I'm still confused, I had got an email about my FAFSA being processed successfully, and I went to make corrections to add 10 other schools I am planning to apply to. I pray I did this right so I can apply to more than 10 schools.
I remember back in 2009 when I did this. Biggest mistake of my life. I did not graduate, I owe over 40,000 dollars , and the interest killed my credit score all the way down to 380. It was so bad that I would get calls from creditors at work, or letters to my job where they would take my paychecks if I did not pay them back. Basically. Do not do any of this, work, save money, and then look for a community college and expand from there. Loans does not equal education. Free tuition = education. I hope you all have rich parents to avoid these loans.
addidas nike this is what I learned so far from the comments I received on a previous video: Fafsa is just an application that allows you to take loans, however! If you are poor, meaning your family is in the poor income bracket, then when you fill up your Fafsa application, you are offered Pell grants! Pell grants are free money to help you pay for school (its free if they consider you poor enough). If you go to a community college, with pell grants, then you technically get paid to go to school for free. However!!! If you are not poor, and your family makes more than the average poor family, then you will only be taking loans. My mistake was: I took every loan that was offered to me, once I was kicked out of the university, I had to pay every single loan.
addidas nike you have to look that up on google, on 2008-2009 Making under 14-18,000 was kinda poor. I just google it, and to be “poor” the limit is 26,000 per year nowadays. Like that you get a lot of free money. But community college is extremely cheap! You could take basic classes over there and manage to get a degree at little to no cost.
Do not forget that despite how ever many billions of dollars these scumbags make for free, they somehow managed to create one of the worst websites possible. Good luck on finding anything that you actually need to do on this shithole.
I applied for financial aid and it’s taking too long to process and I’m close to the due date. There should be a date for expected amount :/. I can’t tell when it’s coming or not
Login to your FAFSA and make sure it shows 'Processed'. If so, your school determines what aid you're eligible for based on your FAFSA info. Did you ask your school (financial aid office) about Direct Unsubsidized Loans? Most people qualify regardless of EFC. Options: bit.ly/2UaRan5
Did you list the new school on your FAFSA? If not, login to your FAFSA, select 'Make Corrections' and add it so your new school has your info. If you've already done that then check with the financial aid office at your new school about your financial aid notification. If you did not enroll at the wrong college no money was disbursed. Your new school will use your FAFSA info to determine types and amounts of aid you're eligible for.
Have you already received your aid offer and you're just waiting for your school to pay out the funds? Are you a first-time student loan borrower? If so, you may need to wait 30 days after the semester starts before your loan funds can be paid out. We encourage you to keep communicating with the school. This is a busy time of year for financial aid offices, but if you're concerned about the way your school is handling your aid, you can submit a complaint here: StudentAid.gov/feedback
Never lived with my parents but have to get tax forms from my biological mom who is reluctant in providing it. Applied with the information she told me, which could be accurate or not. I have no way of knowing and only got awarded 50% of Pell based on what she said.. Not enough to cover a fraction of one semester. How do I apply for the first generation or the SEOG or anything other than loans to assist with the cost of tuition?
We definitely understand that free money, like grants and scholarships, are the preferred type of financial aid because they don’t have to be paid back. Your school will use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for these grants, and if you do, you’ll get them. If you still have a gap between what your school costs and the amount of grants, scholarships, and out-of-pocket funds you can afford to pay, federal student loans can be a good option. Federal student loans offer several advantages over private student loans and most people qualify. If you want more free money, make sure you apply for scholarships. There are tons out there!
I filled out the fsfsa with help from a school counselor as I am a senior citizen and it said I was approved at the end. I just watched the video. What do I need to do to receive this aid as school starts next week
I just finished using the parent information, and I manually completed my kid's info. And, I declared that my kid is totally dependent, and we are a marriage filing together. Well, my husband hasn't received the email to do his part. And at any moment I was asked to connect with the IRS. So I am totally confused. I want to double check if there is a mistake, and now, because one of the parents (me) completed the form and my kid signed, I cant' access it either.
So I’m pretty new to this, and I think I’ve took to long to do all this, so if let’s say I enrolled already in a community college and starting in the fall, I’ve signed up for FAFSA, and I’m not well prepared, can I opt out of college for a year and then prepare myself looking for scholarships and funds to start the next year using FAFSA? Because right now I’m a total mess
Our Fafsa application shows processing on the website but it was submitted 6 weeks ago. Supposedly it takes less than a week electronically. What should we do?
i didn't get my fafsa award because of my tax return papers, i don't know why it's so complicated. i think it's complicated to everyone in somehow, or it's just me tho!?
I have been trying to get mine since the beginning of the semester, I really do need it. It has been so complicated for me as well i hope everything works out.
Is it wise to put the excess money into an S & P investment ETF and let it grow while I am still learning? I asked to get a refund of the money for 3 years since 2018 and never got it until 2021 while I was to start my master's degree. I feel like I wish I could have put it into the investment to let it grow and not be overcome too much by interest of debt when I finish school.
Not when the housing market is close to tanking, it will effect the rest of the economy so I suggest pulling out pretty soon, estimates put it somewhere between 2026-2030
In the video it states that any leftover money from grants and loans that did not go towards tuition and fees go to the individual. Does this money get taxed because it was not used for educational purposes?
