I guess I will contact you to try to get a R34 Vspec II lol maybe I should not wait for few more years and just get the 32. Anyways, nice video to know how to import jdm to the states as true story
Yea i kept all my docs. I have the original blue Export form and a translated copy. And the 19% tax exempt from germany. I have a R33 GTR i got from japan last year and im stationed in Germany. Hope the process is General the same. Thanks for the good info
as always, great job! Its amazing to hear just how wildly different your experience was from my own; to include the paperwork you have from the air force. Each service does their paperwork differently, and your's is much better than what i received.
Yup an agreed it’s sickening when importing your own car back to the states. It happens to me when I import my own JDM Evo 7-9.. to Sydney OZ from Singapore. I getting my own vlog camera soon. Will want to share about JDMs via RUclips.. and Yes Spencer, my JDM evo10 has cleared the custom in OZ..
I live In the DC DMV area. can Someone tell me how hard it would be to register a car like the r34 here? I would go completely through a import company since things get very complex?
Lol, the Punisher skull with the blue line sticker is funny. Basically the punisher became the punisher because law enforcement wasn't doing its job. Sorry my comic nerdness just showed up.
What about getting insurance? I had my pristine 7th gen Corolla registered and safety checked by the importer here in Hawaii, But didn't realize anything about underwriter's "grey zone" category for JDM... Keeping my fingers crossed that Allstate ( i already have 3 cars, and a home with them) will approve a policy; at least for collision... I just want to be able to drive it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
So I go on garage defend and pick a car to buy and y’all will send the import/export certification before it arrives at my house? And who is gonna ship it if I’m in the states? I’m a civilian.
The nada retail on our cars are crazy and have been going up every 3 months(that's how often they update). Average retail w/AC is 51k now and was only 28k about 9 months ago. You've also drove on more gravel in this video then I have in 3yrs haha. As always, keep up the great work bro! PS love the poses on the cars
Cool video! So you say you are part of garage defend. I was wondering if I have a car already over there that I want to ship back in the states. Do you guys import cars in general or just the ones purchased at Defend?
Not saying ive done it but I know where you can go to get a pretty good pull. That's not on a road that any cops watch. 😁 also I understand your frustration with the DMV people in Minot they are a frustrating bunch. Anyways really happy that you got it figured out cant wait to maybe run into you in minot. Fyi from what I know north dakota does require you to have both plates on the vechile although you can keep the Okinawa plates. I'm not sure because it's a kind of strange thing for up here.
its September 22nd, its a part of the tour the do across Canada , the hit pretty much all the major cities , different cars at every event , there is also summer heat in Saskatoon on august 18th and dodo logics fallout in Regina in the fall. some interesting events not that far from you in North Dakota . can shoot me a dm on instagram @hatchetman81fms . Great channel and keep up the great work . P.S. the gas prices up here aren't awesome
It's interesting to hear the process that you guys across the pond have to go through to register a car from Japan. I've recently imported a JZX100 to the UK. It's been 135 days since I paid my deposit to the import garage and the car got put on a ship and the car has now been sat on my driveway for 2 months... still no plates. Human error at the port here in Southampton, UK caused my original NOVA application form to show an incorrect VIN number and so the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have rejected my application twice. The problem is that they never give you a reason why it has been rejected and just send all of your forms back (which takes around 5 working days each time. Never mind the 10 days it takes them to get around to check the application in the first place.) Finally spotted the issue and had HMRC update the VIN number on their records and so hopefully third time is a charm once I send the forms back to the DVLA. Frustrating times but hopefully the first drive makes it all worthwhile! The R32 is looking great as always!
I’m lookin to buy a JDM imported car. It’s already imported and registered in a US state. Has all the epa and customs forms stamped that the vehicle was manufactured 1/94. During my research on the vehicle I observed it was really built March 1994 and was imported a little too early. The guy who bought it believed it was a legal car and he has all the legal documents. Is this a problem if I buy it? Could I get in trouble and the car seized by the feds?
