- President Joe Biden's full security entourage of US Secret Service arrive with the motorcade of limousines, Counter Assault vehicles, HazMat truck, and more. The airlift into Belfast was done with three military transport planes.
3x C-17 Globemasters of the United States Air Force brought the motorcade to Northern Ireland. Consisting of 'The Beast', the Presidential security detail SUV 'Halfback', the Counter Assault Team aka 'Hawkeye'', the Hazardous Agent Mitigation Medical Emergency Response Team (HAMMER) and two unknown support trucks.

What time in this video do the dogs 'deplane'? All doggos (including Presidential doggos) are supercool: but despite George W Bush being a total dolt he definitely had the best First Dogs ever (Mrs Beazley and Barney)! It's a pity I'm not eligible to be President: my two dogs would be superstar First Dogs. I also think they'd be better policy makers than Biden or either of the Bushes.
I saw the dogs - they come off about 13.10 I hope they have a fun time in Northern Ireland and can understand the local dogs' accents :)

Have you even been here, mate? It's considerably less dangerous than the country Biden actually lives in.
Presidential security is always at the top of the scale no matter where he visits. Realistically though, nobody in Northern Ireland would even contemplate harming him. The Republicans will love him (he's Catholic) and the Loyalist paramilitaries wouldn't be daft enough or even inclined to try anything. Either side might consider using the occasion to carry out attacks, but not anything that targets the President.
@@fluchterschoen So hopefully the President will talk to both Michelle O Neill and the Arlene Foster group and secure that the Assembly will sit and a new executive elected either before or immediately after the elections. The motorcade vehicles can usually be done within a few minutes, just drive them off. The helicopters can take an hour or two.

Imagine the financial cost, let alone the so-called Carbon Footprint, involved in all this - to bring here for a few days a frail, elderly bloke, who can barely string a sentence together, hardly seems to know where he is or what day it is - and who happens to be, nominally, the leader of the free world.
It's not about whether it's Biden, Trump or Obama. It's the infrastructure of the United States and the leader of our democracy (not even addressing the leader of the free world stuff, that's just hyperbole) that requires this level of security. It costs what it costs- I hate Trump but when he was our President I fully supported the same level of protection and back-up. It's vital contingency and safety for our democracy's leadership and stabilty of the US.

And as you say, it's an unavoidable necessity. All this preparation also serves to underline the political significance of the visit. It wouldn't do for him to arrive on a Ryanair flight and hire a wee compact from Hertz.
