i got into zombies because it was so mysterious, now everything is just served on a plate , and instead of exploring yourself you get told to explore and what to explore.

@@Clooger- no I disagree. I actually thought BO4 zombies wasn’t as good as BO3, but was still a good experience. It was overhated and I don’t understand anyone who says BOCW is better than BO4 (for Zombies, for MP that is definitely true).
Something I dont understand is why they are changing a winning formula, its beyond me
Appeal to bad players
@@Dtitus25you mean more players, I remember hear that the amount of people that actually completed any of the bo3 Easter eggs was really low like 10% low.
Its primarly to applies to a larger player base. zombies makes up a small amount of players, while most just play multiplayer. multiplayer in fps/3person shooters, have taken an open world approach for the last several years (almost a decade now, pub-g and fortnight came out in 2017, 7 years now) and have taken over other game modes.
if you want the most players have open world maps in short. the original zombies formula doesn't take well to that. There is also a push for just making new things in each game. no one actually pushes for the same game with updated graphics every year, while COD can do this simply due to the fact you get all content re-shuffled (different maps/guns) and the player base moving on to avoid small lobbies.
Zombies desperately needs a stand alone game, that gets years of support, rather then tacked on at this point. look at something like r6 that doesn't need a new game every year. same formula while has gotten stale there, has worked for them since 2015. we don't see games get lifespans that long anymore.
cause they know if they don’t change others won’t like it feels like they’re reusing from past games which i felt some years

2 months late to respond, but yeah I agree, hell they sometimes took some stuff from MP and twisted it with a zombies theme, it made them look so good! BO3 for example, The Sword from Shadows Of Evil (The Blackmarket Weapon for MP) and The Ragnaroks (Ruins Spike Charges)

I remember back during summer of 2018 I didn’t even really know what hud even meant but I specifically remember seeing some leaked gameplay of black ops four zombies in genuinely hoping that it was fake. Like I just thought it looked so ugly. Back then I didn’t really know exactly what it was. That looks so ugly about it but now I know why. And I’m curious, did anybody else see any leaked gameplay of bo4 back then?
I didn't see it but I do remember hearing about it's existence and how bad the HUD looked
Yup I had the exact same reaction to seeing the leaked gameplay. I had hoped it was a special arcade mode or something
Yup saw leaked gameplay of Voyage and I thought it was fake
I seen leaked gameplay the day before and i was 100 percent postitive the hud was like that because the leaker was playing a dofferent mode like rush or somwthing sadly i was wrong
I wished it was fake. The screenshot of the first dog box room looked so bad.
Cold War zombies was literally multiplayer in zombies
Literally… Zombies, MP and Warzone had a threesome and somehow had a kid. That is Cold War Zombies.
Turn parts of the hud off then.
U can't@@Twistedslop62
No is wasn’t.
No it wasn't
A massive HUD takes away from the mystery and uniqueness of the mode. It feels rewarding to find stuff on your own and to memorize the layout without the game holding your hand.
I enjoyed ww2 HUD. pretty simple, while also hiding the actual hidden stuff though another layer. made easter eggs easier while still enjoyable.
I wish thay do it like survival horror games ( Resident evil, Alan Wake 2,Dead space) in these games the hud disappear if you stopped shooting or reloading it looks so clean
It was the same for bo1 after only just walking around the huddle would go away
And in dead space your equipment itself had info displays so you know your gun was almost empty or your health was low because of the bars. Of course it's a third person thing. For Cod they could've added a watch on your arm displaying health and armor. It's that easy and they ALREADY HAVE these watches tracking stats.
Most games should do that. If I’m not using my hud then I shouldn’t need to see it unless it’s a bullet count or mini map if mp.
For me the COD killer is COD themselves, warzone changed the game for the worst. They started putting all their effort in warzone, and now they don't even put effort in their games anymore. They need to stop experimenting with warzone aspects in zombies because its truly not working, not many people like it. All we want is a simple hud (NO WARZONE ASPECTS), simple round based, simple perks, simple story, simple characters (NO OPERATORS), and that's what made zombies work back then. And of course from the rumors of gulf war they are still keeping warzone aspects like seriously... Do we really need armor, no that's what jug is for. Do we need salvage parts to craft items, no. Do we need more salvage parts to upgrade our weapons rarity, no. Do we need to have different tiers for perks, no. I mean when will they ever learn is the question.
I miss WAW, BO1, and BO2 era zombies. I hope we get a COD Black Ops Remastered Collection one day. All games in one similar to Halo Master Chief Collection.
42:58 Lex talks about the dopamine and how BO1, BO2 and WAW all still have that juice and ability to bring satisfaction and that’s some mighty facts. Last night I played Shang and Die Rise, two of my favorite maps of all time simply for their complexity and the chaotic nature that doesn’t exist in zombies anymore and again, they provided me with a bigger satisfaction than Cold War ever did.
to me it comes down to the warzone influence, traditional core gameplay, and how lifeless each map feels.
Another thing too, about the zombies deteriorating, left 4 dead 2 had zombie’s arms flying off and chest’s exploding or heads popping off. Plus unique deaths depending on what gun and at what angle the zombie gets shot at
L4D2 was ahead of it's time it still holds up against alot of newer games
I just wanna see a red line in the bottom left, a blood smear above that with my points, and an ammo counter in the bottom right that disappears when I’m not shooting.
Honestly they should look at some custom zombie map makers work, and take notes on what they do to make that map good
That means listening and doing what people ask for and they won't ever do that. Alot of arrogance and ignorance with game devs.
Health bars on bosses is okay but not every individual zombie
I think one think I miss bout the old zombies is how they moved vs you as you were able to train them in way tighter areas than now and not get hit. It kinda feels like now ur always training in a big wasteland fighting zombies that move fast than u.
Kill feed and medals are so annoying in zombies
I hate all the menus in zombies especially. They break the immersion so much
I still dont get how they not see the love of a nearly 10 year old bo3 to this day and change completly everything. The custom maps still bang, its not even that we want something crazy just descent maps, good ee, and good gameplay, the foundation is literraly already build, of course change somethings for the better, but not everything people love.
I’ve literally never used the compass in any game ever
It would be nice to have the ability to toggle certain HUD features you’d like personally
Not gonna lie, never even knew the compass was ever in zombies that’s how useless it is
Can we address how ugly Cold War looks? Everything seems to blend into each other, you can hardly make out what’s going on
I've done directional callouts before, but thats just because the friend I was playing with is directionally challenged.
YES fuck coldwar hud too, all of the useless info and points and zombie healths too
This guy is actually spitting on me bro. I can feel it through the screen thats how hard he’s spitting.🤣🤣 nah but all jokes aside my main gripe was the lighting and character of each map. Since cold war everything has been grey colored and dull with no life. Bring back the individuality of maps and the personality. Great video though. I never realized how much the hud impacted gameplay until this video. Ive been secretly hating it without knowing lol
I wish the minimap only showed up when you called in the UAV like the old days
bro someone told me in zombies 'turn 105'
i said to him to turn the game off
Honestly old zombies just checked it all off the list man like you just can’t beat memories man
Who needs another zombie experience at all after bo3 , perfect zombies experience imo the hype , gobble gums new wonder weapons ultimate abilities , how do you top that honestly just can’t beat it goat :bo3
The problem is they keep trying to change the simple formula that made the game great at the start. HUD, perks, rounds, and pack a punch are prime examples
Exactly, innovate by adding mechanisms or more things on a map. Don’t change the foundation itself that people who played zombies enjoyed. Same argument for halo, why change the foundation when you could just add more sandbox mechanics like halo 2 did to 1 and halo 3 did to 2. Halo reach added sprint but it was a sandbox item, not an innate mechanic in the game that would radically change other parts of the game like halo 5 or 4. Halo infinite has sprint but it practically looses its function as it barely allows you to move faster than normal speed.
In zombies i don't want to feel like a soldier. I want to feel like a SURVIVOR that starts off with the bare minimum, and then start the climb in power
When I see damage point numbers pop up for zombies, it just reminds me of Borderlands
Cold War really was the best zombies experience of the modern CoD era (2019-present) and it’s the first one!
And all of them technically were made by Treyarch
@@mb__prod I wouldn't even say technically, they were all literally made by treyarch with treyarch literally deciding exactly how they wanted to make them

