Today we cover a vs matchup from one of the most underrated series when it comes to power scaling, Avatar the Last Airbender! More specifically we discuss who would win between the two most powerful female benders in the series, Azula vs Katara! Don't forget to like, comment and subscibe if you want to see more like this in the future.

Zuko thought he could take her because Azula was off her game, not because she was weaker. Her skill was off. It's like a boxer distracted by life struggles during a fight. They're not weaker they're just not focused. Prior to that Zuko and Azula fought to a stand still when she attacked the Western Air Temple, so he figured strength wise they were about equal Azula being less skilled in their last fight is why Zuko was able to overcome her, he was cool and collected, she was angry and reckless, they basically did a personality swap.
I thought it was common knowledge
So who will win a strong guy with really bad skill vs a weak guy with amazing skill
She is still weaker then her normal self
skill and technique is better than power/strength@@blackcatiscool
what? katara is stronger than ozai?!! so why we even need the avatar...-________________-
I always took it that Katara was the smartest bender and she definitely shows that in her battles.
Katara is very fast learner and she is a very powerful in water🌊 bender
@owen4487 who your favorite character in Avatar the last Airbender
The thing is with this matchup is tanta your mental state is is massively important, so even a 100x boost is useless compared to the mental fortitude of her other forms
I disagree since this is a character statement it’s not supposed to be treated like it’s a narrative statement, while I do agree Katara beats Azula, Ozai wasn’t a bender when Iroh said this, we also have to take into account the benders Iroh has viewed and the ones he hasn’t
Iroh has seen all of the powerful benders in the show so it is still the same outcome in scaling.
@@j.43 I mean combustion man made her seem like cannon fodder. I'd probably say Combustion man is above Azula and Katara
Excellent video. Good work!
They are essentially polar opposites of each other. Both prodigies in their bending but completely different in upbringing, status, mental health, and relationships. Idk if creators meant for that contrast but it’s no coincidence why they are constantly compared to each other
We need more videos like this
Nice take bro
Great video!
Great analysis I strongly agree with this statement!!
interesting, but the sozin comet and super sayin buff arent comparable the super sayng aplies to all stats while the comet to only power/firebending so firebender under the comet unlike super sayins arent moving 100 times faster and even though azula is hiting way harder all that power is useless if you dont hit anything and its not shown that the comet increases there projectile speed.
I think he was just trying to make an example for people didn't get it and since he does alot of dragon ball that was his first idea to compare
Most of the time when people do dragon ball they are just thinking of the power amp and not the other stats amp
So he was comparing it through the power part nor the other parts
2:25 for clips btw you can use them if they’re under 5 secs and then you cut to a different frame🙏
This is the first video of yours I have no issues with. 👍
W vid bro
katara should win she has the advantange but she cant play around as she has some serious disatavanges blood bendling is useful but at long range it useless and with lighting bending having the second best range only beat by explosion and water limitation being a serious problem its funny how her little bag of water is endless always having way water more than should fit there resource limitation is never actualy used properly.
Not to mention using water may actually put her at a disadvantage if Azula uses her lightning.
Blood bending itself seems to only work for Katara during a full moon. So if Katara can sneak attack during a full moon and blood bend then that’s the only way I see her winning.
@@jakd2962she used water to stop & block azula's lightnings LOL
Azula's fans are delusional asf 😂
Uh literally no, the closest fight we see of Katara and Azula Both being at a good state is in the crossroads of destiny, and in case u didnt watch it, Katara kind of ate her up.@@jakd2962
There are variables to such things, people dont seem to understand that.
Power Scaling in Avatar is very circumstancial.
Results will vary based on terrain, mental state, abilities, current choice of strategy etc
In the crystal caves at the end of Book 2 things favored Katara.
There was plenty of water available near her and it was closed off AKA not a sunny day to help Azula.
Zuko was really strong in the cave cause he was both enraged and extremely focused on the task after deciding to join Azula.
In that instance he was objectively stronger than Azula,it was a big moment for him.
He evenly matched Katara while Katara had the edge on Azula.
Normally however at that point in time,Azula was more powerful than Zuko
Things vary a lot more for Waterbenders.
What hour of the day is it?
How much water is available?
What ability are they using?
In Book 3 Zuko proved to be capable of fully stalemating Azula as of their fight on top of the air ships.
