I've read all the Carpenters books published to-date and I can't wait for this one. I enjoyed this interview and especially the comments regarding their recent resurgence, which is so well-deserved. Their unique sound and records are timeless.

What an excellent interview! Thank you so much for such a wonderful interview! I so enjoyed being around you both at the Carpenters 50th Anniversay in Thousand Oaks in April of 2019. Hearing your voices here brings back so many wonderful memories. Love you both so much, and of course, Richard. I'm so fortunate to have met him and been around him in special circumstances three different times. He is still so passionate about the music. And being around him, it is so obvious how much he loves and still misses his precious sister. This new book is such a gift for us all! My copy will be delivered this week. I can hardly wait to see all the new, never seen before pictures, too; and to hear Richard's take on it all. He - well, they both - held back and tried so hard to be nice, pleasant, and easy to work with, as some in the industry did not. And sometimes Karen and Richard both hit their breaking point. Bless them. They went through some extremely difficult times, yet had to keep touring, keep recording, and try their best to keep smiling. So glad, happy and thankful that Richard is finally getting to tell his/their side of the story. Thank you all who were involved in this interview. Much love, hugs and appreciation to you all. 🤗❤

Fantastic interview, and I agree that Karen was the greatest female singer of all time. They were terribly mismanaged for such brilliant artists :(.

It is and will be very hard to separate the musical legacy to the early passing of Karen simply because it begs the unanswered question why didn't anyone try to save her

Thanks, but that question has been answered many times and it is always the same answer of "everyone around Karen asked Karen to get help and there wasn't any help there" with the continuation of "the help still isn't there either". There are about as many different reasons for someone becoming anorexic as there are anorexics and the psychological, psychiatric and therapeutic communities still keep trying to support and cling to an 'anorexic profile' that is a complete disaster and totally unsubstantiated by anyone except Cherry Boone. Honest, Karen Carpenter and Cherry Boone are nearly exact opposites of one another and Karen never fit that profile at all. But all these twisted tales and such from those trying to support that extremely faulty profile that some nut job came up with.
RUclips won't allow page links but if you change the dashes (-) in this to periods (.) then you can get to a web page that answers your question. And truthfully, there were things that had happened that even Richard hadn't known about and how can someone talk about something they really don't know? Richard has talked and he has always been honest. These anorexic profile pushers have never been honest and have twisted Karen's real story to the point of it isn't about Karen anymore, but about trying to substantiate a faulty profile that is passed being a rusty bucket that doesn't hold water anymore. So the link (kind of)

Edit, and really the question that needs to be answered I feel is "How is it always Richard's fault that other people came up with an inaccurate profile of an anorexic that never fit Karen?" And seriously, these are the same ones that profiled a "sex slave abductor" as being a loner that lives out in the middle of nowhere which they feel perfectly describes an actual sex slave abductor that worked as a bus driver in downtown Cleveland.

I wish people would stop calling them "Carpenters." "Carpenters" is what they used on their album covers for the logo. In that case, they dropped the "The." But if you watch a video here on YT of The Tonight Show hosted by Steve Martin with The Carpenters as guests (you'll have to find it yourselves; i'm not going to spoon feed you) Richard clearly states that it is "THE." So you *don't* say, "I love Carpenters' music," which sounds pretty idiotic, anyway. You say, "I love The Carpenters' music."