I laughed out loud when I saw you lying on the GTR. Thanks for that, I have watched and liked every single one of your videos since cars for sale in Japan one (Feb 2016) over two years subscribed. Beautiful dogs.
That seal on rear plate will be hard to beak as I had to drill mine off. You will have to put the plates where they suppose to go. If you put in windows you can get ticket for not displaying plates properly can be $100 fine in some states. When you get your US plates you going to have to drill 2 new holes in them as the holes wont align up with the Japanese plate holes. Best way to take Japanese plate put behind US Plate & make drill mark. You can just use one screw but plate may hang down & you can not use vinyl ties. I learned all this when I got my Skyline into US from Tokyo few years back. Issues I had was the car had to be inspected when it entered the US to verify its legal to drive on roads. I was moving to South Carolina & the DMV there wouldn't register it with the documents I had as i had all original ones. I was advised by many to go to Virginia to get all this done. I went to Virginia to get it all legal & they done all inspections & also they titled the vehicle for me & they put 107,0000 miles but was in kilometers & they told me US titles doesn't allow to display kilometers. Weight on it was not lbs look to be heavy as a tank so was off also. Virginia did not register it with plates as I living in South Carolina at that time. I did not have to pay any taxes to Virginia but had to pay other fees which was about $400 all together. I had to drive my Skyline with Tokyo plates but had to get US insurance & it was cheap but there is no true value on this vehicle so for collision part you pay for what you want to value it but they may not pay it. I was using Allstate then on it & was advised to get classic car insurance for it & I did with Grundy as was much cheaper. When i got my papers from Virginia I just went to DMV in South Carolina i just gave them the Virginia title & paid regular DMV fees but first I had to pay property tax in the county I was in & they could not value vehicle so I told them its imported & they say since classic car 25 years it was exempt. When I got my South Carolina title it says 107,395 with new mileage but weight of vehicle was not listed & also says *May not be actual mileage at bottom & had to get that fixed & they did after i showed them Japanese documents which I didn't have to as Virginia title didn't specify whether is actual or not. I got pulled over many times in North Carolina & Georgia using Japanese plates & you can not use them there & got few warnings in Georgia & a ticket in North Carolina for plates & speeding was $700 & went to court as they can give demerit points to South Carolina residents. Judge dismissed it as I told him my car was imported & speed was in km/h not mph & just paid the plate fine was only $150. I tried to get temporary plates but in South Carolina had be from a dealer & have to have their logo & paper work from them. I had sold my Skyline to owner in Ohio as rust & some rot was bad in the strut area but they wanted it & got it fixed up & I got decent money for it. Only downfall i saw unless you have paper work from previous owners in Japan & yourself as I was the 3rd owner of the car the value can be based on that & especially the condition of the car. If you looking for more money you should have service records on the vehicle. Services here in the US like Carfax & Auto Check does not report imported vehicles except for Canada. When you sell it on to new owner here in US just give them the title they do not have to pay importation fees again. As for tax when they register it they have to pay sales tax to state & you can put what you want as there is no true value NADA, Kelley Blue Book, Galves & Black Book does not list this vehicle at all but there suggestions on many web sites you can look. Some states the plates stays with the car like California for example. I hope this info helps some of you. Its a awesome car & I will get a new one as I miss my old one but not want to deal with rust & rot as can be costly to fix.
I'd like to bring a 34 back with me and am completely content with letting it sit in the garage if necessary. To wait out the next couple years until I can legally register it. What are your thoughts?