He needed Kataras assistance not cause he couldnt match her but he couldnt taker her down.
He could only stalemate her.
With Kataras help, who they knew would be massively weaker than them due to the Comet Zuko was gonna safely beat Azula and "put her in her place".
In Smoke and Shadows Zuko actually matched and even OVERPOWERED Azula in their fire dagger contest which forced her to get angry and kick him instead.
Somehow fans believe that makes her more powerful than Firelord Zuko.
Yet she also kicked down Aang before(and Aang is confirmed the strongest of the group)
Cool vid
Can you do a video on how powerful is polkadot man from the dceu just like what you did with spot please
I get the analysis and conclusion, but the contradiction is what actually what happens in the main story anime. Because Azula was always portrayed as greater than Katara. Anytime a reference point is telling us someone is stronger than another person instead of showing us. That’s a weak point to begin with. Personally based on what we have seen in the anime Azula is stronger than Katara. Now if we’re talking about enhanced peak power then I’ll give it to Katara every single time. For obvious reasons. A crazy SSJ2 Goku is a literal Universe Stronger than Base form Goku. No comparison period. The main thing for the avatar is advantages versus weaknesses. If Katara has access to more water it is more likely in her advantage to win or at least hold off for Zula. But if Katara is limited with her resource to water she is going to lose without a doubt.
The times when both fought against each other, Katara was winning. So is clear that Katara scales above Azula, she even fought and won against a comet-powered Azula and won.
from what we’ve seen in the “anime”💀,azula isnt stronger than katara.
@@258Loures You easily forget, it was team Avatar versus Azula. This is b4 Zuko joined the team. The only person who was Stronger than Azula was Aang. Toph could get the jump on her at times. But that was never in a 1v1. What made Azul dangerous is not only her power, but her evil mind. If she had a lethal shot, she would take it. Zuko would not.
@@k.c.4384 Team Avatar & Uncle Iroh were all against Azula at one time. In the crystal cave, Katara was far stronger than her previous self. But again. Her advantage is all based on her water supply. With Aang knocked out. Katara ran to retreat, not hold her own against Azula.
Uncle Iroh is powerful, yet all he could do was hold Azula off, not overpower her. Especially since Zuko betrayed them. The only thing that makes Katara more powerful than Azula, and everyone else, is her blood bending.
Seing that she literally never uses it, it is a skill set she has. But cannot be counted bcuz not using a power is considered the same as not having it. Aang was nearly killed by Azula. Katara never once used blood bending. Azula wins.
@@jordanglasper1064 Team avatar was immensely sleep deprived atp. In the show. Azula literally dipped when because she knew she couldn’t take them all at once. Later on we see Katra and azula face off and Azula never wins. She also loses to katara multiple times in the comics after the show ends. Why keep trying to change whats already happened? We know she loses against katara. This point is made very clear, throughout the show and books. Aang, Sokka, and Toph could barely even touch azula when she couldn’t even bend. Katara beating her is coincidence. You’re ignoring what’s already been shown because you want azula to be better💀
Katara became the best water bender of her generation, she was still learning when she fought azula, I think azula has superior strength and agility but katara has higher battle IQ and reaction timing, she has had to spar with both toph the best earth bender ever and aang
@@madman8393 I said Azula was smarter but katara wasn’t at her best yet, she became the best though, she was also arguable the greatest healer ever
@@madman8393tell ‘em bro they still don’t get it
@@askthecheesegaming3165plus katara’s element is far superior in power than azula’s firebending, scientifically speaking
it depends on the moon or sun...so isn't even the players.
Azula was nerfed and katara was amped and in the comics in her healing arc it says that she feels weightless now implying that she always had a mental nerf until season 3 were she just completely lost it I’m not saying she wins but it’s a lot closer than you think and the sozin comet fight yeah she lost but don’t pretend like Katara was more powerful she knew she couldn’t beat her and that the only way was to outsmart her she was running the whole fight and it was super close like 1 second close it isn’t hard to make a mental insane person fall in a trap y’all again I ain’t saying she wins I’m just saying there’s context to each fight and that the fight is a lot closer than y’all think
If there’s a full moon Katara wins here. Blood bending is incredibly OP, literally puts you at the mercy of the bender.
If it’s without the moon then it could side with Azula who I feel is a more intelligent fighter and is not beneath using low blows to win a fight.
