FINALLY a video of a RUclipsr that explains how to import car! Every other RUclipsr Clickbaits on how to import one and they just says while driving an import car. "The car is still illegal guys", "it just takes hard work to get one", " Ive always wanted a JDM car and now here it is!" or they dont bother to tell you how they got it type of shit... I have to say to you is THANKS BRO!👊🏾 ill be sure to get one from you guys
Altho I knew all of this my self since I'm in that business, I just don't do youtube videos.. . Im super happy to see that someone, specially you mate! Detailing it out for everyone. It's easy process! Plus have a few grand set aside for that tax you'll have to pay the state. I always stress the fact to use a certified for the translation and even that cost an avg 30-40$ All the paperwork you will inherently get from LTO/DMV and shipper 😂
Thanks so much for the info! My wife and I spent 3 years in Okinawa and I brought a 1994 Toyota Mark II Tourer V back to South Carolina with me. Working on the registration now. Maybe Ill pass you on the road one day!
I brought a 1967 convertible Mustang to Okinawa around 2001. I got lots and lots of attention. But after a couple years it was becoming a rust bucket and had several problems. I sold it to a Japanese friend that his family owned a used car dealership. I think I still have the US title for it.
Crazy timing man. Literally dropped my CRX off yesterday at Naha Port to be shipped to Atlanta. Making a video of my experience, but not as in depth as yours lol. Luckily, I learned from a friend that the USO on Kadena has a translating service ($50) to translate my export certificate. Can't wait for it to arrive and be driving RHD in the states. I'm just hoping for no hiccups with registering with the TN DMV. Keep the vids coming!
Sweet video! I wanted to know because the registration can’t happen unless you show insurance right? Wanted to ask if maybe a video on insurance options? Maybe for people that want to possibly daily these cars and don’t have a garage? I’m in Florida and hopefully would like to land a S15 possibly from you guys. Thanks!!
Can you do a video on how to lookup Japanese auctions, how to sort out deposits with Garage Defend for bids, costs for having someone go look at a car, estimating total titling/shipping costs, talk about storage costs/ options, and just what it looks like from start to finish?
Going through this process now in Jersey. I had to mail in my documents to the main dmv office in Trenton along with a money order for the taxes and title fees. Hopefully everything is good and I get my title soon. The lady said it can take up to 12 weeks to mail the title to me but I’m hoping it’s a lot quicker than that.
Not a gimmick. The vessel tracking system is called AIS (Automatic Identification System). If the vessel within certain distance of the coast or a VTS (Vessel Traffic System) it will automatically update the position of the vessel by VHF radio. Outside of that distance it uses a satellite reciever/transmitter and that isnt cheap for the function. The companies are just recouping a little money on the system they have.
Did the DMV say anything about the front and back of the export certificate needing to be translated? I'm also in the upstate and it would be nice to only have to get the front side translated as it should be, but you never know with the DMV. Really really appreciate this video man. Going through the process within the next moth or so.
heres a problem i ran into when i bought my car from an importer here in the states. it was already titled in one state and when i brought it to my state they gave me a BUNCH of issues saying the title was wrong (japan vins are of course shorter) took me 3 days to get it titled and i had to bring the car to them. never got any copies of import papers to show that either. same thing happened to a friend but that time they wanted to see import papers which thankfully they had. so the DMV is a total shit show when it comes in gray market cars.
Early crew, chillin with Yourcarbro! Really, really cool app that shows all of the boats. Didn't realize there was that many. My question to you is, what do you think about JapanPartner company. With respect to you and JapanPartner. I used to look at their stock years ago when I had money lol. ✌🎉
Why didn't you have customs pre-cleared prior to autoliner reaching port? Had another JDM offload yesterday in Newport News, which had cleared on Tues. Waiting longer is unnecessary in most instances.
I was talking to some brokers and realized we'll have to get the ISF filled out by Doston at least 3 days before the car is put on the ship. 5 more days then I hope Doston can get in touch with me and the others waiting for export asap otherwise I don't see myself driving the gtr before March lol.
Are you going to have a garage defend USA lot and are you going going to have a dealership were people can just purchase and have all already done of course it will be attached to the price of the car 🤔😊🙏🏽
Hey your car bro, I just took my stuff to the dmv these people said my name needs to be on export Certificate!? I’m like the guys has to have his name on it so it’s released from Japan. Long story short due to Covid she wants me to mail my stuff in and wait 4 weeks.... sigh wish me luck tomorrow.
Just have Spencer do paperwork, once he has a SC title easier for you to transfer to your state. Got my car in Texas with Texas title, went to North Carolina DMV took all of 20 min and only $137. They put the tax value at $560 so that is all I paid the 3% sales tax on and property tax. Not the $18800 I paid for the car. Also when Spencer has a system in place and a go to person at DMV it will be so easy for him to get it done.
Does garage defend offer storage options for vehicles that you have for sale that don’t meet the US 25 year import rules or is it possible to import the vehicle and store it state side and register it when it meets the 25 year rule?
I have imported a JDM car to SC before, and I was told send off all my information to the head office in Blythewood, SC. I also did not have to include the translation form 4030 either. I had to fill out the following forms to get my JDM registered. Form 400 application of title, Form TI-021A Affidavit of Ownership for a Motor Vehicle, Trailer or Mobile Home, Form TI-021B Vehicle Identification Verification for Title without a Previous Title, Form MV-103 Affidavit of Responsibility, and maybe (it's been awhile so I'm unsure) Form TI-006 Statement of Vehicle Operation in South Carolina. My car had to carry the brand "undisclosed lien" for 120 days, and once it was up I was able to go to my local DMV and pay for a new unbranded title. I can share more about my experience if anyone is interested.
That's a huge help and great feedback. I am in SC and might reach out if I run into issues. My car has been here a while but i've been dreading the process. Does your VIN have 17 digits or is it less? My JDM car is only 9 digits VIN. Did you have any issues with that part?
Glad to see everything coming together bro! Wondering if someone has you do all the paperwork and get it US titled does the car come with a SC title with the business name on it?
Thanks man! Eventually yes that's how it will work. Once the LLC is all set up and everything. For now it will just be my name and transferring it that way.
YourCarBro is that even possible? There is no other way to regs an imported car in cali. No one seems to have an answer. Only loop hole i found is to regs under a show car. Even that is near impossible.
Once the R34 becomes legal expect the prices to surge and people will be making a killing on imports. Here in Canada they are legal but our prices will rocket too.
@@adamperrett834 I technically can but still technically illegal and I dont have any family out of state and most states that doesn't have as strict emission laws require an address to get them registered
If the vehicle is insured and the car clears customs and is ready to pick up at the port, can you drive the car from the port to the DMV? Or does it have to be on a trailer?
I think it’s mostly up to the officer who pulls you over. I’m going to drive on back without a plate probably. Should be the same as buying a car from someone private party.
Sounds like you do actually need a proper translator? I'd look into that rather than trying to chance it with individual DMV workers not checking/caring. Otherwise it sounds like you are learning all the ins and outs of the process. Now you just need more cars!

