Wow what can i say. That's a super looking truck. The previous owner must of looked after it 🤣. Great video showing the capability it's a great performing truck the injora crawlermaster tires are super soft and don't panic about any climb.
I love seeing inventive ideas like those wall plugs! 👌👍 These rigs are so much better than the axials, with the proper (none worm-gear) diffs, & portals. Plus the overall appearance. I mean who can not like the look of an old power-wagon!? I’m selling my scx24 and getting one of these! Thanks for sharing 👊👍👌
The improvements on this fms are very good and the idea for fixing the rear tipper is excellent, you had to think about it. Both tests are perfect, the speed test is cool but for my part I don't think it is useful on this kind of rc but the slow speed is really on top.
Je suis d'accord et je n'utiliserai à nouveau le top gear que si je ne gagne pas le Concours d'Elégance et que je dois voler le trophée et m'enfuir rapidement ! 😂😂😂😂
That was really impressive! It's such a versatile little truck. I think I'll get one of these when funds allow. I've been looking at all sorts of mini crawlers and this one ticks all the boxes.
Thank you very much for watching and your kind feedback. I think it's one of the best micro crawlers out there at the moment for the money. The low speed control out of the box impressed me the most compared to the other 1/24 rc's I've got. It needs the extra weight low down to help counter balance the hard plastic cab, but most of the upgrades in this video , or similar, are very cheap to buy, and easy to fit.
Hi mate, great little beast you have there with lots of lovely metal parts. Those stock tyres worked really well but you could see the difference with the Crawler Master ones. Great video and all the best my friend.
Thank you very much Rob. I do like the look of the red plastic stock wheels and tyres. The heavy brass weights inside help improve their performance, but the metal Injora's and softer tyres were better. It's nice to have the choice and mix things up now and again though.
Hi there Derek, a great purchase. I’ve just purchased a WPL C54-1-KM and RES V3 system too. Something different to get my teeth into 😊. I’ve seen these FMS Power Wagens on the net, they look good too. Your PowerWagen is seriously modified. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😎
Good choice John. The Toyota LC80 hard body is excellent. Very scale with good detailing. I bought the body set in 2020 before they were released as a kit and it's still in its box. It's another one of those projects I've never got round to. I would've waited for the kit but it hadn't been announced at the time because the body set was originally made as an alternative option to the Hilux bodies on C14/24 chassis, (which it now comes with as the kit). It's the same body as my RocHobby Katana's, and the FMS version too. I have no experience with the V3 but it has a good reputation. Enjoy your build John, and keep your eyes peeled for a new WPL coming to my channel soon 😃👍🏼
Yeah that was awesome, I love the stock tires and rims, I’ll have to get some of those brass inserts appreciate you sharing this video love my little power wagon I have the red one the Limited addition one red and blue, and I’m waiting on the grim reaper this one’s going to be awesome catch you on the next one
You're welcome Dom. I'm glad you found it helpful. It's a good RC and I'm really impressed with it. But new out of the box it's top heavy because of the hard body and needs the metal upgrades for more low down weight. The brass rings for the stock wheels and metal links are cheap to buy and they help with this.
Thank you very much Gary. I'm really impressed with it. It's got the performance in a micro crawler I've been waiting for. The low speed torque and throttle control is excellent. No need for slo mo editing with this RC.
It's super smooth against the SCX24 I know that after yesterday's run. Yours does have some very nice upgrades and mine will have a change soon once I get the Jeep finished as that's taking long than it should but that is fun. The high gear is fast but I still found it controllable with that power. I know the new Traxxas is coming but will it be better with less for the price tag as it has no portal axles.
They are top heavy and front heavy when they are new, but the metal upgrades are very cheap from Ali Express and help to fix this. I bet you can make an excellent rear bed for it too. Should I also suggest weathering ! 😄😄😄👍🏼
Hello, Derek - what a nice, clear explanation of the mods carried out both by the previous owner and then by you. As rawl plugs are made of that sort of waxy plastic, I'm astonished that he was able to glue them so firmly to the underside of his excellent home-made rear bed. I just don't understand the business model that makes it seem a good idea to basically manufacture high quality oil shocks and then sell them as pogo shocks. It seems like madness! Surely, if they'd gone to the expense of making them oil tight, they should have chucked a bit of oil in there and sold them as oil shocks! I'm really glad that you did decide to test the original wheels and tyres - I would certainly be leaving those fitted for their lovely scale looks. And doesn't it shift in high gear?
Hi Del. Thank you for watching and your nice comment. The rawl plugs were hot glued on the bed and one of them did come off recently when I pulled it off the chassis to do some work. I used super glue to fix it back in place and let it dry for 24 hours before I put it back on. Now when I remove the bed I poke the plugs through the holes from underneath with a small driver to slide them out of the chassis so there's less strain on the joint. So far this has worked and the other hot glued plug has stayed in place too. When I got this the plugs were white. I painted them with a brush using Tamiya XF-1 flat black acrylic which does come off easily when I remove and replace the bed, so I do have to touch them in occasionally. To be honest Del I wouldn't have got metal shocks if I'd bought this new without hop ups. From what I've seen on RUclips people who've added the O-rings and oil to the stock plastic ones have said they're smooth and work well, and it's a good improvement. Apparently they don't leak either. Win Win! I would've had no hesitation doing this if the metal ones on mine were just pogo sticks. When I initially pressed down on them I couldn't feel any rubber, just metal on metal, probably because they were practically dry. But I'm glad I decided to clean them and discovered the O-rings, because I think they look better than the stock ones, and they would've ended up in a spares box for eternity. I've bought cheap "hop up metal oil shocks" for my Tamiya buggies in the past and they've had no oil in them so it's not uncommon in my experience. Like you I love the look of the stock wheels and tyres, and I also really like the Injora's. It's good to have a choice and it makes it more interesting for myself and for my videos too. As far as the high gear is concerned it's probably something that I will use if I can't quite get up an incline, but I certainly won't be using it again like I did in this video. That was purely for demonstration purposes! I needed a long lie down and a strong cup of tea after that little moment of high speed madness, hahahahah!
Nice video, Derek, great to hear you talking about this truck! Love the mods you and the previous owner did. Cool that you managed to get the metal shocks sorted. I was impressed with how well the truck did on the stock tyres, I wasn't expecting it to get up that white rock! Nice one matey, all the best from Mark... :O)
Yeah very nice Derek. It really is all beefed up for sure. Nice add ons in my opinion. I think if I ever go 24th it would have to be Axial. lol But definitely a great looking rig. She really moves along great in High gear too Wow
Hi Nick. I've heard that some people think the newer SCX24's are better than the Power Wagon, but personally it's the best one I've had so far. I still like my original SCX24 Deadbolt very much, but this is my new favourite micro.
Excellent video. Mines on pre order, hopefully get it in time for Christmas. Do you have any links to the parts? I've been searching, but to find any of those parts here in the UK seems difficult. I'd love to know where you and your friend buy your fcx24 parts. Now following you, looking forward to more videos👍
Hi. Thank you for watching, and thank you for subscribing too. I get my metal upgrade parts for the Power Wagon from Ali Express in China. It takes a couple of weeks for them to arrive, but they're very cheap to buy, and there's no import tax. You can get stock replacement parts from Wheelspin Models or Modelsport, but unfortunately I don't know anyone in the UK who supplies upgrades for it.