Here lightning attacks could be deadly, and if Katara can’t dodge it then she’s done.
Also water conducts electricity so using water may actually hurt Katara if Azula decides to shoot lightning while Kartara is water bending.
Id say Azula is the 3rd best fire bender on the planet.
@@madman8393 she’s behind Iroh and Ozai. She’s ahead of every other fire bender.
Iroh has shown to be able to overpower her and Ozai is just a beast, only aang could actually beat him 1v1.
Nah, Katara has blocked Azula's lighting before without getting hurt, check the book 3 finale
Except you forgot that katara wouldn’t use bloodbending and doesn’t like using it it’s just during a full moon her waterbending gets amped and that’s when katara has a better chance at beating her and she’s azula is top three forsure
@@jakd2962and even then aang struggled to fight him and needed the avatar state to overpower ozai
@@lebrondavis1420 aang actually could of killed him without the avatar state by redirecting lighting. He just chose not to because it’s against his morals.
l want to see more avatar video ❤️❤️❤️
I would definitely watch more Avatar vids
It's very accurate, for me its obvious from the start that katara destroys azula, bloodbending is already too strong and azula would not be able to fight back even at her peak.
YO nobody else notices how, when he talks about something non-related to db he doesn't get views but when he talks abot db he gets over 1k views
You should really start scaling cartoons in general, plenty of shows have examples of inverse scaling that aren't really gone into on RUclips, like Amphibia, Star vs or Kid Cosmic.
also being off your game can make huge difference in fights from my experice it makes you slower less accurrate is the difference betwenn being profesional athlete and amauter something like 20%+ difference its like the difference betwen michael jordan and a basket player you havent heard in fightig what separates the best in the world and 10th is often only like 10%
W take
Going based off base form with no power-ups and an even playfield I might go with Katara. This battle would be very close though and in terms of martial arts Azula clearly is much better
Katara is probably the strongest bender ever (excluding the avatar) .... her progression was insane
Agreed
One word, blood bending
It can be resisted, and Katara didn’t master the technique.
It can only be used on a full Moon. Some don't need it (Amon, ect) But Katara never learned how to do it without a Full Moon.
Lightning 🥱
@@toxicytchanel5182 Katara blocked 4 Lightning bolts from azula during the agni kai with water
@@kemalthom475 look at what happend to ming yui in TLOK and that that was makos lightning proven to be way weaker
Let's make it simple. Katara and Azula fought in the crystal catacombs. Both were fully concentrated, no mental instability or drama on their heads. And Katara HAD Azula against the ropes. She water-whipped her arm and leg. If Zuko hadn't interfered (and if the show wasn't in Nickelodeon) Katara would have pulled a Kratos fatality. Imagine what she would have done to Zuko afterwards for his treason. The fire nation would be down all heirs to the throne. And aang would have just stayed back and let it happen, to afraid to anger his future wife😂
And that was just the end of Book 2. Katara still got better at her craft and got bloodbending.
Anything else?
She lifted her jumping distance that isnt gonna do anything yall are so delusional haha
@@jay-ic3bnshe would have slammed azula into the ground and then would have beat her ass lmao ur calling us delusional? Quit crying azula got one shot
@@jay-ic3bn she had Azula caught, breh. Just say you don't pay attention to the show and go LOL the only one delusional and simping for Azula is you
@@jay-ic3bnYou're missing the point that Katara metaphorically cornered Azula when she was at her peak and Katara was still getting better. Whether or not she was breaking her legs or just lifting her is irrelevant.
@@jay-ic3bn People who think Azula is stronger than Katara are the most delusional, because they can’t even accept what in the series happens. Every time Azula fought Katara she lost miserable. Not even close. And Katara hasn’t even use blood bending against her, just water bending was enough to defeat her. And Katara got even stronger in the comics and she is by far the most skilled and strongest water bender of all time.
😲
Fun fact: katara won every time they fought lol
I guess electricity isn't super effective against water...
Lighting was never shown to be a counter to water. It's more like the ultimate one-shot move against living beings.
Was rooting for my girl katara from the jump, glad to see I was right 🤭
Do Korra vs Aang
You have a discord ?
He does
I can handle Katara stans claiming shes more powerful than Azula just fine, she definitely scales to her in some aspects but above Ozai?! Bruh, you need to elaborate more on that. Cause to me and anyone with an iq above room temperature, thats just ludacris!
