In this tutorial we are using a fresnel light, I forgot to mention that you can replace it with a bare flash with a reflector or something like that to get the same result. Small light source gives these hard shadow edges. 👽
I love shot at 12:02, the strong gradients in upper left and lower right corner with the main "object" laying diagonally. And red candies is candy for eyes. Thanks for sharing!
I have learned so much photography thanks to you! You have re-inspired me to capture photos again. I have now been back to doing the things I truly enjoy and have watched every single one of your videos! Thank you 🙏🏻
Wow! Love the simplicity of the setup and the composition! The candy works! I also think a few bright Red Cherries Only would work, Good Tutorial, I like how you have added the names of the equipment that your using, except, display the names a little longer so one can read them, especially after I have had a few beers! LOL Great job!
Thanks a lot man! Yes I will try to add the equipment in the future, it will take away a lot of work answering the same question over and over. I will try to show them longer in the future, another way is to hit the paus button... 😉
Thanks Martin. My comment about dynamic symmetry in composition was answered I think! I'm pretty sure you were kidding when you said you'd have to look it up, and maybe shooting from the heart is where you are at. I saw you use the golden selection in one video, and wondered if you had any thoughts on composition in general...
For the composition I just go by my gut feeling and experience I guess - from the heart. When you add composition to "dynamic symmetry" I understand 😃 I believe it's the hardest part in photography, and the most important one. You can have the most beautiful light in the world but if the composition is off then you have nothing. I realise I need to do more videos on this topic, it's hard though... I think photographers need to study professional photographers photos to get the basic idea of composition.
Thanks for taking the time to reply Martin, and that is exactly what I have been doing. Not just great modern photography, but some of the old masters of painting too and finding how they studied composition. I saw a video recently and its title was so!etching like "The rule of thirds is destroying photography"... The guy was right to an extent, but from there went on to learn more about dynamic symmetry and how it has been used in fine art and still life composition for centuries. It's a big topic, I realise, and I get the feeling that you shoot from the heart, but you have a great eye. All the best my friend. Looking forward to seeing the next video soon! Simon.
Fun to shoot, also fun to watch. I would love to see a vid where you play with different diffusion materials and observe the influence they have on the image. Just a thought.
Hi Botvidsson. I have discovered you on the search for good studio/product photography. Now one week that i have subbed to you and I am up to date already. Watched all your vids :D. You should consider to blurr your final product in the thumbnail. It all comes more as a surprise when you FINALY show us the results. I am always like; okay show me the final pr- ohh Ive seen it already :/ Keep up the good work and please don't stop this.
Yes. Thanks for that input. Believe me, I have considered that option, not sure yet what to do. You know, people tend to click on great thumbnails instead of reading titles, however, if I can come up with a way to “blur” the image in a way that intrigue people anyway that would be great. At the same time, the way I think is that if I see a beautiful photo in combination with ‘tutorial’ I would click that video instantly. Hard...
@@botvidsson yes.. I see. The final product is more attractive to click on. And so it gives you more views. One click = one "view", but do they watch the entire video or more like; 'oh I see his setup and I got the final product, nice' - leaves video to never sub (he did not get to know you to stick) if they don't have the final product they could stick and watch the entire video, like you, like your style and subscribe you. It's a difficult one. You can ask it in one of your videos while shooting or so.
Im late to see this and really enjoyed and I was trying to figure out how you suspended the shoe with the fishing line without putting a needle thru the shoe did you wedge some wood into the inside back of shoe and tie the line to this? many thansk!
from google " In 1822 a French physicist, Augustin Fresnel, invented a lens that would make his name commonplace along the seacoasts of Europe and North America. This is a first-order Fresnel lens, made in France and shipped to the United States in the mid-19th century."

@@Joker1531993 Yes, a LUT I have, but only for the video that I made and it's called... believe it or not... BOTVID 🤣 In the Hasselblad software Focus I don't put on any LUT, profile or any adjustments like contrast, curves, saturation and so on. What you see on the screen is 100% raw image. 😃
What I mean was more like when you finish your editing on image, and you delivering it to the client, do you use Adobe RGB, or some other colour profile that is merged in final image. More like that. And thank you for the answers.
