nice! you spotted pretty much all the mechanics, the hardest part of UCOB (and not something you can tell from a single run) is that basically everything has some sort of randomness involved. ie., for Nael in part 2 each time they do a mechanic they will pick from a few set groups of mechs, but to figure out which one they're doing you have to read the text box that pops up and decipher it, and while that's happening each person can get targeted by doom, lightning (spread), the white puddle, a fire aoe and an ice ball. so yeah it can get very hectic :P
Yeah what cyanphoenix said is true and becomes truer in some other fights. Certain mechanics will ask that each player know how to do any given permutation so the consistency in progressing hinges on that
@@JustRuss Thats what makes ultimate's so daunting. As someone eluded too earlier, its about consistency and endurance. You need to be able to learn many different permeations of EACH mechanic and do them consistently enough to get a clear. IIRC Echo Esports took like 2000 pulls to clear DSR and TOP Ultimate is designed to not just test your ability to play your job and your role, but adapt to many differently changing mechanics, on the fly CONSISTANTLY for a 17+ min fight.
someone has probably already said this but the hardest part of ultimates is the endurance. You have to be at extreme difficulty or higher mechanics for a much much longer fight
@@JustRuss Yeah the good thing about that is that savage really does a good job of preparing you mentally and skillwise for an ultimate, especially going through an entire savage tier or even multiple ones it makes it much smoother when you do ultimate.
deathcob is fine, they just farm deaths and perma wall/sacc a tank. The worst is doing 1 Neurolink ucob, they're all stacked in the center of the arena which makes the strats really cursed
Man, watching myself play is like watching a griefer play, this was really not the run, bad decisions on my part, lag at 14:53, lots of dps deaths. It was a miracle this PF cleared lol but that is somewhat of the reality with SB ults, they're power crept pretty hard. Great fight though, l definitely recommend giving it a go. Enjoyed your analysis of the mechanics too, you got most of them pretty quickly.
Hahah we all make mistakes but you guys got the clear! Yep I've heard UCOB and UWU are the easiest ones because of the potency changes over time. I've give it a go for sure, hopefully in the not too distant future. Thanks for uploading your kill! I know you said you weren't happy with your gameplay looking back on it, but at least that shows you've improved since this kill :D
The reason why players are so particular about how they dodge twisters is because it used to be 10x harder to avoid twisters when Twin was first released because the game had a built in 800ms delay which made dodging timed mechanics like twisters and landslides even tighter.
Kinda weird how the last however many people I’ve seen do reacts to ultimates always seem to search for/are linked to just some random people clearing instead of like… world first or something about that old?
Oh yeah, the raid the wow "elite top tier raiders" guild tried and failed for weeks upon weeks blind until they "suddenly" knew what to do, as if they looked it up, _strangely_ ..
Hi Russ! I've been following your vids and vods as they appear. I'm curious if you have an interest in trying the ultimates, and if you might try blind prog? I haven't blind progged because i find it intimidating, however I will say that you're getting foundational knowledge of the mechanics from the savage raids that they're based off of.
I am currently a bit skeptical on blind prog since I’ve already felt how draining it can be on some of the longer Alexander fights like Brute Justice. However I may try the first couple of phases of UWU blind before getting stuck, at which point I’ll refer to a guide

Excellent cooking Russ, I cannot wait to see you tackle your first ultimate, hopefully it will be a fun experience for you!
Definitely! Planning to at least start UCOB this year. I think I can get it down in 2-3 months of raiding a couple times per week.

Oh yeah that sounds a little weird, I don't like random rotations of mechanics - especially when it comes to longer punishing fights

@@JustRusswhat makes it better is nael is so early. If it were later in the fight that would be rough

Yep! Having just got through Brute Justice blind and MINE, I have felt the burnout from length of fight

There is an odd challenge called death cob, where people try to get as many deaths and still clear. I think it got to 90+

Both of these sound kinda silly and fun! Love that people are making up affixes for their kills haha

Just wanted to see a clean dragoon POV so I could relate a bit

Hahah I think i've heard the drama about this :P
I don't know about this drama but I'm curious, could you elaborate?
"Obama, we shall stand guard as you make ready your divine judgement!"
There's no way this dancer isn't getting kicked out of the static lol they got those connections going.
"Little" behind you say? If that's little then the Earth is just an asteroid lmao
Working on it!

I’m the WHM in this run!! Omg what a chaotic c41 😂😂
Ohhhh shit! That’s awesome! It’s cool the dragoon whose POV we watch was also in the comments here. Crazy that you both found the video by chance
wtf you uploaded this like right after my static cleared for the first time after months of prog
It’s the victory lap!
A clear is a clear 😂
sweet summer child, so unaware of quotes.
Hahah yeah I'm now under the impression theres some trickery with Nael's speech bubbles
that is...quite a scuffed POV
A clear is a clear and they got the job done. No need to be mean to a random person(s).
@@JustRuss yeah obviously. But jeez :D
just stating the fact tho, not even remotely being mean.
@@DrZlow I mean, do you really need to say it?
@@JustRuss why not? It is the internet after all.
@@JustRuss you sometimes react weird to stuff that is normal to say in ffxiv community man. On stream or in game or in comments :) still adjusting?
