Dale Weber CFH and Vulgar Display especially. Those two albums have the most brutal, powerful, hard hitting drum sound of any metal album still to this day, IMO

I have to say, with the recent releases from Neural DSP or Mercuriall, the EZmix guitar tones don't sound that good in comparison... But then they're also very simple to use and don't require a lot of CPU, so they're still my favourite for writing demos.

I've checked the modern metal Sounds too, really good Sounds... Modern Metal, Mark lewis, and Metal Amps are the best Presets of toontrack (in my opinion)
Toontrack support helped me out a bit. They recommended I drop the input gain to around -10dB, and that helped a lot. Still sounds pretty bad though, even after EQ and Comp. I wish Ola would tell us how he is getting such good tone out of it...
Those raw drums sound better than anything I've ever got from a drum software. *cries* Edit: But hot damn, those SD3 presets sound killer as well. Makes me really want to upgrade to it.
The problem with Superior Drummer is that it doesn't seem to trace velocities very well. For example that snare roll at the end of the clean section was basically the same hit all the way through.
Hey Ola, cheers from New York. I'm wondering how you would approach editing drums that you've converted to midi (But kept the Overhead tracks) . I try and high pass the overheads as much as possible but I still have to manually edit them to keep the snare / toms transients in sync with the edited midi. Is there an easier way?
I want to learn how to use this stuff soooo bad. I have hundreds of hours of snippets of songs and lick ideas but no complete songs to speak of. Programming any kinds of drums is my biggest weakness. I’m no drummer and not even sure how I would program them behind my riffs or what type of drum pattern would even sound good. I need a real drummer to help me compose.

I’m no drummer either but try listening to your favorite bands drummers and watch how they play and what they do. Basically become a drummer in your head. I tend to create drum tracks around my guitar playing. That’s what I like about using a pad controller for drums. Record your riff then just play drums over it on the pads. You’ll come up with something. Get an affordable (some may say cheap) usb interface and download Reaper (for free) and some other free amp sims. Plug in and start jamming dude.

"Ola The Swede"...That brings back a memory when I worked in the Logging Industry in Seattle. There was this Giant Hydraulic Lift that would roll over the huge Logs (30 foot tree) so they could be cut,It was called "the Swede".. after a PC talk when chicks began to work there, we were schooled that it was a Term used from the old days when they would hire this Huge Manley Swedish dude and make him roll the log. it was super dangerous. right by a 10 foot band saw. We were then told we couldn't use that term any more because it was actually a Racial Slur.. LMAO.. Times are a Changin....
Is there a way of recording a DI track while having some kind of playback running into an amp or something so I can hear distortion even though I won’t be recording or using that sound? It’ll just be a reference then use EZMix2 to actually change the amp sounds

I got EZDrummer 2 on release day in 2014.....yes it takes time, but you'll get there.
