Axe From the Grave is definitely my favorite series here.
Same
Agree completely
Same.
Dude axe from the grave is probably my favorite series on all of RUclips!
As a mediocre tech who has tricked my local shop into hiring me, these videos help me more than you will ever know! Keep these niche fix videos coming Colin!
My eternal thankyous for sorting this out for me. Indeed they can kiss my shiter! 😂
And an extra thank you for the leaf lady shout-out 💜
We greatly appreciate it.
For anyone wondering, the song is 'Jehovah, you're taking up the whole seat' 🎵
Look forward to getting this back into the studio 🤞🤙
Hi scoosh ❤
Egregious might be my fave new song!
@@JWBailsmy dude! Many thanks. Cheers for checking us out! 🤙💜
@@JuveriSetila hi juveri 💜
YESSS I love the axe from the graves. would love to see you do more bass content too!
I've got some bass stuff coming soon!
Agreed, I'd volunteer my 1970 Univox Lectra to the cause
You make soldering look so easy , I've just made a right arse of my Jackson Adrian smith trying to put 2 new single coils in 😂
What a beautiful purple instrument Scoosh has. You certainly handled it well Colin. You can tell this isn’t the first time you’ve had Scoosh’s instrument in your hands. Great video
Partly done buggar all. As an American I like that phase as a Michagander I'm now using that to describe our roads.
I am constantly impressed with how great Schecter guitars look. That top in that color is simply gorgeous.
It is nice. I almost bought the blue one last year. I think blue looks a little nicer, but that is just a personal preference.
Purple guitars are so underrated. I have a Schecter V-1 Custom in purple flame and it's a great guitar.
A heavy metal telecaster… something I never knew I needed to see!
Jim Root never existed
Joe Duplantier never existed
I own the same model of schecter and its so weird seeing it on other people's videos, I have to do a double take when it happens.
I hope you had less issues than me! I'm not happy with shecter 👀😂
Being alive is nice but being undead frees you from so many things. Eating, breathing , sleeping all the lil annoyances of the living. Being able to walk in the sunlight was nice but I’ll take my chances waiting till the great collapse to erase everything… FYI nice referb job on that beautiful purple guitar.
Colin, fine video as always, good to hear some technical content as well as some fine playing. Take care buddy from an auld yin from Glasgow.
Always informative brother! You and your videos have upped my abilities in fixing my guitars, saving money in the long run. Keep up the great work 🤘🤘
You can never go wrong with a Schecter!
Love your work, Colin!
Really interesting, I'd like to see more of these videos
Well I didn't think I needed a new reverb pedal, but that sounded amazing in the demo! Killer tone setup
I have a Schecter PT Fastback that I ended up ripping the humby's out of and slapping in a pair of passive EMGs compared to the lower output factory ones that were in there already. The thing is just a flat slab of heavy wood so I wanted to turn it into a rock and metal machine, almost Les Paul-like. They are very underrated instruments, and it's probably one of the best guitars I've had the pleasure of owning.
Great content, presented in a cadence that you don’t normally hear outside of Top Gear.
Best guitar RUclipsr by a mile. I always learn something interesting/useful here.
I got a Schecter Blackjack C-1 FR S a few months ago, and it is a beautiful guitar, but had the worst QC issues of any guitar I've ever bought, and I've been buying guitars since the early 1970s! (Only as a hobbyist, I should say, not as a musician).
It is by far the most expensive guitar I've ever bought, and it was made in S Korea, which is generally a plus. I have a Sun Valley Super Shredder that is absolutely perfect, but this Blackjack has had many issues;
The 'blacking' on the metalwork started wearing off pretty well from day one. So the FR trem looks like it has vitiligo!
By far the worst issue was after about three weeks, the neck pickup and Sustainiac cut out altogether. I took it apart, and found the input socket had been badly wired, and wires were making contact with the frame and with each other. Had to completely re-wire and re-solder the input socket.
The 13th fret had popped a bit - had to tap that down to stop the buzzing.
And lastly (so far), the FR trem does not hold tuning as well as one would hope. It's OK, not awful, but I've got other guitars with FR trems, and they are much older, and hold tune much better.
Luckily I've spent a few years taking apart Harley Benton guitars and modding them just for fun, so I had the tools and experience to fix everything. The input jack problem was fixed before I even got a reply to my email complaining about it!
