Good review Tom. Machine grey is great but saw one in the new polymetal grey and i think it looks just as good. Have you reviewed the kia seltos? if so how do you think it compares.
Thanks, was waiting and curious about the delay. Best review from Aus, seen them all 😉🤫😊 Keep up the good work. Totally agree with you that this chassis needs the 2.5 turbo petrol or 2.2 turbodiesel. AWD and mild-hybrid system too, if it does not already (in your country). Goldilocks B/C-segment and above Mazda's, are better buys for those who do long distance trips a bit more often, so that's how I think. Of course you could also get a small city car like the 2 or CX-3 and be happy. On the lack of wireless phone charging, I have banned any sort of phone charging in our family cars (especially the smaller ones) for many good reasons. Tom, I have test driven both this (in the 2.5) and the Mazda3 2.5L. According to a Wheels magazine, the weight is roughly the same. Why then is the fuel economy and performance slightly worse in the CX-30 when using the same engine?
I like it enough to think about it being my next car, as I no longer need a lot of space or oomph. Not that I would object to a turbo engine. My wish list includes the red interior of the Mazda 3 Akira hatch, ventilated seats and a few more exterior colour options.
So any news on a Mazda CX-5 facelift? I’ve always found it odd that the first car with the new design language never seems to get a tweak that bring it back with the rest of the family design aesthetic. I’m talking about the front clip. It’s funny that the old mazda 2 gets a new front clip and has that signature metal accent that wraps around the front that looks great and seamless while the CX-5 just stops. Let’s hope this year, as the 2, 3, 6 all have this.
No news at all yet but it would really surprise me if we didn’t see it before the end of 2020. The Tiguan will be receiving a lift this year, and the ascendant RAV4 needs to be targeted too. Lots of motivation for Mazda.
Great review, Tom! Hopefully this car will sell well for Mazda. I won’t be one of those buyers, though. This is the only car in Mazda’s lineup that I think isn’t a design hit. The cladding kills it for me. And the wheels don’t fill the wheel wells. Great interior, though!
Side cladding 😭😿😢! Why Mazda, why! LOL 😅😊 Now I'll have to wait even longer. Even the side cladding on the MX-30's design, is not so bad imho. Waiting to see and test that next, and of course most importantly, how much it will be priced in my country.
The new Skyactiv-X engine will sit above the G25, so it’ll be noticeably more expensive than a G20. I think the G20 is a bit modest for the CX-30, so I’d go a G25 or wait to try the new engine
The large amount of unpainted plastic trim around the wheel openings limits the paint colors that look good. We add Turtle Wax Trim Restorer to this unpainted hard plastic inside and out to keep it darker and shiny.
