Happy Birthday John Bob, and cool video I’m always learning but I’m not sure if could take one apart and put it back together again a it run lol but you sure can!!
I’m tearing down the same setup soon. 046 case with a 460 tank/handle. Same thing you have there it seems. Same situation too. Won’t run right. Goes lean after hot. I’m assuming an air leak somewhere. Hoping I find a bad intake boot but but may have to pressure vac test. Funny, last season I looked in my muffler, my cylinder don’t look good either. Ran totally fine then tho so I left it. Not gonna change my top end till I port another for it tho unless it’s totally trashed. Have 1 OEM and a few farmetec laying around, at least one BB.
Bro. Still watching this but…. Just FYI: 046/MS460 setup is one of the perfect setups to just base gasket delete with no machining required. Factory squish on these is typically in the 40s, I think deleting the gaskets on them puts you right at that sweet spot, low 20s high teens. Fact check it please, but I’ve believed it for a few years now.
Just purchased an ms460 on ebay for $450, and was supposed to "run great".........take off the Muffler and Piston was scorn!....fuel line broken, so couldn't even hear it "run".......LOL.....bunch of other ghetto crap was wrong with the saw too....but all the parts are there.....Cylinder appears to be good, so it's a good thing I didn't attempt to run the saw, because it would have Cooked the cylinder next(pistons always Burn Up first, then Cylinder).......I don't feel like sending the saw back half-way across the country, it's Hard to find these saws under $700 unless it's a Parts-Saw anyways..... I'm going to contact the seller and demand a discount, because I already started rebuilding it!
Are the cylinder bolts all the same size? I took mine apart a long time ago and alot has happened since then and now i have forgotten which ones to use and if they are all the same size?
@@bellhoppersaws oh I thought that was something else I was up doing something and come back watching when you was rubbing that on both sides of the gasket I used red rtv

I put rtv under and on top of my base gasket on my 038 is that ok? Or should I remove my new base gasket and install a new one without rtv
