How to Mod FCX24 Shocks to Oil for FREE + Wheel Mods! FMS Power Wagon Upgrades

  • If you have an FMS FCX24 Power Wagon there are a few free or "no cost" mods you can do to improve performance and in this video I show you how to do them quickly and easily.
The first free mod is to upgrade the stock friction shocks to oil shocks by using the O rings that come provided with the truck. I also show you how to widen the "track" or width of the truck and how to add weight to the wheels.
All you will need is as follows:
1.5mm hex driver or allen key
    Small crosshead screwdriver
    Adhesive tape
    Lead weight or solder
    Light weight shock oil
    4x M3 nuts
I hope you enjoy the video and find it useful. All the best from Mark...

Hiya Mark, first off, a big congratulations on hitting the big 10k, it's so well deserved with all the countless hours you put into the channel and couldn't happen to a nicer bloke. Well done mate..🙂. In many ways this video is a great example of your channel's completeness in sharing free and ingenious mods - I especially liked the tip to widen the stance of the truck. Top stuff..👍🏻. Glad to have been a part of your amazing journey dude...🤝✌👍🏻😀.

Thanks a ton matey! Can't believe I've hit 10k, it seems unreal! But yes, I sure have put the hours in my friend! Glad you liked that stance mod - I was just looking at the axles without the wheels on and the idea just popped into my head! Same here, I'm so glad we are sharing our experiences here on the tube, it's been a pure pleasure, dude, long may it continue! Cheers! 🙏👌🤞👍

Free mods are the most affordable ones and these all seem to be well worth the little bit of time it takes to do them!! I have done the solder trick on the scx24 and it does help out! the little nuts on the axles was slick move! I wish more truck came is with the ability to dampen the shock action. This one seems very simple and easy to do so I hope others follow suit! Thanks for sharing the cool tips Mark!

Hi there Mark, I love the modifications. I’m going to call it the WWD modifications (widen it, weight it, dampen it) 😊. And what’s best, these are free modifications. I’ve been looking for a small scale RC, and been looking at the FMS FCX24 Powerwagen. (Especially after my unhappy WPL adventure) looking for something to use indoors, as well as out and about. I believe these come with the optional open diff too? All the best to you and the family 😊😉😊

Hiya John! Thanks for popping by, mate! Haha, WWD, love it! I can definitely recommend this little rig, it is a little costlier than other but worth it for the good spec. Hi Mark, Great mods and nice mini crawler. It’s hard to find good shocks for the 1/18-1/24 scale crawlers, usually the suspension gets too stiff with the oil. I have to check to see if my FMS Land Cruiser has the same shocks. I really want to get the Unimog version of your truck. I also like the soldering wire weights. I’ve seen something similar using flexible steel wire for crafts, I have a spool but haven’t tried it yet. Happy New Year and take care!!