Once you've completed your FAFSA and have been accepted by a school, the school's financial aid office will send you a financial aid award letter indicating what aid you are eligible for. If you get into more than one school, each school will send you an award letter and you can compare them.
I just complected the FAFSA online but I accidentally choose the option that my parents were not willing to provide their information. Can I fix it after submitting the form?
I attended college before and paid for it out of pocket. I didn’t do so good in certain classes due to lack of finances. Do those grades affect me from getting fafsa? Even if those classes weren’t paid by fafsa?
Your GPA is not a factor in determining whether you're eligible for federal student aid. However, you need to make satisfactory academic progress in order to continue receiving federal student aid: bit.ly/36Hrbar. Check with your school about the GPA requirements.
What happens when the college you are attending says you dont qualify because of previous bad grades? Only you didn't get bad grades because it was a form of identity theft and someone frauded your academic account. The school won't accept the police reports or appeals because I won't admit to something that wasn't me. Anyone know of legal assistance that helps with education issues?
No they signed up for classes in hopes of getting the money but didn’t get it after all and they never dropped the classes just got F’s as a result so now don’t qualify for my financial Aid package
"Financial aid" is a broad term which includes: federal student aid (student loans, Pell Grant, and work-study funds) and any other aid you may get from non-federal sources. This can be your school (like a school scholarship) or your state. How your school applies your aid is something you need to contact them about. An aid disbursement could be directly taken from your account, or you may get a debit card. Each school is different.
You never know unless you file! Your eligibility for financial aid is based on a number of factors, and that might change each year: studentaid.gov/complete-aid-process/how-calculated. Plus, many states, schools, and private scholarships require you to submit the FAFSA before they will consider you for any financial aid they offer. Fill out the application and find out what you can get!
Hi Meredith, View your SAR by logging in to your FAFSA form and selecting “View or Print your Student Aid Report (SAR)” from the “My FAFSA” page. bit.ly/3tfDvcU
@@Alibern7 yeah np, it doesnt matter if you delete the school from list bc they already sent ur info there. You should be able to put in the schools then make sure to submit it and within 24-48hrs they will send you a confirmation were it says what you did was correct- or like no errors. Dont put schools twice because you dont want colleges to have 2 different acc. From u.
You may need to find other sources of aid if you have a gap in your college costs. Were you offered any federal unsubsidized loans? Most students are eligible for that type of aid. If you need more aid, apply for more scholarships or look into these options: bit.ly/2K0kYMp
It depends on what type of aid you’ll be receiving. Typically, the college applies your grant or loan money toward your tuition, fees, and (if you live on campus) room and board. Any money left over is paid to you for other expenses.
same here but log in into your fafsa account and go back to the fafsa form and it will say fafsa processing completed something like that. Its quite annoying but mine been approved.
So i got a question. Someone plzzz answer. So I get my first two years free at my cc so does that mean I get all the money from what I was granted to spend on something else?
Federal student aid covers such expenses as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation (excluding car purchase). Aid also can help pay for other related expenses, such as a computer and dependent care. bit.ly/2VL77k3
In order to receive federal student aid, you must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen: studentaid.gov/understand-aid/eligibility/requirements/non-us-citizens
I applied while i was a junior in high school, I thought i was just making a regular account however i’m seeing my pell grant amount..is this going to mess up the process for when i actually need to apply in 2022?
The confirmation page at the end of your FAFSA form gives you estimates of what you COULD qualify for. The real aid amounts arrive with the aid offer from your school(s), and you won't get one until you've been accepted to a school. After acceptance, your school(s) will look up your FAFSA info in our system and create an aid offer for you. If you haven't applied to any colleges, you won't get an aid offer. Completing a FAFSA form early has no impact on your aid. You should not consider the confirmation page as your aid package. bit.ly/3hAtHqY
So in order to know how much aid a school is giving me, i first have to accept the acceptance and then let them process my fafsa information, then they will tell me? Because right now i just accepted admission into FIU and it says $0 for aid so is this just a placeholder number or does this mean im in trouble?
Once you complete your FAFSA and been accepted to the school, the financial aid office will calculate how much aid you're eligible for. Here's what you can expect: bit.ly/2YWDQSS Some options to consider if you don't get enough aid: bit.ly/2UoyEc6
so i just finished applying FAFSA like an hour ago and it says PROCESSING. How do I add schools? Should I wait or what? Website says to login to FAFSA and go to Make FAFSA Corrections but I don't see the button. Both this video and the website is so lack of explanation. Can you help me?
Check with the financial aid office at your school to see generally how long the review takes and when you can expect to receive an answer on y our paperwork. Each school is different.
Typically, yes, you need to be accepted before a school will award you aid. You can fill out your FAFSA now so you don't miss any priority deadlines and list all schools you are considering. Each school has a different timeline for awarding financial aid. Contact the school for specifics: bit.ly/2y8m1GR
10 000 they offer more but you got to have your mom or dad in your process remember they money can be used for room rent i got the gov grant thats a blessing
If you will be attending college between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023, you should file a 2022-23 FAFSA at fafsa.gov. In other words, the 2022-23 FAFSA will apply to Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters for most schools.
In order to receive federal student aid, you must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen: studentaid.gov/understand-aid/eligibility/requirements/non-us-citizens
I just want to fix my paren't's ssn to 0s because I put their work ssn by mistake. These people keep sending me everywhere. I tried finding a way to restart my fasfa entirely, but only ended up back in the correction form. Fuck this is confusing.