You can't do that unless you wanna bring the car in illegally and have the risk of having it crushed, or find some sketchy person in Florida to do it for you. Or just wait like everyone else, the prices are gonna be expensive no matter what.
haha glad you liked it. You can buy one of the cars we have in stock or we can source you one from auction. You can see some of the stock here. www.goo-net.com/php/shop/stock.php?client_id=0200077&area_id=15&sort_car_cd=10151010|10151010&baitai=t_blnk
Registering a imported Japanese car sounds like a headache. I live in California and as far as laws it sucks. I went to Top Rank International Vehicle importers in long beach LA. They do all the paper work and modification that's needed to register the car. Still waiting to get my r32. It's been 4 months and they said it takes around 6 months to be ready for pick up.
I’m just starting the process here in Massachusetts as well. Your video helped, but what do I need if I bought the car from a company in Canada who imported it from Japan? I already have the Bill of Sale and a Canadian Title.
Mine is showing up to the port next month. Am I able to drive it from the port or do I need to trailer it? How do you contact tell the Okinawa port to let them know your new address for the export title?
Yourcarbro this was so helpful man.we are going to ship back a r33 skyline back and was wondering can you ship the car the same month it was made or the next month
D Kush For the sake of argument, they are not. General rule of thumb is that a car needs to be at least 25 years old to the month before an average person can bring them over.
Hey Spencer. Thanks for all the info, man. Good to know. Of all the time I've been watching your videos, I never thought of you as a poser, but I guess I was wrong.😂 That was a creative way to break up a lot of talking. You definitely kept it interesting, so I'll have to give you an A+ for that.👍 Your two Huskies are so beautiful, man.😍 I hope to see some videos of them chasing those ND gophers some day. Y'all take care & enjoy the rest of your evening.✌
You heard it here first, with those poses, Spencer will be creating a second channel called, yep you guessed it...YourPornBro :) just some light humor to lighten up your day :)
Spencer on Garage Defend website , are those the Skylines they have for sale right now ??? Not sure what's available for Sale ??? Your Right each State is it's Own Night Mare !!! California being the Biggest & Most Expensive !!!
Hey Glenn. It's the same as before. You can see current inventory here. www.goo-net.com/php/shop/stock.php?client_id=0200077&area_id=15&sort_car_cd=10151010|10151010&baitai=t_blnk
Here in NJ it took me about 4 months to get my title. The whole process was a frustrating nightmare, all because of various human errors. In NJ, you don't go to DMV, you have to mail your stuff into an office in Trenton. Just one example of NJ stupidity, I overnighted the paperwork to NJ, two weeks later I got it back saying it was fake because it had writing on it. The seller had written something small in pencil on the corner of the Export Certificate just to keep track of the car in their records. I took 5 seconds to remove it with a pencil eraser and overnighted it back. There was various other magic I had to pull to overcome stupid crap like a missing freight stamp on one sheet (that I have no idea how you'd legitimately get after the fact) but I got it registered in the end. Car was sitting in my garage for 4 months, un-drivable. Talk about frustrating.
Did you have your FRS in government storage while you were in Japan? Just wondering if TMO/DMO would let you ship a vehicle back if you pay for them to do it. I may have to use an actual shipping company here in Oki for my RX-7
You’re a mind reader! Thanks for the great info. 2 questions: I want to bring a Hiace hitop van 🚌over. 1. Is there a height restriction or height requirement since it will be kind of like one of those higher top vans? And 2. Do you have to have owned your vehicle for more than one year before you can bring it over on orders? Thanks 😃
I was going to ask if GD will translate the certificate also. That’s good that GD looking out with sending the export certificate before hand. 👌🇯🇵 Still waiting on that special BTS of GD you mentioned months ago.
I guess I will contact you to try to get a R34 Vspec II lol maybe I should not wait for few more years and just get the 32. Anyways, nice video to know how to import jdm to the states as true story
You just let me know when your ready and I will be here to help!
Beautiful dogs
Thanks!
Thanks man just shipped my RX7 this is very helpful:)

8:30 was my favorite pose =D Love the informative vids man, very helpful. I'll refer back to these in two years.
haha glad it will help!