I think an azula who's mentally stable should win.
Same
Mentally unstable azula was winning, katara had to sneak here with hidden water
@@dain6492Facts!
@@dain6492 with amped fire and lightning if they on the same playing field katara win stable or not
A stable Azula already fought and was losing against Katara, did y'all forget about the Catacombs?
Toph vs king boomie who yall got?
Boomie? 😂 I'm going with Toph.
Its more like ss2 goku that lost his skills. Cuz mental stability is required for skilled firebending 4:20
Haven't finished the video yet but the actual series flat-out shows Katara is a hard counter to Azula. In The Crossroads of Destiny Azula was straight-up beaten by Katara before Zuko stepped in, so in a 1v1 Katara just has her beat.
EDIT: How the fuck did this end up being a BIGGER stomp for Katara than I thought?
@jamainegardner4193 Katara is insanely powerful overall though
I think something most power scalers miss is something I like to call the middle ground
Even if one contender is the obvious winner
It dosent always mean they win
The other person could be smarter, have an unfair advantage etc.
This does happen sometimes in stories where the weaker contender that in a vs debate would get slapped wins because of this
I'm not the best scaler out there but something I will note is
Most of the time katara gets the upper hand she has the advantage
In the crystal caves she had tons of water around and in the final fight with them from the show she tricks azula into coming on the vents where she has tons of water to use
When a water bender has tons of water around they are more deadly then when there is less water
I know the most skilled benders can take it out of the air or use their sweat and other bodily fluids but
Most waterbenders don't do that and are therefore their most powerful around water
And especially at nighttime which I recall getting brung up when the vastly stronger zuko from the first book got knocked out by katara if I recall where she mentioned that zuko was at his best when the sun was up and she was at her best with the moon
Having bodies of water nearby is kinda busted
If I recall everytime the fire nation attacks water benders near water they usually lose or get more numbers tooken out
It's not that hard to cover them in water and freeze them or just send them flying with a gust of water
Basically what I'm saying is most of the time azula is at a disadvantage or is outplayed by katara
Water puts out fire and while azula can turn water to steam the water can also put out the fire
When katara grabbed azulas leg and arm with the water in that first fight in the crystal caves azula was kinda at a severe disadvantage because she was essentially missing 2 important limbs to firebend and was being unbalanced having to stand on one leg
In that final fight atleast from what I've seen multiple times in the fight katara had to use cover and get away from the sozins comet inspired fires being shot at her and she won by just a hair by baiting azula over a grate full of water
At that point all katara needed to do was throw the water up and freeze it and it's game over
Most of the time when the water bender has already gotten you with the water it's game over if they freeze it because your now immobile which I saw happen in the comic you showed
Basically what I'm saying is
It depends on environment, what time of day, amps, and who is being the smarter fighter and outsmarts the other
Obviously unhinged azula things she that guy and thinks she can win through her pure "quote on quote superior power" alone
Good video but I disagree
based lonk strikes again
Korra vs aang next🫢🫢
korra wins when they both go into the avatar state korra has all the power Annge does and more plus the knowledge
I have to dissagree with you outcome as we saw a azula that was not insane and had zero fire bending abilities hold her own vs 3 benders and a saka with sword training. Put that Azula vs katara and i dont think katara wins in fact unless there happens to be a blood moon then she loses. Luckly for katara Azula never finds out about blood bending cause im sure she would come up with a way to counter it
azula just was fleeing, she could beat any
1: Katara wasn't one of those benders
2: Azula had backup from three Dai Li agents, who have been shown in the past to at least match or overpower any one member of Team Avatar.
3: There was only two benders that confronted Azula, those being Toph and Aang. Toph being someone who struggles with light-footed opponents (Azula being comparable to Ty Lee in that regard) and Aang not having any way of restraining her.
The only time we see them in a fair 1v1 is Book 2 and it's made clear Katara hard-counters Azula.
I think Katara is piecing up azula im ngl
Hiiii please respond
Katara slams
In the comet fight if there wasent that water source katara would have died lighting to the face but if katara has a water source she should win but i wonder if azula could win if there also fire sources though they are rarer than water and more easily extighed.
but resource limitaion is never properly implimed with the earth and water losing when in a spot with non abundant resouces to the more versatily air and fire and considering the world is made of 70% water there always should be water near by but not always eneugh id give katara a 70%-75% wining chance asuming a fight was picked in random location even in forest the plants water can give katara a fighting chance however at nerfed state witch id say azula would win most of the time
Katara learned to bend water from the air itself
“Even Zuko….” 😂😂😂
First
This video was pointless. In their first real fight (book 2) katara was overpowering her at every turn and would have broken her had Zuko not stepped in.
