for people that don't have tow rig or want to drive their cars from the port themselves, I recommend getting a temporary plate first. I went with Montana LLC route and they need the export certificate, english translation, customs documents (hs7 (DOT), EPA and etc), and a VIN inspection (which I'm pretty sure Vermont and South Dakota don't even need) for temp plates. With temp plates, you can move your car to your home and register it later!

It's in surprisingly good shape based on the pictures and inspection, considering I only paid $265 for the truck and $2115 to have it cleaned, shipped and warranted. Being a light truck, the import duty is 25% (the protectionist Chicken Tax), so I'm hoping I pay 25% of $265. :-)

Approximately 6 weeks RORO shipping from Yokohama to the east coast of the US. For some reason, it also took six weeks from the time I paid until the kei truck was shipped. I think they were waiting long enough that the payment couldn't be reversed? Apparently the minimum is approximately three months after purchase for a JDM vehicle to arrive in the US.

Not every state accepts this and for some the requirements are much moe strict. Good advice though. Wisgi had the opportunity

Garage defend was the company I used. They stored the vehicle in Nagoya. Garage r is a dealer franchise and most likely do not store vehicles
