the function in that killer Suspiria shirt. 🖤🔥
We can see that Spicy8rack of chest hair creeping up. Spice is definitely an otter
Watching you guys have fun playing magic together just brings so much joy to my life and I can always count on shuffle up and play (no matter the guests) to make me laugh and brighten my day. Thanks Prof for everything you do for magic players everywhere. ❤
The heaven bit was funny. Good job editor
As someone In a digital media program, I have a whole new appreciation for these editors.
I haven't been keeping up with Spice so I haven't seen them in a while but damn that hair and stache are majestic
I honestly think this is the most game actions I have seen Sam take in any of these games. Like Sam was doing stuff, and effecting the game and so on. I love seeing him here :)
Love when Sam and Spice get together. It’s pure magic. Also I’m pretty sure spice is in twink death but like go off with the confidence.
hey prof, pro tip - use that bloodline keeper to make vampire tokens and tap 5 vampires (during someone else's end step so you don't open yourself up to attacks) to just make your crypt ghast a vampire before losing it to your commander...
1:12:50 small misplay, cryptic command says "tap all creatures your opponents control" so spice should have also tapped all their permanents
Spice looking like Disco Crowley [affectionate]
Kudos to the editor and camera crew.... the reaction close ups, the timing of the angle shots, and the tightness of the frame is chef's-kiss!
* munches popcorn and snacks with great glee * Been waiting for this, let's go!
Every time this particular group gets together, it's magic! I wish Rhystic Studies could be on every episode.
The Bioshock 2 multiplayer reference reformatted my brain. How could I forget?
The more i watch thiss ep the funnier the bad jokes get. Shuffle up and play is one of the best mtg table top shows out there keep it going prof!
Grats on the win Prof! Also love the otter/twink chat in pride month, look forward to season 3!
Spice and Sam will forever be my favourite guests of this show, it's never a dull moment with either of them
Nice to see you got Victor Zsasz into Magic
Hands down my favourite episode, you guys are the best!
Thank you for this nostalgic game
Baron Sengir mentioned, Resleevables brain activated
Great episode - really nice to see cards from this era. Excellent cast too!
