I'm sure you've either figured it out for yourself already or had people explain it but just in case, here are the fail or alternate states that weren't elaborated on in the video: 1. When you save Hauchefant, the WoL is no longer spurred on to rush to Azys Lla, giving Thordan enough time to enact his plan and enslave the dragons in the alternate time line 2. Because Haichefant is alive, no spirit arrives to help you solve the eyes phase. If you also kill Thordan when he asks for mercy, he won't appear to slurp up the eyeballs either causing a fail state where there is no way to deal with the eyeballs. 3. In regards to the wipe which occurs when any one player dies to one of Hraesvelgr's attacks,, its because he goes mad when he fails to uphold his promise to never hurt man 4. In regards to saving hauchefant, the attack that kills him causes a wound that canonically reduces the effects of healing as seen in Thordan EX as a mechanic and as commented on by Alphi in the story. This is why the Healer LB3 doesn't work and why you can't just heal him in the fight either. You need to tank LB3 him BEFORE he takes the hit to bolster his defenses instead.
It's so good how they weaved in a story into the Ultimate. And there's repercussions beyond what happens in the fight too if we think about it. Because we saved Aymeric and Haurchefant didn't die, we didn't go to Azys Lla, which means Ysayle didn't die; and we can actually see her in P6 outside the boss arena, fighting dragons alongside Haurchefant. But we kill Hraesvelgr in that phase, so there's no timeline where both Ysayle and Hraes can live. And since Thordan absorbed both Nidhoog's and Hraes's eyes and we kill him, they dissipate, which means Ilberd never got Nidhogg's eyes. Which means Shinryu wasn't summoned. We kill Zenos in Ala Mhigo, but since there's no Shinryu, he comes back as just himself. And in Endwalker, when we are in Ultima Thule and have pressed the emergency button to send our friends back to the ship since the Endsinger was about to kill them, there's no Zenos to come to our rescue in his Shinryu form.
Even bigger issue, no Shinryu means no awakening Omega which means no Omega raids which means no Rift travel knowledge to send Graha to the First to prevent our death( and nearly everyone else) at the hands of Black Rose.....
I'm not going to lie, it's always been weird to me that the Warrior would apparently have just...hung out and done nothing if Haurche hadn't died? I know mine sure as hell wouldn't by any stretch of the imagination.
It wasn't that the Warrior of Light didn't do anything, it's that there is a difference between following someone to stop them from doing an unknown vs hunting them down in vengeance haha
@@nathanaelthomas7816 Sure, morally maybe, but our emotional state isn't the thing at issue here. The idea is, if Haurche didn't die, we wouldn't chase Thordan, and all these terrible things would happen. But why wouldn't we chase Thordan? I don't need to be wanting revenge for Haurche to want to kill the guy helping cover up and extend a thousand year genocidal war while working with the Ascians who, by the way, has attempted on several occasions to kill my Scions and has turned himself and his twelve bodyguards into primals at least a couple of times right in front of me. Haurche might have been a more personal reason, but it wasn't like he was the only reason, so him living wouldn't have stopped the chase by any stretch. Like, I love the whole concept of the ultimate and everything, and it plays well into the over-arching themes of the Hydaelyn/Zodiark story arc, but...
I am usually not a person interested in the ultimate fights, but due to it being so focused on the story this time I was so into it. Not doing the content myself but seing others do it. Checking into social media what the status is. And when the short clip with the clock was shared I was like "What does it mean? GUYS, what have you seen??? I need answers!!". It was an awesome time because it felt like the whole FF14 community was so invested in it even without them being raiders themselves
About the healing stress at the end you mentiones. Yes. When my group was at the last phase for the 2nd raid session we had 2 wipes where 2 of our dps players positioned wrong for the in/out, after those we had a break to cool off and stop shaking from the nerves of the last phase. Then we had an hour of wiping to the 2nd last phase which left us with last pull for the 2nd raid session after we had reached last phase. On that last pull for that night we got to last akh morns edge where my hands shaking so much I accidenttaly hit W and moved forward. Canceling my aoe heal before last 2 hits came, meaning basically everone died. That could've been a kill easily without that. I was so devastated I had to stop playing ffxiv for the next few days to get my mind off it. 4months of prog and the wipe happened at pretty much the last possible spot you could fail. Atleast we got the kill next session but after that I've not played xiv, which was nealy year ago atm. Thinking of coming back a bit before dawntrail so I can catch up on MSQ before the launch
I cant wait for shb msq ultimate where we have to kill G'raha to prevent him from trapping Elidibus's soul. Gonna be so POG. Eden will be my favorite ultimate, I can tell that now. My favorite raid and story overall.
It’s instead that G’raha dies to Emet meaning he isn’t alive to trap Elidibus in the tower. He also isn’t there to summon heroes beyond the rift against Emet.
@@jojak0512 I'm not racist, but I want SE to do Yotsuyu>Shinryu>Tsuyu>Tsukuyomi ultimate. It would be such a shame to not see such an amazing story arc in an ultimate due to irreliavant side fluff.
The Hraesvelgr enrage due to killing a player tracks storywise, as Hraesvelgr while being under the control of Thordain still retains his mind. It's just his body that is acting against his will, so he's aware of WHAT he's doing... including breaking his vow to Shiva. In killing you, regardless of whether he's in control of his actions of not, he's broken his promise. Yeah, it's kill or be killed in that fight, and I'm quite sure he's accepted his fate at that point. But him killing you or any of your friends is an unforgivable act in his eyes, and in his sadness... well, the end comes.
I love watching these videos and seeing my friends group in them. I’m by no means super good but I’m friends with kindred members. Always makes me happy to see them included

If you want more depth to this, Arthar's has a 3-part video on his commentary of this fight and further goes into why this fight is so good. You both say a few of the same things.
The reason the door boss was after the first phase was both for programming reasons and for player consistency. If was intended to be a "checkpoint" it would have been later in the fight.

I'm just proud I figured that out immediately when I saw the guy dying, the first thing I thought was like wait, can you just save the guy with LB?

26:10 To quote a smart redditor, to play a black mage in this, the first thing you would want to do is to summon Bahamut
Rinons narration is 11 out of 10, what an amazing contribution to our community
bad british accent, someone from my town ( Cambridge ) or oxford would sound better
The hype of everyone watching as soon as time rewound…. All the screams of “save him!! We have to save him!!”
It was amazing.

"how do you play black mage in this??!"
black mage has some of the best mobility in the game lol
Most amateur BLMs use procs and triplecast on cd, not when they need it for mobility. Give it time.
