    Flippin heck, this video is such top quality with the camera work and all, it is truly 50x better than the norm (which is usually half assed and has added music and other BS). Truly a joy to watch.

    Perfect work, I find that these differentials give an excellent upgrade for these fms, the problem that I had without speaking of enlarging the holes of the differentials is that the screws are not of good quality because I had a lot of trouble putting two back in place, I have to look on ali to see if the screws are selling so that I can replace the one that doesn't fit.

      @@hollyhillrc Yes, I think it's the best upgrade for this rc, with the weights added to the axles and it's on top 😉

    Hi Derek, nice mods. A bit tricky with the fit but you solved the problem. You will be happy to know I started the C24 project. All metal upgrades purchased separately. Slow but steady progress so far. Take care

      Thank you very much Paul. It seems to be a common problem with this upgrade. I've seen other people having trouble with them too. But after a bit of fettling they fit, so still worth buying. I look forward to seeing your C24 project. Slow but steady is the way to go my friend 🙂👍🏼

    Looks like I'll need to upgrade my diffs as well. 😢 Did you need to shim the gear, that is connected to the drive shaft?

      Hi Patrick. Thank you for watching. No it didn't need any shims.

    Great video too bad I wasn’t lucky with these gears from Ali express 😢
    I bought 2 sets and both on testing bind and skip. It seems the small gear has too much play in the diff cover, how come yours don’t ? Have you installed a washer between the small gear and the bearing? Can’t find a solution on that..

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  Год назад +1

      I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't had that problem with this RC. A washer would take up some play so the gears engage better. It's worth a try. I've done it on other RC's and it definitely helped. It would also be worth checking your wheel shafts in the big diff. If one shaft is in further than the other the big diff gear may not be in line with the small one which would also cause some slip. I hope this helps and you get it fixed soon. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment 🙂👍🏼👍🏼

    • @Sleek_Paprika69
      @Sleek_Paprika69 Год назад

      I just received these same diffs and I also had the same problem. Once installed they bind and skip. Also the pinion is not screwed down like in the OEM arrangement so it can move forward and aft as the car moves which just makes binding worse. I submitted a return request. Did you get your money back?

    • @TheAlxzHouz
      @TheAlxzHouz Год назад +1

      @@Sleek_Paprika69 well for one set I did but there is a pretty easy workaround I managed to fix the skip and bind with a single o ring on the screw that goes in the small gear and bearing it’s not a permanent solution but it works perfect

    I made a cursory try at these and really was bummed that the slots are too small for the axle shafts. I may try filing the shafts rather than enlarging the holes. Either one is less than ideal, as I have a propensity for messing up detail work LOL. This is a great step-by-step, though. Well executed!

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  Год назад +1

      Many thanks for watching this video.I was very disappointed too, but not overly surprised that an aftermarket part didn't fit correctly. However, despite the hassle I think it's a metal upgrade worth buying for the low price tag. Filing the shafts is the easier option and something I wish I'd done instead of enlarging the holes in the diffs. I enlarged the holes because I thought filed shafts would be sloppy if for some reason I had to refit the plastic diffs. In retrospect I wouldn't refit the plastic diffs. I'd just buy another set of metal ones. Sometimes I do my own head in overthinking problems !!

    • @QuinnsRC
      @QuinnsRC Год назад +1

      @@hollyhillrc I’m the same way. Didn’t think of the slop of going back, but did worry about strength loss if filing. I’m reality, probably negligible.

    Great video, when you installed the new small metal pinion through the bearing was it a loose or tight fit thanks I did a similar mod and the bearing was loose I tried glueing the pinion to the bearing but eventually it broke free and made the gears Miss align!

    • @hollyhillrc
      @hollyhillrc  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Sean. Thank you very much for watching this video. It was a while ago I did this mod but as far as I remember the bearing slid on the shaft without any problems, and my gears meshed ok after fitting it all together. But I have had this issue with the diff gears slipping in one of my WPL builds. What I did to resolve it was put a very thin washer on the shaft with the small gear, (pinion) before I put the bearing on, (so there's a thin washer between the gear and the bearing on the shaft on this part @1:47). This moved the gear slightly forward when it was installed in the axle and helped mesh the diff gears together and stopped them slipping. If you try this and it still slips try adding another thin washer until the mesh feels correct. Don't forget to give them a good dollop of grease too. I hope this helps.
