I recently purchased a 2022 Mazda CX-30 AWD Carbon Edition over the 2022 Corolla Cross XLE AWD after having a chance to see & compare them each in-person. Both of them look better in-person than they do in videos & pics. No regrets on my choice. I was looking at the CX-5 Carbon & Premium also, but it's too big for my taste. Also, it's my first Mazda purchase.
Great review! I love the co-hosting, keep it up! I traded my 2020 Mazda3 GT AWD for the CX-30 2 weeks ago and I love it! Only major bummer is the lack of a TC OFF button, which makes absolutely no sense! I love the fact that the suspension has much more travel than the Mazda and also taller tiers which makes it so much better over potholes!

I like the Mazda CX 30 but I can't get past the blue interior with the black or grey. Out of the ones that I've tested, this is the most quiet inside for the price.
Beautiful car and the cladding doesn't bother me at all. The minimalist interior is just the way I want for a car, I don't like car with do many switches and knobs.👌 😀
Het Guys, what about us heading to retirement , giving up the expense BMW , love the great interior and reliable reviews. Owned a RX-7 in my 20's loved that car . Getting the CX--30 @ 31K only can purchases half of a BWM similar optioned out. Thanks for the review, enjoy watching you both
Will corduroy ever go out of style? I still have a brown suit, that does no longer fit, in my wardrobe. I used to drive a Dodge Horizon, non-GLH. It was not particularly memorable. But I do love this new Mazda. Thanks for another excellent video.
Meanwhile .. I’m sorry for previously not subscribing ... subconsciously I thought it didn’t make a difference. But now I realize it’s free, and it will help you stay on the RUclips algorithms.
I have had my CX-30 for about a month now. I got the GS Luxury with AWD in Soul Crystal Red. So far I really love it. Very nice interior, lots of tech toys and features, decent sound system. Feels relatively sporty to drive. For a smallish mid-size crossover it has a fairly quiet ride, not too much road noise. Honestly my biggest complaint is the key fobs. Yes, I said fobs, as in plural, because the optional remote start feature adds another entire fob identical to the main entry/ignition fob, and they are not small, so now I have to carry around a set of keys with two rather large rectangular fobs, very bulky. But other than that engineering faux pas (or fob pas) I am very happy with my new Mazda. BTW, I have been a subscriber to this channel for about 5 years now I think. I started watching while researching for a vehicle purchase, and really enjoy the no nonsense reviews that are relevant to the everyday consumer, and deliver details on the things that make a difference to the typical real world driver, particularly those who appreciate the finer points of driving performance and build quality. 👍
Quick fix: don't use the remote starter. A) its illegal to leave your car idling B) it's bad for the environment and the engine C) it's unnecessary; driving smoothly is the best and quickest way of getting the car up to temperature. You're welcome.
@@nicholassmith7048 Thanks for your self righteous reply Your Holiness, but idling is legally permitted for 3 consecutive minutes, and a total of 10 minutes per hour where I live. I start it right before I walk to the car. And I will use my vehicle however I please, thank you very much. As for environmental damage, pardon me while I laugh hysterically. I work in the trucking industry, and the paltry amount of extra emissions this CX30 generates in a few minutes isn't even a drop in the ocean compared to the emissions from one of my company's fifty trucks, nevermind the 2 million other operational trucks on the road every day. Extraneous emissions from warming up cars (particularly when it's a vehicle that only gets driven 2 or 3 times a week) is completely irrelevant in comparison to the waste and emissions generated by commercial vehicles. Maybe you should mind your own business instead of judging people, particularly when you clearly don't know the laws, and don't know the circumstances of usage in question.
Hi, My husband and I enjoyed your review. We’ve seen other reviews stating that the rear visibility is quite poor. It does appear that there is very minimal rear window space. Would appreciate hearing your opinion!
Great review please keep up the great work both of you ! lol my very first car my parents helped me buy was a 1987 Chevy Caprice Classic sedan oh boy did I love that car . CHEERS ...