Yea i kept all my docs. I have the original blue Export form and a translated copy. And the 19% tax exempt from germany. I have a R33 GTR i got from japan last year and im stationed in Germany. Hope the process is General the same. Thanks for the good info
Daniel culver Unless there is a special military exemption, make sure the car is at least 25 years old before you head back over to the States
WaifuForLaifu o it will be lol
Thanks for the info. I’m trying to buy one from someone who had them imported
Video starts at 3:40.
Is it easier if the vehicle is over 25 years old? Looking for a Suzuki Jimny 660cc turbo.
Super easy when it's 25 years old. Shoot us a message if you are in the market for one.

Are cars imported under the 25 year rule liable for gas guzzler tax?
Not in most states. What state are you in?
Your dogs are super cute!
so you can register and legally drive a car in the US with the drivers seat on the right side???
yep!
Wow bro you bought your car on my birthday. Now I need to buy a supra on my birthday. Lol. Nice 32
So much poses in one video. I’m enjoying it xD
And as always thanks for posting!

Congrats on the pups!! Looking forward to more GTR mods to come now that you’re stateside!!! ✌🏻
What year is your GTR?
Nice. I’m still trying to get mine good for California. I’m about to register it out of state. >_
Method Gatz my buddy paid 10k just to get his carb legal
Fernando Delarosa Geebus... that cost more than I paid for my car. Haha
I saw your car at the show in north datko and I live in underwood
Do you think I’ll be able to register a r34 that’s for sale in Seattle? I live in Cali I’m at Edwards
NO

Cool video! So you say you are part of garage defend. I was wondering if I have a car already over there that I want to ship back in the states. Do you guys import cars in general or just the ones purchased at Defend?

You are correct. I was in Okinawa.
Awesome Huskies!
what if you don't have the export certificate and just the title and delete registration certificate from the owner in japan ?
Not saying ive done it but I know where you can go to get a pretty good pull. That's not on a road that any cops watch. 😁 also I understand your frustration with the DMV people in Minot they are a frustrating bunch. Fyi from what I know north dakota does require you to have both plates on the vechile although you can keep the Okinawa plates. I'm not sure because it's a kind of strange thing for up here.
So can we buy a gtr off of you?
Yes! Message me on my facebook page and id be happy to help.
too bad youre not coming to driven in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, maybe you can swing it . that would be wicked awesome if you could
When and what is that?
its September 22nd, its a part of the tour the do across Canada , the hit pretty much all the major cities , different cars at every event , there is also summer heat in Saskatoon on august 18th and dodo logics fallout in Regina in the fall. some interesting events not that far from you in North Dakota . can shoot me a dm on instagram @hatchetman81fms .
Never mind the 10 days it takes them to get around to check the application in the first place.) Frustrating times but hopefully the first drive makes it all worthwhile! The R32 is looking great as always!

Sounds like a sketchy situation. Idk what your best option is there.
I laughed out loud when I saw you lying on the GTR. Thanks for that, I have watched and liked every single one of your videos since cars for sale in Japan one (Feb 2016) over two years subscribed. Beautiful dogs.
Why do you still have Okinawa number plates?! You had to return it I’m not sure if soldiers need to return their plates too tho.
5% sales tax? That’s nothing. In Denmark we pay 180% to import a car. Yes, 180%, that’s not a typo. :)
jeezeeee that's crazy
That seal on rear plate will be hard to beak as I had to drill mine off. You will have to put the plates where they suppose to go. okay so i just bought a 1994 mazda rx 7 in finland i do have a couple questions if you get this
I want to import a version 1 vspec R34 for show and display till it's legal in 2024 how would I go about that
man I wish you was in Florida as always love seeing your videos them poses though switching on us flexing lol dope
So, how can I go about getting an import car from you all? At McGuire AFB and want to import a JDM
Contact me on FB or by email and I would be glad to help.idriveans2k@gmail.com
The State probably charged you a "Use" tax for the use of the personal property in your state.
