Wieder mal ein tolles Video von Dir . Was Du hier zeigst ist der beste Weg zum konstruktiven Foto . So habe ich das selber vor 40 Jahren gelernt. Damn... I am so exicited to this channel and have been a subscriber eversince. Great Tips and Brilliant out of the box numerous ideas from the "Professor" Karl Taylor. The more I watch this channel the more I love photography eventhough I am using entry level camera 👍👍🇲🇨👍
People now likes the spectacularity and don't appreciate your other photos where maybe you put a little more effort in lighting, setup, thinking, etc. But to be honest the flying food photo is rrrrealllyyy good, Karl :)
Great video mate, Thanks! Really enjoying (and learning from) your videos! Have you ever heard of shoe cover dispensers? Seeing all the paint and splashy studio photos makes me thing that disposable shoe covers would help keep the shoots quick! A little googling makes me think the Shoe Inn Fusion or the Hillbrush dispensers seem like good options.
Hi Chad, yes we have packs full of the blue elastic ones in the cupboards. We mostly wear them on car shoots just after we've painted the studio floor to stop getting prints around the car.
Just found your channel Karl and immediately subscribed - it provides invaluable access to a photographer who produces extremely high quality work that I've no doubt seen in glossy magazines and department stores without realising it (they should put photographer credits on ads). One question from this video - are you triggering your shutter manually or with automation - especially in the paint shots (I'm guessing that getting it wrong with a model means numerous splatting/clean-up/make-up and hair/reshooting cycles if you don't get it first time)? The window for the perfect shot will be insanely small right?
Quick question about lighting... with the Hasselblat you can sync at any speed due to having the shutter on the lens, on a DSLR the sync is limited, would you recommend HSS or Hypersync to go past the camera native fastest sync speed?
No not really it's never a problem in studio environment, the only purpose of a higher shutter speed is to cut out the existing ambient light or daylight, which you can keep low in a studio. The shutter speed has nothing to do with freezing the items on a shoot like this, that is done by the flash duration.
Hi Heather, there is a tool in photoshop called motion blur, you use the selection tool to select the area you wish to blur and then apply the motion blur filter.
Thanks for this, great as always! When you combine strobes and speedlights do you use filters on one of them to correct for the different color temperature?
Hi, There would be very little Kelvin temperature difference Speedlites run at 5500K and most studio flashes at 5600K - 6000K, all of which are in the daylight full spectrum range.
The one which is the lipstick shot with two white boxes in your photo profile. I know I may sound bit dumb with this but I just want to figure it out as it looks great for product shoots.
Ahh OK, those aren't cylinders they are sheets of white gloss acrylic that I bent into a curve with extreme force (clamps and bars). One snapped and it wasn't pretty!

You sir, are an international treasure. More information in a 15 minute video than in an entire masterclass.

Hi David, I'm afraid critiques are only available from me through our education platform.
I've been a pro shooter since the 80s, and I would PAY to just be the gopher in your studio. This is SO helpful!
A pro shooter would know it's Gaffer not Gopher

How did u do the explosion ?
That was a great photograph, please tell me how did you explode the ingredients come out from the glass? thank you
Thank you - karltayloreducation.com/class/flying-tea-food-shoot/
Molto interessante!!!!!!!
For the buds - would it be easier to just position them how you like on a glass panel shoot top down and blend in Ps? Less chance and more control
I just started with photography 😁 this video is really cool
Have fun

hi, this part can using by smartphones, i like it..i dont have DSLR..
I'm pretty sure you need a lot more than just a DSLR to pull this off.

how do you add motion blur?
Hi Heather, there is a tool in photoshop called motion blur, you use the selection tool to select the area you wish to blur and then apply the motion blur filter.
Karl what did you use to make the buds explode upwards?
Ah well that's the secret :) You can watch the whole shoot from the link below the video.

Exact how many shots to get this result
I think we had about 20 attempts on the flying petals until there was one or two I was happy with.
Very interesting but far away for me as a hobby photographer to do this in a similar way, with no professional light and studio setup or staff.
