Interesting what you said about using this in Superior Drummer 3 to get access to the bleed function. I didn't know that would work with an EZ Drummer library (EZX). Can you clarify that that does work. I haven't personally tried to blend between libraries from the SD3 and EZ2/3. When I have an EZX kick and snare loaded into SD3 does it bleed the same as all SEX kit pieces bleed in there?
When I saw a new EZX was coming out a few days ago I said to myself: _"SIlly Toontrack, I already have my dream ultimate perfect drumkit by Frankensteining half a dozen SDX and EZX packs, you couldn't possibly get any more money out of me, hue hue hue."_ Then I listened to the teaser sample and it was Lamb of God :| Well played, TT, well played... THEN AGAIN they may be too late, one of my fav things about Chris Adler are his kicks. Unlike most metal bands they weren't a tick or a click, they were this interesting soft thud, and I found a Kontakt plugin that nails that sound quite closely by sampling them from the Wrath album stems: /watch?v=aitl8Gzj31g Thanks for the review Mike!
Great video thanks, can I use this expansion with superior drummer 3 and combined them ? Use some of the snares and cymbals with my favorite kits from sd3? Thanks again
Yes, of course. In Superior Drummer, you can use ANY other expansion from Toontrack, no matter if they are EZX‘s or the SDX‘s - Check my channel, some weeks ago I made a video about exactly that topic.
Wow, barely released and already your review ;-). At first I thought, I would not necessarily have to look at it (because of the genre), but then I'm glad to have done it. Luckily, you put the focus on the quality of the samples and drum kits, which seems really impressive. Especially the short sequence with the Funk Groove I found very convincing. Unfortunately Toontrack is making it worse and worse with their audio demos - they are putting more and more genre-like productions in the foreground, while the individual components of the kits are barely presented. But there you are :-) Thank you, Mike! Another wish more for Christmas ...
Like you said, you can't ignore other genres, Metal may not be your taste but if you blend samples you can achieve the sounds you want... I remember trying to get the tone of the Deftones Bass drum from the white pony album, Steven Slate Drums has a "Tone Deaf" kit which is based on the sounds from the kit used on that album, very good starting point, in fact the toms and snare are pretty much dead on, but the bass drum left something to be desired, it just wasn't there...So, I took a bass drum which was based on what Tommy Lee used in the Doctor Feelgood album, and I blended that bass drum (Perfect attack) with a Hip Hop Sample (Perfect punch) the two combined achieved the perfect sound of the Deftones Bass drum and the kit was complete. I would have never even considered hip hop sounds for anything else until I saw some tutorial on how to make a punchier bass drum, and he happened to be using SSD, so I just took that and used it to complete the Deftones set....
@@lucyferina i agree. Nearly every sound can be useful, when composing drum sounds, even noises. I remember i used the click of a coin and blended it with the sound of a bass drum to get a better kick :-). And yes, this new ezx definitely seems to be a fund of great sounds. Mike showed it really great.
Hi, that’s an easy one. EZX are expansions for EZDrummer, SDX are those for Superior Drummer. However, when you have Superior Drummer, you can use SDX as well as EZX, while in EZDrummer only EZX expansions work.
Great review Mike. But I think you don't route the presets out in separate tracks in Reaper, so how's the best way to use the presets for recording in a drum cover. Record them as they are on only one track without plugins effects?😎👍
You are still struggling with the routing, don’t you? 🤔 Well, to answer your question: Just use the stereo output 1/2, so one bus or track. If you feel you need to change something on the drums, do it inside the software, not in your DAW. You CAN use additional plugins in your DAW, but you need to be careful not to destroy or overdo it.
Mike Luke no I thought that there are no clean kits in these new EZX and I thought you only use clean kits for your mixes. I do that now also. But I understand your answer Mike and I learned certainly from you private video my friend😎👍🤜🍺
Well, the EZX are never „clean“ like the SDX are. However, you can route all the mics (kick, snare ..) to individual tracks in Reaper just like you do with SD3. When using one of the presets, it doesn’t make sense though.
Thanks for the review! Nice to see before buying.
Cheers, Alex.
Thanks Mike for the great Review!
Cheers, Riccardo!
Great review brother. Great sounds in this new pack.
Cheers Paul.
Thanks for this video Mike, very helpful and informative.

Apparently they got the name wrong, but they sampled the Black Panther Sledgehammer 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Hello mike happy holidays, can you tell me the difference between sdx expansions and Ezx? Thanks
Hi, that’s an easy one. EZX are expansions for EZDrummer, SDX are those for Superior Drummer. However, when you have Superior Drummer, you can use SDX as well as EZX, while in EZDrummer only EZX expansions work.
Mike Luke I assume the quality of the recordings is the same, I was also wondering about the difference in price between the two thanks
Nice Mike as always!! Very usfull review and tutorial channel!! THE BEST!!

Is there going to be an SDX from that recording session?
From what I‘ve heard from Toontrack, there are no plans to release an SDX based on this. But no one knows actually;)