So when does he actually get to the subject in the video title instead of babbling about shit no one cares about.
Do you frequently cry this much?
@@YourCarBro not as often as I have to sift through videos to find the actual content
Cut your new plate so us plate slips over Japanese plate lock
Thats the plan!
Great video. You laying on your trunk had me rollin hard!!!
How do you buy a car through GD?
haha glad you liked it.
You can buy one of the cars we have in stock or we can source you one from auction. You can see some of the stock here.

shus369 how much did you pay OTD if you don’t mind me asking. I live in LA , we get taxed so much here in SoCal
It depends on the car, but for a GTR its $10,000.
I’m just starting the process here in Massachusetts as well. Your video helped, but what do I need if I bought the car from a company in Canada who imported it from Japan? I already have the Bill of Sale and a Canadian Title.
Anybody know whats a good place to import a car? I've been wanting to import a car now for a while.
I wonder how hard it will be to register one in South Dakota?....what is it like trying to get insurance for these cars?
Ima bout to register my toyota soarer i just got my american title is it hard to get insurance ive heard its a hassle?
It might be better if you to grab some paint protection film for the bumper or other parts, just in case some bigger bugs or debris scratch the paint
Are r34 legal to import to the us
D Kush For the sake of argument, they are not. General rule of thumb is that a car needs to be at least 25 years old to the month before an average person can bring them over.
How did you insure the car did you have any issues? Do you just insure it with a regular insurance company?
are jdm vans a thing?
nick lindsey very much so. From 4x4 diesel to funky over accessorize flashing vans.
so like a 5 speed honda odyssey jdm conversion?
I worknin newtown i got to minot often
Hey Spencer. Thanks for all the info, man. Good to know. Good luck with your BNR32, recommending you to get a HKS Hi-Power exhaust
What is your power goal for the 32?
You heard it here first, with those poses, Spencer will be creating a second channel called, yep you guessed it...YourPornBro :) just some light humor to lighten up your day :)
Do you just import Skylines or other jdm vehicles as well?
Garage defend site in English yet?
Thank for the video very helpful !! I’m shipping my JZX90 @ end of July to Dallas Tx but I was wondering what Insurance company did you use?
You got my sister's dogs!!! Take care of em!
We will! I love them and they are already part of the family
Spencer on Garage Defend website , are those the Skylines they have for sale right now ???
Not sure what's available for Sale ???
Your Right each State is it's Own Night Mare !!!

That’s crazy you have to pay sales tax. What a scam
Not as bad as Australia 23% sales tax + compliance plate $2000 . 500,000 yen car is $13000
Hi there, do you remember how much you paid to have it shipped to the US? Thanks.
Nice house
Captain and Maria are gorgeous, bro. 😁👀 I miss my 2 I used to have.
Thanks brother!
Those are some cool dogs
Is that a crack on the windshield? 2:33
Nope just the antenna
I think they left a zero off of the weight. Should have read "1480kg". (From an Aussie)
probably. 148kg makes no sense. and i think the official weight of the R32GTR is 1430 kg. so 1480kg shipping weight would make sense. (From a German)
Hi, I think you are right (from an Italian)
Guess they meant hectograms
1480 is what mine read as well.
True (from a Korean)
No notification here.. too bad..
The pooches are awesome!
I'm a bit late, but will you go to like big car shows in SD or maybe even Chicago?
You’re a mind reader! Thanks for the great info. 2 questions: I want to bring a Hiace hitop van 🚌over. 1. Is there a height restriction or height requirement since it will be kind of like one of those higher top vans? And 2. Do you have to have owned your vehicle for more than one year before you can bring it over on orders? Thanks 😃
I was going to ask if GD will translate the certificate also. That’s good that GD looking out with sending the export certificate before hand. 👌🇯🇵
Still waiting on that special BTS of GD you mentioned months ago.
How much did you spend sounds like a lot
What happened with the first upload
