To sum up from my perspective we should do the following: 1- Physical Movement - any sport like running 2- Mental Stimulation - seems to me like doing something a little harder than what you're used to as to workout our brains 3- Social Engagement 4- Stress Management - more stress than normal - continonous stress - will ruin your goals 5- Diet & Nutrition 6- Sleep, & Mental Rest - every machine needs a rest to keep high quality products * Change is hard, but it worth it. * Do not try to accomplish many goals at the same time, do it one by one according to priority. * "It has to be a team effort" - maybe do the previous with others who want to have a healthy brain.
Thank you. I was expecting him to say it in concrete terms and summarize at the end to facilitate learning. I listened to this while driving and didn't catch anything specific besides the exercise components and social aspect. I was furious until I read your response. Thanks again
Your brain’s health depends on a variety of factors. And while you can’t control your genetical predisposition, you do have control over other things that can help you stay healthy.
This content is so eye-opening! I read a book on the same topic that was transformational. "The Art of Saying No: Mastering Boundaries for a Fulfilling Life" by Samuel Dawn
Gosh. Someone steps out of the "5 steps to prevent cognitive decline" and it's a bucket of dog poo... Despite not being as concrete as I'm used to, it was very inspiring. And kind of sad to think he said this in 2014, and 4 years later people aren't the wiser, and therefore, still powerless.

I appreciated the information on keeping the brain healthy as long as I'm alive.

"The first thing you should do is something. And then you do two somethings, and then three somethings." Words to live by.
Really, though ...
Lol
It means START SOMEWHERE. I’m concerned about your cognition.
I enjoyed his calm voice. He was very informative, I completely enjoyed his talk.
What "strategies"? This is all rah-rah, protect your brain, it's important - I already knew that. Not one word about HOW.
i think it's Ted talks issue. They are the ones who create the title, not the speaker. The speaker is just trying to help you.
I agree.
Im 7 years too late but i must say , better late than never. I love this talk
Heard Professor Anunsen speak today. The research going on about the aging brain is fascinating!
Gee, sad that so many people wrote such negative comments. Do love the story of the 122.5 year old woman.

Agree with others. Lacking any useful info
You might want to do some research into a man called Li Ching Yuen. He was a Chinese herbalist that live to be around 200 years.
Newberg, OR? I wonder if the city he mentions has actually made substantial strides toward being brain-friendly. And what “brain-friendly” entails.

Why is everybody clapping? he basically said nothing.
Nice

All these videos of people talking but not Helping or having any actual concrete steps to take. SO FRUSTRATING!
You're such a smart girl
Go to 10:20 if you want to find out the "how". The story of the 122.5 year old is cool but the rest of his speech could put a meth head to sleep
i forgive you for the waste of my time.....
Aggghhhhhh wasted my time. No answers
Blue Skies good pep talk though lol
10:20 there's your answer
Do somethIng; then 2 somethings... What a Terrible talk!
Man what a voice this guy has
This would have been way more helpful if he told us WHAT to do. This was just a lot of words that could have been shortened to about 5 minutes.

not much useful information - more like a waste of time.

What a terrible talk. The worse TED talk that I watched.
What a dull looking empty vessel, saying nothing. Full of hot air.
