I applied for the loan forgiveness due false promises from the school I attended over ten years ago. And I also applied for a three year forbearance as well. I simply cannot afford to pay it. I make less than ppl at McDonald's for sure. And no they won't hire me. I am relying on my daughter to pay our rent and it's expensive at the tune of $900 a month. Plus, we pay our own utilities. As for food, we pay that as well because we make too much for SNAP. I have over $7000 in credit card debt and a $600 car payment a month. I don't see why it can't be forgiven.

I think that the Federal Government should Investigate some of the schools and colleges to see how they took poor students loans and did not issue it fairly.all these need to be properly investigated.I owed $40,000.00 in student Loans and work as a slave and still have no money to pay back,I have no Idea where did all this loan money money went.I did not Benefit from it.But In God i Place my Everlasting life.

I have an annual income of $30, 416. I've tried to fill out the form for SAVE and get stumped because I don't have W2s (I mad under $2,000 on two projects ending in July and have not worked since.) I can't figure how to answer the financial section because all I have are Social Security and an annuity that amounts together to $30,416. I am under $32,000 the cut off, but can't figure out how to explain that on the form. I've tried 3 or 4 times. an someone get back to me next week? Thanks.

Not working in the field I got the certificate in. It’s not even a degree and I definitely make less than what I would make if I worked in that field. In fact, the program should not offered. But you live and you learn, and guess what… I still have a 30.000 bill to pay back.

Looks like everyone here should have a $0 payment. Just going by what is written here?

I graduated from Mildred Elley school since 2011 and I'm still stuck on a loan of 19 thousand dollars because I kept forbearing and can't seem to pick myself up.

I attended University of Washington, got my MSW in clinical social work (therapist), and practiced at non-profits. Nelnet holds my loans, and, of course charges interest, even the years I haven't been making payments because of not being employed. Univ. of Wash has no program for letting me EVER get out of owing money I haven't got. The Feds can't help me because most of my public service was too long ago. I taught at all levels, from second grade to college, but before 2002. I paid for my education for a BA in Secondary English Education, MA in Higher Education, and as much as I could earn on my MSW. Now I can't get on the SAVE Plan because U.W. NEVER told me they would never let me off. I'm 79 and have outstanding $45,000 and President Biden is apparently unaware of schools like UW not cooperating with his SAVE Plan.

My degree in healthcare was over 10 years ago and my school promised to help me get in that field. No one would hire me and I am forced to stay in retail. So, I understand how you feel.

Yes there is. If you’re making $32k (and it sounds like you are), then you owe zero per month. IF you’re on the SAVE Plan.

You guys really dumped on FFEL borrowers. Why do we have to open a 20 year Direct Loan to enroll in the SAVE plan? This isn't a consumer loan, it's a sarlacc pit.

From all of the complaints here I would expect that everyone is a democratic supporter (since dems have been trying to do student loan forgiveness for years) Take some action and exercise your right to vote and get rid of repubs who don't want to help you at all.

Except the dems have been and continue to lie to you and not give you any of the fruit they promise you several times forgiveness, but look where you are now.

I definitely believe before giving out student loans people need an educational evaluation because so many say they cannot pay them back because of them not choosing a career path that would lead to a good job , why would you borrow money especially large amounts without understanding how loans and interest work and expect it to be forgiven because you made a poor choice in careers some of you don't have the mindset for college and should have picked a trade school , college is for indepth learning not take a few classes and drop out or go for frivolous experience to leave home. Education is a serious commitment and so is borrowing money .

Here's the thing. I took out a moderate amount (think midrange SUV at this point). I was banking on getting a moderate office job in addition to my arts training. AND I DID. At one point I paid back a 1/5 of it and didn't miss a payment. These loans are structured to a) not pay down the principle b) not allow leniency for temporary disability for accidents and childbirth, etc (you're totally disabled or nothing).
Gen X got slammed with Bush's stupid post war recession right in the window to pay down the principle. I had lay off after layoff, with longer and longer gaps between job offers. In my case I went partially blind at 29, then got dragged under with medical debt. In short, this country is a nightmare and this is no way to educate a capable workforce.

If you haven't walked in another's shoes, you should not degrade another. Life has many unforeseen turns....unless your rich....live a little, there's a turn ahead.