So Katara is better than aang…?
I saw aang blow azula back after running down a wall 200mph and landing on a boulder and 15 seconds later she was sliding down the drill to meet Mai and tai lee like nothing ever happened but Katara was gonna break her cuz she covered her arm and leg in water….? U must be the type of person to call people itachitards since u obviously can’t realize when the writer has to nerf the character who’s obviously better than the rest….u know kinda like how Amon died from his brother committing suicide while being the obvious strongest bender ever y’all still don’t get it
@@Animatedelite in water bending yes she is better than aang. She was the best of their show. Incredible healer, blood bender, and honestly hadn't lost to any benders 1v1 since the start of book 2.
@Animatedelite lol you must not understand that had aang hit azusa with that force directly she would've died. Not to mention that slam was an earth bending slam which was his weakest bending.
Yes that water would've broken her arm and leg. Not to mention she almost sliced azulas face off when they first started going at it and had azula on the back foot of that fight the entire time. Don't try to discredit the obvious because you have a bias for azula.
@@thatguyoverthere2217 his weakest bending is fire ? What are u talking about did u even watch the show lol and how much more direct did u want that to be she was literally standing right in front of him she’s obviously not gonna go under the boulder that’s already sticking In the drill and that wasn’t even earth bending it was air bending everything you said was false go study more
Well, you see.
Creators > Iroh
Creators have much more weight than their creations speaking.
If that statement is after the war, it means that Azula was not there anymore to compete. She got to keep her bending and she did a lot of feats to prove the otherwise when they went to seek her and Zukos mother.
Iroh's words are worth nothing, really.

Why do people want avatar to be an "anime" so bad?
if katara used blood bending she could beat azula, without it lightning would just over power katara eventually
It baffles me that fans still wonder about this match up. Katara won 2 times out of three. The first one was straight up over power and the second one was a sound defeat with LIMITED access to water.
what really baffles me is the fact they still keep saying azula is stronger lol
@@madman8393 is fair, firebenders have always fire at hand
@@madman8393 so they were on even grounds and Azula lost
Imagine not being able to realize wen a main character receives plot armor 😂 you must get toasted in debates a lot
@@Animatedelite imagine thinking plot armor is a thing and feeling smart about it🤣🤣
I think you should keep three things in mind:
First, when we talk about who is stronger, we assume the hypothetical situation that the two opponents are at the peak of their powers in an environment where they both have the opportunity to use said powers to their full potential. Then we decide which of the two wins more often in 100 hypothetical fights. Secondly, anyone who has ever fought in real life or practiced sports such as fencing knows that even someone who is better than another can win a duel through luck and chance. That means that just because you won the fight doesn't necessarily make you a better fighter, but it is still sufficient proof of fighting skill. Third, you're misunderstanding the point of Azula's madness: she's no less powerful, but her bending technique during combat is incredibly sloppy and imprecise compared to before. She no longer acts calculatedly and carefully but only instinctively, guided by anger. If she had fought like she used to, I think Katara would have been killed very quickly. I think it also plays a role, especially between the two of them, that Azula isn't very good at waterbending. The ice thing wouldn't have worked on Zuko for example, remember their fight at the North Pole and how easily Zuko melted and blasted Katara's ice. I think that, assuming Azula, like Zuko, learns to fend off waterbending better, she could very well defeat Katara. I think the two are equally strong.
As for things like bloodbending, she would probably be able to retaliate with lightning, either killing Katara or at least forcing her to let go. If we're talking about hypothetical powers that firebenders might have, it would be interesting to see how Katara reacts to Azula draining heat from her body, or heating her body up like Sozin took heat from lava. Additionally, human muscles can also be manipulated with electricity, it would be interesting how Azula or some firebender who has mastered lightning generation to such a high degree that they can manipulate a human body, an electricbender so to speak, beats a bloodbender. These are abilities that future series should explore in Avatar. I believe that fire has much more potential when it comes to undiscovered abilities