Should I apply for fafsa after I get accepted or before?. College application take a long time, so should I wait for college acceptance letters before filling out fafsa?. What about fafsa dealine then?.
My efc was was 000898. Does this mean I only have to pay $898 yearly for college and they will pay the rest? I also have a Pell grant of $5345. How do I accept the Pell grant. Also does my efc number only cover tuition or does it also cover housing. Thank you in advance
Your EFC is a measure of your family’s financial strength and is calculated according to a formula established by law. Your EFC is not the amount of money your family will have to pay for college nor is it the amount of federal student aid you will receive. It is a number used by your school to calculate the amount of federal student aid you are eligible to receive. Read and follow the directions in the aid offer. You might have to enter the amounts you’re accepting in an online form and then submit the form. If you receive a paper aid offer, you might have to sign it and mail it back to the school.
if the priority dead line for my state has passed but not the federal one and i just applied applied for it (a couple days ago) and i already received an award letter, will i get the funds for the fall and spring semester? or no. This is for 2019-2020.

I did the fafsa online and my status is “successfully processed”. What is a normal wait period for schools to tell you how much aid you have?
We process your application within 3-5 days and send info to your school(s). What to expect next: bit.ly/31jf4wO
All this is so confuse, you apply for the financial aid, apply for the college for then at the final end figure out if you’re gonna get the aid or not

Your parents probably make too much so you won’t be able to get it
I went to the financial aid office and ive been waiting for almost about 8-9 weeks and still have not received my check ? What’s wrong ?

Hi! I have a question, so how can I know if my federal aid can’t be accepted after I submit the form?
You never know unless you file! Your eligibility for financial aid is based on a number of factors, and that might change each year: studentaid.gov/complete-aid-process/how-calculated. Plus, many states, schools, and private scholarships require you to submit the FAFSA before they will consider you for any financial aid they offer. Fill out the application and find out what you can get!
You don't explain where to find SAR after logging in.
Hi Meredith,
View your SAR by logging in to your FAFSA form and selecting “View or Print your Student Aid Report (SAR)” from the “My FAFSA” page.