Okay - I just subscribed to your channel to comment! I'm guessing you live in a suburb in British Columbia? As a single child URBAN couple this car is the perfect size for us. When we no longer needed to drive to work, even our 2018 CX-5 GT was just too large and therefore just not fun enough to drive in our urban High Park neighbourhood in Toronto. We replaced our CX-5 with a 2021 CX-30 GT and we LOVE the CX-30 more than we like the CX-5. The CX-30 while not a hard core sport car, is still a lot more fun to drive than any other crossover we have tried, including the CX-5. Despite the excellent engineering of the CX-5, the centre of gravity is higher than physics allow for a car to be truly fun to drive. The CX-30 is just low enough to the ground to be truly engaging to drive while still being a crossover. While the CX-5 felt slightly underpowered with the natural aspirated 2.5 engine, in the CX-30 it feels plenty fast enough to be fun to drive, especially around the city. A turbo could be even more fun to drive, but the regularly aspirated 2.5 is fine in the mean time. Not sure if its okay to put in a plug here, but Ali at Westowne Mazda in Toronto is awesome, as is the whole dealership. This is our 3rd new Mazda that I have bought from him in 2 years. Highly recommended.
tekz Yes, I know, though I see where he’s coming from: this general color is becoming quite trendy and many manufacturers have their own version of it, each with its own respective name, so I think that “Battleship Grey” is a great generic term 🙂
Great review, one thing that I like to see in any car review is the acceleration of the car, the torque, zero to 100Km acceleration, how the steering feels, is it light, is it heavy? Also what are the comparable to the car being reviewed?
From both a marketing, and a production standpoint, I think that Mazda should make their turbo engine available across their entire line-up of cars and SUVs from the Miata on up.
Great review as usual. However I didn’t hear you talk about engines and performance really. Though I’m not always the greatest listener and I’m too lazy to rewatch.
The CX-30 is a subcompact crossover that's an appealing choice for DINKS (Dual Income No Kids). At least until it's compared to the new KIA Seltos. At 173" long the Mazda is an inch longer than the Seltos. But its interior cargo space is significantly less. (20.2/45.2 cubic ft vs 26.6/62.8 cubic ft.) That difference is the result of what Andrea refers to as the CX-30's "long nose," a design that's common to each of Mazda's crossovers and a trick used by sports car designers for a century, or so, to suggest potency and performance. Unfortunately it does nothing for the "U(tility)" of an SUV.
Stephen Hendricks, I considered the Seltos and this CX-30...while the Seltos may have the larger interior space & cargo, higher ride height, and independent rears, it does however have a weaker engine and IVT that is still unproven for reliability given that this was just introduced over a year ago in their Forte, Hyundai Elantra and now Seltos. It does stand out in features and value for money but I just couldn’t trust the IVT (not to mention the feel of CVT) and Korean quality for longevity despite Hyundai and Kia doing great things of late and their longer warranty over the other brands. Not all prioritize space like me...I would likely still take the tried and tested Skyactiv 2.5L NA and 6-speed tranny combo of the Japan built Mazdas in general (though this CX30 is Mexico built).
@@ztekz Perhaps you should have considered the 1.6L Turbo mated to a 7 speed DCT in the Seltos. Each a higher spec component than offered in the CX-30.
It’s pretty perfect for us “older thans, still younger than” who are post kids/empty nesters who want fancy urbane bling bling yet weekend warrior off road in the logging roads past Whistler, British Columbia 🇨🇦 ... bought my 2021 CX30 GT at Morrey Mazda North Shore. Aside from a better engine, quiet and nicer cabin and slightly larger cargo space, the ride quality wasn’t that big of a diff due to still having rear torsion beams and the rear leg room was just the same (cramped). I wanted a more comfortable ride with rear ind suspension and much quieter one and really didn’t care for AWD and higher ride height. Ended up replacing the CX3 with a 6! Better handling, more comfortable and quieter ride and felt luxurious...like driving a luxury sedan! Oh and the 6 came in $6K lower than the CX-30...

Three gripes: 1) that heavy, thick plastic cladding, bet that will drive away a solid third of those who'd otherwise consider this vehicle, maybe into the CX-5, more likely into Hyundai or Kia or Honda or... 2) the Chinese only CX-4 is way better looking. Why in the world didn't Mazda just give us that?; 3) and this is a deal-breaker (if that cladding wasn't already so), it's manufactured in Mexico. I could have gotten past the cladding, but can't get past that, especially on a new model. Three missteps by Mazda and you're out.

A very small but nice touch that this car has is its LED turn signals flash on and off like the old school halogen lights. Best of both worlds.

Nice looking vehicle except for the way to thick rocker and wheel cladding. Sometimes thinner is better like in this case.
It should be a cx3 and the current cx3 should be renamed cx2 as it is based on a mazda 2
