This song reminds me too much of Florence Ballad departure (firing) from the Supremes. 1967 music was changing … while still popular but were losing the black audience and the song peaked @#2 (two weeks) on billboard charts. A few didn’t like the group name change …record sales slowed. Great song yet my least favorite.

For me this song is one of the best three songs Burt Bacherach ever wrtote, and considering the amount of hits he wrote, that is truly saying something. I still prefer Cilla Blacks version though..

Growing up in East Oakland in the 60's and 70's, one television, I learned to clear dinner dishes and put food away quicklly with my older sisters. The local tv station KTVU would show I Love Lucy at 7pm and it was the only show dad would'nt call "dibs" for the tv.