I did the fasfa but it only let me put in one school so what should I do?
Once you get your SAR info, go back to where it says add schools and you should remove the one you put in, and then you can add the schools
@@_melumanzor_ oh okay thank you, with this new yt notifications I rarely see what comments I get lol
From u.
@@Alibern7 btw? Have you applied to colleges already or not?
@@_melumanzor_ Yes I have, thank you for your input. What year are you in? (Assuming you’re still in college lol).
I guess am go college broke.......here I go !!!
I have a question. My tuition is 12 k and I recieved $6000.95. Does it pay everything?
You may need to find other sources of aid if you have a gap in your college costs. Were you offered any federal unsubsidized loans? Most students are eligible for that type of aid. If you need more aid, apply for more scholarships or look into these options: bit.ly/2K0kYMp
So when a check is received in the mail, has tuition been paid off?
It depends on what type of aid you’ll be receiving. Typically, the college applies your grant or loan money toward your tuition, fees, and (if you live on campus) room and board. Any money left over is paid to you for other expenses.
First time college student and first time applying and I have no idea if I got approve
same here but log in into your fafsa account and go back to the fafsa form and it will say fafsa processing completed something like that. Its quite annoying but mine been approved.
So i got a question. Someone plzzz answer. So I get my first two years free at my cc so does that mean I get all the money from what I was granted to spend on something else?
Hi Faith,
Can you provide more details? Did you receive a Federal Pell Grant?
Federal Student Aid yes is did cal grant and Pell grant
Federal student aid covers such expenses as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation (excluding car purchase). Aid also can help pay for other related expenses, such as a computer and dependent care. bit.ly/2VL77k3
My fafsa has been processed and I have the sar. But for some reason my school says they haven't received it.
If you did the FAFSA online, we process in 3-5 days & send info to schools. How to check your status: bit.ly/2YCsSRg
Sir it is also for international students.

@@FederalStudentAid Should I fill my FAFSA before applying to school? Should I fill my FAFSA and THEN send it over to the school apply forms?
You can (and should) fill out the FAFSA even before you have admissions applications in, but you won't be awarded aid until you're actually accepted.
I completed my fafsa and it was processed but I still don’t see how much I may receive from fafsa? What do I do?
Hi Kara,
You will get a financial aid award letter from your school listing the aid you are eligible for.
@@FederalStudentAid alright thank you.
so i just finished applying FAFSA like an hour ago and it says PROCESSING. How do I add schools? Should I wait or what? Website says to login to FAFSA and go to Make FAFSA Corrections but I don't see the button. Both this video and the website is so lack of explanation. Can you help me?
Based on what i Saw on the previous video the applications for SAFSA start on October only..
@@fatihachebil7113 no it starts in October and it is opened thru June. that is what I know
Hi Andrew,
You can update your FAFSA after it's been processed (up to 3 days). Follow these steps: bit.ly/2XvhvMR
How do I get my student refund?
David, check with the financial aid office at your school. Any financial aid and/or refunds are paid out by your school.
What if I had a special circumstance and turned in a couple papers they had me fill out from the school, how long does that take to process ?
Check with the financial aid office at your school to see generally how long the review takes and when you can expect to receive an answer on y our paperwork. Each school is different.
So you have to get accepted into a school before they tell you how much money they are offering?
Typically, yes, you need to be accepted before a school will award you aid. You can fill out your FAFSA now so you don't miss any priority deadlines and list all schools you are considering. Each school has a different timeline for awarding financial aid. Contact the school for specifics: bit.ly/2y8m1GR
Yep

10 000 they offer more but you got to have your mom or dad in your process remember they money can be used for room rent i got the gov grant thats a blessing
Someone help I'm going to graduate in Dec2022 so anyone knows cover the fall semester
If you will be attending college between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023, you should file a 2022-23 FAFSA at fafsa.gov. In other words, the 2022-23 FAFSA will apply to Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters for most schools.
Ok so in Oct2022 i can apply for FAFSA and start college in spring 2023?
You can start applying for the 2022-23 FAFSA today if you start college Spring 2023