Pardon my venting! £1,339.00 may not be much in the grand scheme of things, but it is a huge amount for me, and I expected better, TBH. The shop I where got it was helpful, but Schecter gave me the brush-off. Eventually they sent me a free t-shirt, a cotton bag, and three sets of strings (not the gauge I use - they never bothered to ask).
I just got my first Schecter. A Nick Johnston PT. It is so good. But this might be my next one. Purple is my favorite color.
I'm about to do a similar repair to one of my guitars and this couldn't have been better timing, great video!
Awesome work
Always good, Colin!
Excellent job. And the music excellent too
Excellent stuff. Cool tune (will be checking out that band later) and great tips for sorting stuff like mismatched metric/imperial pots and stripped screw holes. I absolutely HATE soldering stuff to pots, so I'll give the scratching thing a try!
Glad to see another rotosound user on you tube.
Och aye, she lives laddie! \m/
Recognised it from the pictures!
I have 5 axes in the grave I haven't had time or money to resurrect and only one functional 😂 this is my favorite series and definitely a good inspiration for me to save some money to get mine working again
you should post a SLOW, stage by stage video on this type of thing, so we can catch up with what you're doing :).
Great post as always fella :)
Very Tool there at the end, which is a good thing.
Love me some psychedelic prog
Many thankyous man! We appreciate the support 🙏💜
Dude, finally it’s been a while since you worked on a Schecter 😃
Great video
Very beautiful guitar indeed, sirrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Now Scoosh can play to his hearts content on a walking thingy, sometimes backwards
This man knows his Scoosh lore 👀
wow I really like that schecter
Love this series! I could listen to your accent all day!
Drummer here, why is it that you restrung the guitar in that order, alternating between low and high strings?
“To fuel my addiction to being alive” -Colin
Best way of saying I need this money to survive
It's a very nice guitar.
In previous videos, I saw you using a Keysight 1052G oscilloscope. Been looking at getting an o-scope, myself, and that Keysight has some nice features others don't: Signal generator, and spectrum analysis. Has this been a good scope for you?
I love purple guitars!
Very nice Video man! By any chance, can you tell me where I can find that Guitar strap at 9:44 ? :)
That's a nice reamer you have there.
Absoutely chad posting an AFTG today
that schecter is awsome. but i think it would look even better if the headstock matched the body in finish.
#tata I'm pretty new to home recording. My current setup is guitar -> uafx dream -> audio interface -> daw... what are the most essential plugins I would need to make the guitar sound better? Compression? Reverb/delay? Other?
Hey, love these videos. What made you put the strings on in the order that you did? Most people would go E to E but you seemed to do the D last?
Rotosound strings come out the packet in pairs: E and G, A and B, D and e.
You can see in the video that I'm putting on a pair at a time.
Probably a good decision not to use brass shaft covers for those pots, the ones I found only fit Imperial sized knobs. Sadly I found that out after I tried to squeeze import knobs on there😂
Skoosh the legend
💜 my dude
I love the tone during the playthrough.
Why's the signal path listed from right to left though? Usually when I see signal path listed, it's from left to right.
Pedals have their inputs on the right and their outputs on the left.
If you were to arrange this sequence of pedals on a pedalboard in signal order, that's how they would look: guitar connects to the right of the pedal board, signal travels leftwards through the pedals and leaves to the amp on the left.
Arranging them Left to Right just to satisfy Western reading conventions is incorrect and confusing when it comes to visually representing the signal chain of physical effects.
I can only assume that you are more familiar with plug ins and software than with physical pedals if you see a left to right arrangement more commonly.
@@ScienceofLoud Yeah, I usually use plugins, so your arrangement makes a lot of sense now.
Thanks!
Just love this serious! Keep it up😃😃
Why do you string the guitar in that order?
Rotosound strings come out the packet in pairs: E and G, A and B, D and e.
You can see in the video that I'm putting on a pair at a time.
@@ScienceofLoud
Thanks for answering!
That's what I noticed! Think it's just me buying the same stings all the time. Maybe that's pretty common now.
I got an "axe from the grave" style question for you
what do you do if you have a stripped dual action truss rod nut?
What are the advantages or differences to using the wax based fretboard finish vs lemon oil or boar oil?
