EVERY song is credited on the description so check that out before making any questions! And I will respectfully ask all of you to tone down the vocal theory conversation. I only made this video to compilate some clips of Mitch singing and I would love if the comments actually focused on that. Also thank you for putting up with me and for almost 800 suscribers!
Pamela Bravo i posted a video of me singing a small section of a song am i using the mixed voice in that clip i think the top note is G4 but i could barely hit a G4 in my vocal range video am i using my mix?
Pamela Bravo i have a problem i got into and argument with a mitch fan i said that mitches range is F2-E5-Bb5-F6(C7) i was kind enough to include mitchs melodic inhalled notes but the mitch fan keeps insisting that mitch has a 6 octave range and the mitch fan is getting salty over it and keeps swearing
just dim Mitch's range is E2-E5-A5 and thats what it is, there's no point with making his range bigger with non melodic squeaks or growls. Range doesn't equal talent, so people shouldnt feel threatened that he doesn't sing on six octaves everyday. His usable range is about B2-B4-G#5, and he still manages to be one of the best tenors in the pop industry with less than three octaves. There's no point in pretending he has more than that when range doesnt make him a great vocalist, but his talent, technique and musicianship does.
Pamela Bravo thankyou if only you were there to tell him for some reason he sited oddesey and said they were proffesionals the mitch fan was being so disrespectful i just deleted my original comment
Pamela Bravo and also do you think people over exagerate mitchs range because mitch is an amazing singer but people keep talking about his range and his inhaled notes even tho his inhalled notes dont count they keep saying they do and that annoys me so im forced to put inhalled notes to satisfy them
Mitch has done a proper A5 and A#5 in pure head voice as well. He did it in a super fruit video called “Recreating our favourite vines” or something like that.
very good job even tho you included some masky head voice like 7:43 and 8:00 and surprise surprise he has another supported F#5 in Havana .... take on me's E5 - F#5 - E5 will always be iconic
ruclips.net/video/IHUNWCs6_o0/видео.html 3:44 i totally forgot this video it would have been so funny as a bonus at the end with todrick shade after it too
Thanks so much for making these videos, I really appreciate how much effort you always put into your complications like this, and I’m absolutely in heaven listening to Mitch’s gorgeous voice. This was such a genuine pleasure to watch ❤️
P.S. Oh my god, and also thank you so so SO much for putting a list all the video clips used with timestamps in the description box, that must have taken so much time but it’s such a kind and amazing thing to do- you really are a star 😊
No it was head voice. The reason why it sounds so "grounded" like chest voice is that it is supported. MOST PEOPLE EVEN THOSE WHO ARE TRAINED WELL cant support head voice its so hard which is why Mitch is considered one of the best tenors.
Thank you very much for your videos, they have helped me a lot. I have difficulty finding difference between "Pure HV and Mask Placed HV" , I can't differentiate the sound sometimes... help me ❤
I'd say that the main difference is the metallic and twangy quality that appears when Mitch masks his head voice, as well as a way more nasal sound compared to his pure hv. Notice that the A4 in 4:13 is slighty masked and it immediately becomes more metallic and nasal. Or at 7:34, notice how his head voice becomes twangier and more nasal when he sings "and it was perfect". Basically that's it. It's not easy to tell the difference, since changing your placement is something relatively easy and quick to do, so here there are some slightly masked notes mixed with the rest. It's easier to distinguish it with clear microphones. In the Can't Sleep Love performance at Popspring you can clearly hear how twangy and metallic Mitch sounds whem singing the high note.
Right off the bat, I'm going to admit that I don't know all the technical stuff about music so this is not judgement or anything. But are neither of his solos in La La Latch sung in head voice? When I saw the title of the video, for some reason that's the first song that came to mind. Regardless, great video! I could listen to Mitch sing anything in any register or note or tone or whatever the correct word is. Never even heard of those words in relation to music until I started listening to Pentatonix. Lol.
what i call "pure head voice" in the video is basically a head placement of his head voice. it's common for male singers to place their head voice/falsetto on the mask/nasal cavities to make it sound more steely/"stronger"/like a belt, and mitch does plenty of that too (the la la latch chorus, the climax in aha, just to mention a couple). i was looking for clips where his head voice sounded like, you know, head voice, since he has a really good head voice but it's often lost because people like to focus on the "steely" notes more.
@@pb2560 Oh ok. I think I get it. I’ve heard of masked, mixed and head voices. Only from PTX videos though. Lol. Never really understood the difference. Thanks for explaining it.
I learned how to do falsetto/headvoice (idk honestly lol) by listening to PTX when I became their fan. But I think I'm using bad technique compared to Mitch! Can somebody help me please? 🙂
Newbie to the whole vocal ranges thing - I’ve been researching and doing my HW, but I can still get a bit lost. Is Mitch not considered a countertenor?
He could fill a countertenor rol, but the countertenor rol is not a vocal fach comparable to other classifications. It's just a male voice suited on a high register on falsetto/head voice. Both baritones and tenors could fill that role, so the concept doesn't sufice a voice classification. I would argue countertenors don't exist in pop music cause the term just can't be replicated outside it. And Mitch's voice has all the characteristics of a tenor. It's just a matter of understanding that countertenor doesn't work as a vocal fach like concepts like tenor and baritone do, and whether you think that the countertenor role could be translated to contemporary music.
@Hey Whats' You have given great points about his voice being more feminine than that of a Lyric Tenor (even many Light Lyric ones we know of) and his tessitura being higher. That's why I initially thought he must have been a Coutertenor but his head voice isn't really displaying that. For him to be a Leggiero, he has to be exceptionally agile. Eg. Is he as agile as Avery Wilson (mind you Avery isn't a Leggiero). ruclips.net/video/ris5gGXaJvQ/видео.htmlm39
@Hey Whats' 👀 You just showed that he may truly be a Leggiero because I truly feel like even though he hasn't displayed it (at least to my knowledge) he has the potential to be even more agile than Avery!

