Well the spoiler is cool, produces downforce and makes it a better track car. The touring is let’s say a bit more elegant just because of its appearance and has faster speed because of the fewer drag
@@kabob21 the touring and regular both offer a manual and pdk, the gt3rs is pdk only, and is geared shorter than the manual, the manual has taller gears and a higher top speed.
There are other differences. The lower front bumper is painted body colored on the touring, black on GT3. The rear deck lid on the GT3 has a small duck tail, not present on touring. The touring has no alcantara steering wheel. These are pretty big things that mattered to me when choosing between them.
I owned a GT3 touring manual transmission. I think the car is better suited with a PDK trans. Just my opinion. Looking now for a winged GT3 w PDK. I will remove the wing because the back end without the wing is esthetically better IMO when compared to the touring. Love the little duck tail on the winged version.
i have a 992 GT3 with the wing. I drive it on the track often, but i like the look as well. The Touring version has a wing that deploys at speed and serves a purpose. I've taken off the wing and driven it a bit but I consider it unwise since the car was designed to need a wing at higher speeds. this is just my opinion and there are clearly many other opinions
It does look slightly better without it, one of the few times I think that in regards to the GT3 version. Most modern Porches in general look better with a wing I think, but that’s just me. Edit: And the shot at about 3:55 was amazing.

I even agree with you with this specific car, but not with cars like the 2016 GT3 RS or the 2018 GT2 RS for instance. But again, that’s just my opinion. The only reason you buy a GT3 Touring is for the fact that it's naturally aspirated and makes you feel more Elite.. Like a "91q purist'... Not needed to get the "Porsche Experience" for talk world everyday driving... It just sounds different and has a high price tag and is hard to get.. You need to have opened 4 or 4 911s to qualify to order one heh.. Nuts.. They're sell more off this wasn't the ruler
Last weekend a fully streetable road legal 1963 Jag XKE did a 1:27 at Goodwood on cross ply tires. The best GT3 RS time I could find was a 1:26 on race rubber. The Jag still has a fully trimmed interior. Ah progress.

3:55 has significantly less torque and hp then a Turbo S, buy the Turbo put it in sport plus mode, down shift two gears and you will understand why the Turbo is the car to buy for your driving needs
There is no box you can tick to request P Zero corsas or indeed any other tire option. Tourings arrive with whatever tire porsche decided to fit in the factory. You absolutely cannot specify which. So far they’ve used cup 2’s, corsas and some Goodyear tire.
Both of these are true: The soundtrack on the video is amazing yet the soundtrack doesn't do justice to what you hear in person. I know, I know, youtube compressed audio and all that but just in case some aren't aware, listen to one of these in person if you can.
I bought my GT3s to go to the track and I go to the track. At Fontana in California you can tell if the car is unbalanced aerodynamically. The 3 NEEDS the wing. No wing not a 3. I have a 991.2 now but one time I tore my little front spoiler on the 996 GT3 and I went back on the track without it. It was unbalanced over about 120mph without the front lip. The 3 needs it’s spoilers The iconic thing about the 3 is the wing. Without it it looks like a regular 911. I personally think the RS is too much but the regular 3 is perfect
It's actually no more expensive than the standard GT3. Both are GBP 140k-something in UK. It's only when greedy speculators selling slots in the used car market that the GT3 Touring suddenly commands higher price over the winged GT3.
To be honest the discussion is only really academic as nobody can get an allocation for a new UK GT3 let alone a Touring unless you are deemed a very very “special” Porsche customer.
I prefer my winged 992 GT3. It just wouldn’t be a GT without a wing. Porsche needs to stop making 50 different variants of the 911 to please everyone. Make no compromises and stick to the new motto: carpe secundum - get the most out of every second.
Touring from the rear, with its awkward little wing up, is downright “butt ugly”. Looks like any other 992 911. Get the GT3, pull the wing off in 20 minutes, have a beautiful superior Touring with a classic Porsche “duck tail wing” …. !!! Videos on that all over RUclips ….…. 😎
Long story short….. only a small percentage of high level amateur drivers can actually take advantage of downforce on a track. I drive a car with no downforce that many people drive the same car with insane aero added (c7 grand sport) and most haven’t set faster lap times. My father has a gt3 touring and I’ve driven it in south Florida and nobody bats an eye at it. Looks like a normal 911 to the average person. I’ll take that any day. There’s very few tracks that i go to that i would actually need the aero. I’ll take Hoosiers over aero almost 9 times out of ten if I’m chasing lap times
The price difference between aGT4M3 AND new Turbo S isn't that different...... If talking about certified pre-owned GT3S... New GT3z have hefty premiums eg GTE RS add $200k to the sticker price... the only problem i have with the touring is that when that little wing is deployed it looks SO ugly, like i can't bear to know that this is what my car is looking from the outside right now. if it was not for that ugly little thing in the back i would get the touring but as it stands now i would take the wing version.

Porsche 911s have recently become a measuring stick to one’s ego as opposed to their use and driving capabilities. Get past the wallet flexing and ego stroking and one will find every 911 is a weapon of speed from a base 911 to a 911TT. It’s just a matter of which weapon of speed that priorities your use and personal needs. Even the base 911 is 70% more car than even the spirited owner can use on the open roads. They are THE most rewarding performance car one can own. 30 years of 911 ownership as well as others in the top tier speaking. GT3 were designed purely as a track car instead of the ego flexing they’re being used today at the local Starbucks or cars and coffee.
I constantly drive my 911 C4 st 150-170 MPH, so your theory about not getting to see the missing downforce of the resr wing. Yes. I have gotten a few tickets, but with a proper attitude, genuine remorse and the ability to strike up a conversation with the officer AND pay the ticket.
In my opinion I love the giant wing on the Porsche GT three RS. To me it makes the whole car. It is the same way LAMBORGHINI STL looks fantastic with that giant wing. I love radical looking cars. Otherwise the Porsche looks like any other Porsche and boring.

Prefer the Touring. Id always be comparing the GT3RS to the GT3 wings and end up always wanting the 3RS.

Biggest aesthetic difference other than losing the rear wing is the painted front bumper.

You forgot something here ! Air drag !! That's the most important difference! Same downforce but less drag on the GT3

The only real touring 911 is the base model. All others are pointless outside of a track.

I opted for a 2022 GT3 and it's gloriously beautiful wing! For me the touring looked boring. sorry.