Oils are penetrative while waxes are not.
Oils seep deeper into the wood - which is great for finishing raw wood and giving a deeper colour. The deep penetration means that moisture and dirt can't get into the wood - which is the main reason why we want to protect fingerboards. Oil penetration isn't always desirable - too much can swell wood (which could result in frets popping out), it reacts undesitably for certain types of wood (raw maple being the oft cited example of when NOT to use Lemon Oil), and it'll do very little on a finished surface since it can't penetrate paint or lacquer.
Wax builds a water resistant layer on the surface, which works better for protecting already finished wood. Being non-penetrative there is no risk of oversaturating or swelling the wood, wax is much less likely to negatively impact maple, and you can wax on top of finished surfaces to add an additional layer of lustre and protection.
Think about all the people who wax their cars for example - it offers a protective layer without changing the underlying surface.
Waxing metal parts will also prolong their shine, preventing moisture from tarnishing the surface - so it's good for frets too.
It will however wear quicker and need reapplied more regularly than oil.
When would I use oil:
On a brand new fretboard that was raw wood and hasn't received any protection, or on a board that has significantly dried out. New guitars and ones in significant decline.
When would I use wax:
When the board is well hydrated and simply needs cleaning and protection. General maintenance/string changes on a regularly maintained guitar.
@@ScienceofLoud Thanks for the info! I'll have to look into getting fretboard wax!
There are only a few nicer things than a sharp forstner drill ❤
Dear one doubt how can I matte chrome part
Ace from the grave = ZOMBIE AXE!!!☠️☠️
why didnt tou use a split shaft cover? i would think with all the mods you do youd have plenty lying around
The fingerboard stuff seems kinda thick. Makes it look good but does it collect dirt?
It's not and it doesn't
Just curious, pointless question, but is there any reason why the signal path is going from right to left rather than left to right?
Pedals have inputs on the right, outputs on the left.
If you're a righty playing a normal guitar/bass, cable is also plugged to you right, so when facing a pedal/pedalboard, cable never crosses in front of you.
Because that's the way the pedals would arrange themselves on a pedalboard.
Inputs are on the right, outputs are on the left.
If I were to set up the diagram to display the left to right western reading convention then it would be wrong and confusing for people trying to copy the arrangement of effects.
I use toothpicks instead of matches because they’re already tapered
does anybody know the songs he was playing in the demo?
I was just jamming random stuff to approximate what I've heard Scoosh noodle around with
Im scush, have been scush since 1961 (im 62) your man is an imposter
You can have scush. I'll keep Scoosh. Identity crisis averted 😂
Huh. Any reason behind putting the strings on in that staggered order?
Rotosound bundles the strings like that: 3 pairs; E and G, A and B, D and e.
I'm putting them on in the pairs that come out of the packet.
@@ScienceofLoud Oh, interesting.
But can Colin say "purple burglar alarm"?
If you need another guitar to fix i have a gtx23 that needs a freshen up🤣
Schecter? I barely knew 'er
Reamer? damn near killed 'er!
I wish i had a nickname like Skoosh.
Go live in Glesga.
Well, I have Scoosh. So you're welcome to Skoosh, should you desire it. 👀
@@scoosh.productions Thanks for clarifying. Wasnt sure about the spelling so just guessed. Haha!

If you purchase a schiter guitar you simply have a schiter guitar.
Guitar industry is always evolving and it's kinda awkward the we still use the inconvenient solder for electronics.
I hope other brands follow EMG and implement solderless technology.
I hope they don't.
Soldering is the far superior way to make permanent electronic connections.
Soldering is only inconvenient if you don't know how to solder. It's a very useful skill to learn and if you want to perform regular maintenance and modification then it's a necessary skill to have.
Well guitar fetish and I would assume the manufacturer they buy from I think Artec, have the Kwik Plug pickups, wiring harness’s, and DIY bits so you can just wire the leads onto your pots, other bit on the pickup wire. The VEH set sounds nice, but aren’t anything special imagine a set of designed by Duncan 59s instead of actual Duncan 59s. I think it was 85 usd shipped for pickups, and a wiring harness w/ push pull pots on sale. I do agree with Colin that we all should learn to Solder. It’s a suprisingly useful skill.
Could definitely do without that terrible background music.
You're right. Could have been egregious instead. 🙄
