I made a mixtape in 1976 entitled ‘Quicksand’ - it was my favourite Bowie song then, and still is now. The whole ‘Hunky Dory’ album is his Masterpiece.
In a nutshell, the song is about letting go of ego and belief and accepting that you won't know all the secrets of the world until you die. Living life with more freedom and putting the most you can into having a fulfilling life without always pushing yourself into thinking about negatives of not living a certain way. The 1971 studio version and its demo are deep fan favorites. Please check out Changes from the Hammersmith 1973 show. An absolutely phenomenal performance.
Thank you for letting me know that information about the song. I was trying to explain it in my video. But I think you explained it perfectly. Come back for more great reactions like this and more. And thanks again for your comment.
@@jessicamariepresents6490 Lifelong Bowie fan here and I'm 61 years old. The above recommended song is ok, but there are numerous better ones. "Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing (reprise)", "Station to Station" are just two of many I could recommend. The song just shown, "Quicksand" is a classic. This live version is great, but check out the original studio cut. Great orchestration and also beautiful piano from Rick Wakeman.

Nice react, I really love this song, it would be nice if you try more Bowie, 'Be my wife' or 'Fashion', they are very interesting
and catchy.
