    To be honest, when I played through the story the first time, Haurchefant WAS one of my favorite characters. He was there for my WoL in one of her most emotionally fragile times, and what little I could see of his obvious interest struck me as affectionate and endearing (this was before the MSQ was trimmed). But what caught my heart and loyalty forever was when I saw what his reaction had been to her fight with Shiva. It's a throw-away line, how he had to be held back by several people to keep from charging into the fight to aid us, but it meant the world to my WoL. So many people were treating her more like the Weapon of Light and not as a friend, and then Haurchefant was not only willing, but TRIED to charge into a *Primal* fight without the benefit of the Echo's protection.
    I knew nothing of his fate and I fell HARD for him in that moment.
    By the way, I salute your accomplishments. Well done.

    The nature of ultimates lends itself to so much stuff, I can think of so many Ultimates I'd love to see:
    - The Four Lords (Especially to give the golden dragon Koryu a proper epic fight)
    - The Weapons (I'd love a cool sub-phase as part of Emerald where you fight a juiced up Gaius, using elements from the reworked Praetorium fight & Memoria Miseria. It's kind of a shame we didn't get a Gaius phase as a part of UWU)
    - Ivalice (Argath, Yiazmat, Thunder God and Ultima the High Seraph)
    - Crystal Tower (Would love to see hard versions of Amon and Xande. Cloud of Darkness can be a part of it too. Even Azdaja can make a cameo.)
    - Shadow of Mhach (We just really need a proper Diabolos fight.)
    - Storm of Blood (Dunno the exact bosses. It shouldn't be the primals, but at least have an Ultimate with old Zenos & later Reaper Zenos and Shinryu in there. Perhaps add resonant Fordola & Tsukuyomi. We just need a proper Zenos fight in the game).
    - Alternate UWU (A 'what if' if the primals Ultima absorbed were the patch primals instead. So Shiva, Ramuh, Leviathan, cameo by Odin maybe.)

    lol Gonna disagree right out the bat. Tesleen was cool, but like Haurchefant came to our aid multiple time. I liked him more than most of the scions at the time of his death. His death was 100% big.
    They did a good job with making Tesleen relatable in the short time we knew her, but Haurchefant came to our aid many more times. With the inquisitor, during the part where we save Emannelain, gave us the black chocobo AND sheltered us.

    • @Teru91333319
      @Teru91333319 10 месяцев назад +17

      Yeah I agree with you. People saying Haurchefant wasn't a big deal feels like something that's said in hindsight as a reflection of just how much impact Haurchefant had on the community. The boyo was around in ARR, we helped him a few times, and he saved us a couple times as well.
      And then you get to the end of ARR and the story going into Heavensward, with him single-handedly saving the WoL. You can argue that "well actually, the Scions were fine" once we get the full picture of the story by the time HW ends and going into Stormblood. That still doesn't change the immense impact of what it meant to us that Haurchefant saved us from the chaos of Ul'Dah and the usurpation happening.
      In the years since Heavensward, have they milked Haurchefant's death for all that they can? Of course. It still doesn't change just how powerful his death was in the first place!

    • @KalatNero
      @KalatNero 10 месяцев назад +8

      To me his death felt whatever. I had no emotional reaction to his death scene *whatsoever*. I did not care for him, and after getting multiple alts through MSQ, I still don't care for him. Every single time they allude back to his death with the "smile" line, or "for those we can yet save", I roll my eyes. It's like they keep harping on about the ONE somewhat impactful death they had happen 10 years ago because they're afraid of fan reactions if they were to kill off fan-favourite characters that are long past their expiration date.

    • @normalmighty
      @normalmighty 7 месяцев назад +2

      I'll be completely honest, I didn't even realize he was a recurring character until right before his death. I don't understand how everyone say him at the very end of ARR and thought "WoW! Generic 2.0 quest giver #247! I loved that guy! He gave so much more impact than quest giver #246, and he truly is part of the team!"
      I liked him showing back up, but I thought it was basically the same deal as that guy in the 3.4 msq that was an Ala mhigan refugee you helped in 2.0. Just like that one, I thought this was meant to be a fun head nod and not a reappearance of everyone's favourite character.
      When he showed up during 3.0, I didn't even realize he was the same guy who got us into the city until right before the vault.
      He was a nice guy, but we mean hundreds of nice npcs who are fans of us in the msq. I don't understand why he specifically was such a big deal.
      I might also be a bit biased because I was a massive fan of Ysale, her sacrifice was the only time HW had me tearing up a bit, and nobody even talks about it because se was ovshadowed by the generic soldier from a few scenes earlier.

    Haurchefant absolutely is a fan favorite. He was our friend all through Coerthas/HsW and at the end he literally took a bullet for us. The only characters as close to the WoL as Haurchefant was are the primary Scion characters.

    DSR was really special for me, since I think my biggest reason for raiding is for the plot. I was curious to see the what ifs more than getting the glamour. My character is a Cloud Strife cosplay so fighting FF14 Knights of the Round sounds fun to me. Before DSR, I only cleared UWU with raid lead calling out where to go. I couldn't clear TEA in time for EW, so I was really nervous doing DSR on patch. My first group was not very good, we never got to meteor drop in Thordan and I stuck there for a week until my bf pulled me into his P4 group because one of their healers refused to communicate at all (guy doesn't talk/chat/vc...) and it pissed the raid lead off, who is the other healer. I was even more nervous since now I have to study the rest of P2, P3 and P4 beforehand and it was nerve wracking. But I managed it. We got to P4 after 2-3 days of prog. First time I got the meteor I did it on my first try. It was very validating as a new raider. We cleared after 4 months of prog, in time before the next big patch. DSR is an ultimate that I feel at home being there. I know what mech does what because I was there. It's a good feeling.

I was able to use Icarus on my dps partner and time the server tick perfectly to dash in, then get kb'd to my tower. It was a beautiful day. I have greeded or moved slowly on so many mechanics and used Icarus to save pulls far too many times.

    In the next big world ender shit is serious expansion ( like Shadow Bringers or Endwalker )
    Im going to say something controversial. FF14 team needs to have the chad energy and nuts to kill Ys'tolla. ( Plus I think the reaper should have his sniper sites on her after cheating death twice ).
    Thats going to be a death that will get as much emotional energy and match Haurchefaunt's.

    Many of the raiders are normal gamers and I would be more grateful for those who put out guides and everything to help us out so that we too can enjoy the game in our own ways like Xeno, Nukemaru, Tessan and everyone who put out effort. It’s great that you don’t need it. But I am forever grateful for those who looked out for the smaller guys. Experience in ultimate does not have to be defined by just one way. The more people who can enjoy in whichever level the merrier. The fight is too good and design too masterful to not be experienced by the fans in one way or other.

    i guess haucherfant is a fan favorite because there are more fans of him now than there was before
    i may be kinda biased too because i didnt like many of the characters in heavensward when i played - i do see the importance of him and his family but i believe there are other factors for him to be so liked nowadays
    for example i kinda missed more papalymo, i really liked him and i screamed when i saw his staff during endwalker
    (also pls come to brazil part 2 - i need to know how it ends)

    • @Prezzix
      @Prezzix 10 месяцев назад

      Papalymo is only a relevant character to WOL's who started in Gridania. And there are not really that many factors to why people like Haurchefant so much... He was just very kind after the events of the bloody banquet led the players to Ishgard. He gave them coco and some encouraging words, and from then on was just someone that clearly cared about the WOL as a person. Which was a switch up of the dynamics between NPC and player before, where the WOL was just treated like a weapon, not really a person. The Dark Knight questline goes into this a bit as well.
