I’ve been on PLENTY of 10000ft mountains in places like California, Oregon, Nevada, etc. And at least in summer, Haleakala is EASILY the coldest. A jacket is recommended for this reason and to help prevent sunburn in the very concentrated high altitude Hawaiian sun.
Have you gone to big island.. I'm wondering about bike rentals(electric bikes) where to view the lava? And where to rent the bikes.. with the littlest hike possible.
Unfortunately the hiking in the crater has been all but destroyed by disrespectful and lazy tourists going off trail and ruining the views. It's just not what it used to be.
You are the best trying to explain all the places you visit. Detail is very important.
+Perciliana Munford Thanks Perceliana!
That's one of my favorite places on Maui ... in fact, one of my favorite places on earth! This is a good information video on it. Mahalo.
Thanks Visit Live Love Maui!
We were just up at Haleakala yesterday day at sunset. This place is amazing!
How busy was it for you?
Thank you. Your videos are exactly what I was looking for. Excellent information!!
+Tony Watson Thanks Tony!
I ventured up Haleakala just a few months ago, the day before Halloween. I remember it being rather chilly. Also remembered the free roaming cattle.
Thanks, great video. I just finished the hike and it took me 5 hrs RT..Exhausting but rewarding.
Awesome Nev!
Those views at the top look really awesome! It makes for a great escape from the heat and humidity in the rest of Maui!
+Scottman895 Travel Quite impressive views!
Thank you. I am going to Maui in a few days and this was very helpful.
Aloha Lynette!

+John O'Donnell Thanks John!

Good video but Silver Swords also grow on the slopes of Mauna Kea on the Big Island as well.
Thanks for the correction!!!

Thanks

Very nice video, thank you! What month was that when you were there? We are going in April, wonder if I need a coat?
You will need a coat all year... it's really cold up there. I think this was in January or February.. but its just generally cold up there!

+ace s Hi Ace. I have not been to Big Island. I wish you a good trip though! :)
Great video
Are you able to go to the science center to view the sunrise/sunset?
No. It's only for military personnel
Hi, What time did you get there? Thanks
+Anuka Anuka Hi Anuka... We got there at about 2pm.
So it's $20 now? Great video by the way!
Thanks Ron. It was $20 when I shot this video.. it's $25 now
1 person disliked it because they didn't get to go
Doc Z, is that you?!
Your Maui videos are great, but you butcher the Hawaiian names.😂
+FitFam Thanks FitFam.. Yeah... I struggle with the Hawiaan pronunciation. I guess I'm giving it a Southern California accent :)
Yellow Productions Haha, it's all good.

Bummer!
Considered showing this to my 7th grade students but I'm from Maui and I can't accept name butchering with my kids. They learn the REAL way or no way.
You can turn the volume off and it can be a silent movie :)
It looks like Nasa could have faked the moon landing there lol
+socalseth Hah! It did feel like the moon! Maybe with just more gravity and oxygen! :)
BTFO HANS.
Topher is hands down the greastest stuffed animal-based hotel review metric.
