Yet her big dream still demands completion in 10 years! How the heck they came up with timeframe? Don’t know it’s never explained….. It’s incredibly bizzare given the fact that literally no scientific decarbonization plan ever published even remotely supports this timeframe. Yet her solution every time is just right the man in government. If you don’t understand what is needed to make your a goal reality no amount of dealings in government is gonna make your dream a reality.

Localized geothermal for residential consumption is beneficial for heating, but utility scale geothermal is geologically based (also don’t help that 4 major utility geothermal projects are currently on hold pending environmental review). Hydroelectric is a massive resource (currently makes up 92% of storage capacity in this country), but outside of localized FES and SEWS projects there’s limited potential growth due to volumetric and discharge rates that constrain utility scale. Tidal is still in its infancy, but really unless your coupling the technology with some serious storage capacity this technology isn’t the best as your greatest rates of production are based on tidal forces which very rarely coincide with peak consumption demand. Biomass is a decent option however depending on who you talk to in the 100% renewable crowd this entire sector may not be even supported (for example in Jacobsen et al Wind Water Solar 100% Renewable Transition for the US, biomass frequently surpasses in emissions greater than neutrality therefore cannot be reasonably considered to be a renewable source available to decarbonize this country). Regardless of what you use, if you read through published decarbonization studies the scale of infrastructure is still measured in the BILLIONS of units. This is not a quick fix. Which leads to a contradiction in public understanding on your next point: “Ten years has more to do with needing to be done. It’s not ambition it’s necessity. Even if all hands are on deck, we might not make it in ten years but we have to try.” Well not be a negative Nancy, but I can already tell you you’re not gonna make it in 10 years. For a political group that claims they are on the right side of science they sure don’t read a lot of scientific literature….. You know why I can make this claim? Because believe it or not the scientific and engineering communities have been discussing and evaluating net-decarbonization plans for a very long time. In the evaluation process there are thousands of published meta-feasibility, constructibility and industrial engineering analysis of decarbonization plans which look at the total scope of work proposed in each plan and compare rates of production estimates in the plan to historical rates of manufacturing capacity, R&D progression, installation rates, construction rates, production rates, procurement rates, logistical rates etc. Not a single published report to date finds that a 10 year timeframe would be statistically possible. Yes we need to decarbonize as quick as possible, but throwing idea at the wall and making unrealistic timeframes for completion historically causes projects to get delayed, reducing efficiency and ultimately leading to an extended timeframe greater than well executed and plans with realistic timeframes for completion. Yeah she might be an economist and a politician but when it comes to infrastructure development planning she is illustrated that she really has no idea the heck she’s talking about.

This plan demands 100% renewable decarbonized energy. Ok even if you wanted like 30% Solar that’s gonna require billions of solar panels. That’s not hyperbole - I mean here’s the math:
US net generation: 4,115,540 * .3 = 1,234,662 GWh/yr
220 x7.5X365 = 602,250wh/yr
(1,234,662/602.25)*1,000,000 = 2,050,082,191.78 panels
That’s a lot of material to manufacturer, and to manufacturer this many panels you need a lot of raw materials, which means you need to extract a lot of materials.
Yet not only does none of her legislation look at extraction of materials for the green new deal, the document literally calls for greater regulation to reduce pollution in mining which would reduce the efficiency in order to mass billions of panels.
Yet her big dream still demands completion in 10 years! How the heck they came up with timeframe? Don’t know it’s never explained…..
It’s incredibly bizzare given the fact that literally no scientific decarbonization plan ever published even remotely supports this timeframe.
Yet her solution every time is just right the man in government. If you don’t understand what is needed to make your a goal reality no amount of dealings in government is gonna make your dream a reality.

There are a lot of good energy sources to use but that doesn’t really change the fact that scale of development required is still astronomical and I don’t think a lot of people truly understand how big we are really talking. Especially if your gonna go 100% Renewable (which I don’t recommend) that’s gonna require significant quantities in solar and wind. Localized geothermal for residential consumption is beneficial for heating, but utility scale geothermal is geologically based (also don’t help that 4 major utility geothermal projects are currently on hold pending environmental review). Hydroelectric is a massive resource (currently makes up 92% of storage capacity in this country), but outside of localized FES and SEWS projects there’s limited potential growth due to volumetric and discharge rates that constrain utility scale. Tidal is still in its infancy, but really unless your coupling the technology with some serious storage capacity this technology isn’t the best as your greatest rates of production are based on tidal forces which very rarely coincide with peak consumption demand. Biomass is a decent option however depending on who you talk to in the 100% renewable crowd this entire sector may not be even supported (for example in Jacobsen et al Wind Water Solar 100% Renewable Transition for the US, biomass frequently surpasses in emissions greater than neutrality therefore cannot be reasonably considered to be a renewable source available to decarbonize this country).
Regardless of what you use, if you read through published decarbonization studies the scale of infrastructure is still measured in the BILLIONS of units. This is not a quick fix. Which leads to a contradiction in public understanding on your next point:

Well not be a negative Nancy, but I can already tell you you’re not gonna make it in 10 years. For a political group that claims they are on the right side of science they sure don’t read a lot of scientific literature….. You know why I can make this claim? Because believe it or not the scientific and engineering communities have been discussing and evaluating net-decarbonization plans for a very long time. In the evaluation process there are thousands of published meta-feasibility, constructibility and industrial engineering analysis of decarbonization plans which look at the total scope of work proposed in each plan and compare rates of production estimates in the plan to historical rates of manufacturing capacity, R&D progression, installation rates, construction rates, production rates, procurement rates, logistical rates etc.
Not a single published report to date finds that a 10 year timeframe would be statistically possible.
Yes we need to decarbonize as quick as possible, but throwing idea at the wall and making unrealistic timeframes for completion historically causes projects to get delayed, reducing efficiency and ultimately leading to an extended timeframe greater than well executed and plans with realistic timeframes for completion.
Yeah she might be an economist and a politician but when it comes to infrastructure development planning she is illustrated that she really has no idea the heck she’s talking about.