You made this on Mitch's birthday😍😍 He's so talented ❤️❤️
Haha, isn't it tomorrow? Happy Mitch Grassi Eve everyone!
Pamela Bravo I live in Croatia, so it's today😊
Wow Mitch Grossi. What a beautiful soul with a voice of an angel. Thank you for giving so many blessing!!

Yes he did
His head voice is the most beautiful thing i've ever heard
I could listen to his beautiful voice forever
Mitch is so talented. His voice is so good and amazing
I'm so in love with Mitch's voice!!
This is how heaven sounds like
Super tenor!
Bless us with another video of this angel!!! Thanks babe 👼

BAZISSINO 94 Thanks!! I tried to choose the less masky ones haha, not an easy job. I just love that Worth It high note so much!

I LOVE MITCH'S VOICE 💖💚💙🥰
Wow wow wow, such a long compilation, it was worth the wait! You really went for it, didn't you?))
Thank you for the video, gonna watch it on repeat

6:24 is this a mixed F5? I'm pretty sure his isn't head voice/masked head voice, it has chest voice in it. Wow Mitch can actually mix that high.
It may be a "super" heady mix, but yeah I think that too...

I love everything about this!

I think that his head voice start to sound more resonant above Bb4/B4
0:51 honestly sounds mixed in my honest opinion. But this video was needed tbh. I can't do the mask placed head voice.
3 Months later and I disagree with myself
SuperPianogirl123 lol I can relate ❤
with how light is his coordination there honestly it normal
7:42 that sounds a lot like mixed voice to me! And so easy!
8:06 this too!
❤️
is he countertenor?
That is my question also
Yes he can switch between his tenor leggero and counter tenor area

how do I achieve Mitch female type chest voice?
Either sing with a high larynx or be born with it
What's the song at 5:04??
every song is credited in the description :)
Dance of the sugar plum ?vocal?
God rest merry chendemen ?vocal?
Both are G#5 but they're not pure headvoice, they're mask placed.
0:26 name?
Run to You by Pentatonix, but every video is credited and linked on the description!
@@pb2560 oh dear, im so sorry i did not think to read your description.
I thought Kevin was the one doing the head voice part in "Run to you"
0:26 I'm pretty sure the B4 to A4 is actually from Kevin
Avi 😭😭
If this is really his "pure head voice" then he isn't a Countertenor but rather a Light Lyric Tenor.
Yes, exactly
@Hey Whats': I am tenor also ( I don’t what kind of tenor am I) my vocal range, now C3- A4, old: C#1- A5.
@Hey Whats' You have given great points about his voice being more feminine than that of a Lyric Tenor (even many Light Lyric ones we know of) and his tessitura being higher.

@Hey Whats': changed octave
A lot of the start was just breathy falsetto but sure
Quite a small portion, yeah. I was mainly looking for a head placement on his upper register.
I thought Kevin was the one doing the head voice part in "Run to you"
According to the official music sheet for this song, Mitch is the one singing the B and the A while Kevin sustains a G.
Pamela Bravo oh okay, thank for clarifying it! :)
M i r r o r Only one left there is Scott (Avi and Kirstie sustain the C), so Scott.