Hey Spencer.🖐 I was having trouble commenting last night, but it's working now. Great information, brother! Thanks for spreading the word.🙏
This video was greatly informative, I'm looking for a 99 Honda CR-V RD-2 from Japan
Great video! Thank you. Hopefully I can find a car soon and not worry about scammers taking money and I dont get a vehicle in 2 months. But! Lets see!
Fantastic info, bro. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! -MTCC
Dude that GPS mapping app you were using to track the boat looked too doped. Digging your content just subbed!
Sweet these were questions I've been wondering about
It's really easy to register cars here in ND. I grew up in east TN and it was alot harder there.
Can you do a video on how to lookup Japanese auctions, how to sort out deposits with Garage Defend for bids, costs for having someone go look at a car, estimating total titling/shipping costs, talk about storage costs/ options, and just what it looks like from start to finish?
I should be able to do something like that soon
Perfect since I’m from Columbia SC. Thanks bro
Great video. I didn't know the process. Thanks for explaining.

That sounds awful...
How do you get it from the port to your house without any registration? Do you have to tow it home?
You can drive it home, just say you just bought it. Which you did, i do that all the time.
Not a gimmick. The vessel tracking system is called AIS (Automatic Identification System). Good point. I guess it’s best to always keep import paperwork even after it’s titled

I don’t want to say anything bad but I’d definitely suggest reading some reviews lol
Do you know if there is a form called an "ISF filing" that is included with all the docs delivered by DHL?
Thanks.
which color of GTR r33 is more popular in the USA?

I recently had a car imported and is at the port now. I believe they want to send my car back and I need help.
Cool bro. Hey I was wondering can you help me find a 1996 subaru legacy rsb please
What’s the process or how do I start the process of buying a car from you guys?
I'm at Yokota. Will Garage Defend ship/export vehicles that I already own that I can just drop off at garage defend?
So actually leaving Okinawa. Going to Maryland, what are some tips to do before I leave the island
Just curious on what the prices for USA state transport is from the port. I'm sure it's a separate price than the boat.
Does usa have custom fees at port ?

We do offer storage in Japan
How does insurance work? How would thy determine what to charge you
Some places do "market value" for the car and some do "agreed upon value" based on looking at the car or getting an appraisal done.

How much is the stupid property tax on them JDM in SC? You can't register it till you pay that.

Gotta figure that out first