Good old times when we got Shadows of Evil and The Giant as release maps..
This is a great video and it's something I didn't ever think about but knew subconsciously. Zombies has suffered from that lack of immersion because of all the extreme sensory overload all over the screen and it just makes so much sense to minimize it.
Don’t even need to watch, before I comment.
1) Playable characters have no personality anymore.
2) weapon rarity upgrade system & multi-tier pack-a-punch system. (Not alternate ammo types, loved those in BO3. Who wants to pack 3 or more times to get max damage on weapons).
3) Re-used assets from MP (Characters & Map’s).
4) No round based maps.
5) bad wonder weapons.
6) Score streaks in zombies.
6) Spawning in with any weapon or equipment you want. (Was more fun and challenging to spawn in with shitty pistol that you could upgrade to something fun.
7) Armor system in zombies.
8) Map tells you what to do (Steps, EE steps, Objectives).
9) Open world zombies.
10) Infinite self revived (if found or purchased)
11) Buyable ammo for every weapon (Makes it too easy)
12) Zombies dropping equipment & Ammo.
13) Bad easter egg’s
14) Unlimited perk slots (More perks used to mean you were good/knowledgeable at the game. only easter egg’s and challenges used to give you more perks.
15) Mini-boss/in round boss spam
I could go on all night, but I don’t want to.
Finally, No great war map!
Bro, how could you say the Rai-K and the CRBRS were bad wonder weapons? Nearly all of the big channels that play zombies liked those wonder weapons so I don’t understand your point there
@@wandered_rogue22those are only 2 weapons from CW not even to mention Vanguard and MW3 zombies. Now I have no idea what’s in those games as I didn’t even bother touching them but he could very well be talking ab those
I don’t know… I actually enjoy Cold War (minus Outbreak and Onslaught) I thought the wonder weapons were unique and the UI was nice. I’ll always prefer B03 but still, I find myself playing Cold War
I don't mind the hitmarkers and I actually like the red ones signifying a kill, but the issue is that when you put points and massive text next to my reticle telling me I've gotten a kill, you're adding unnecessary clutter and you're making the red hit markers redundant in the process
I've just started play bo3 zombies again, doing a lvl 1 to prestige master, my god, I haven't had this much fun in a long long time playing video games. makes me sad i have to go back and play ds1, halo3, new Vegas for an enjoyable gaming experience that the devs actually cared about player enjoyability. The state of video games hurts my soul
Grouping Bo4 in with the games since is kind of wild to me. I understand when talking about HUDs since it is known for having a terrible one but I see all too often people group it in with this new era of CoD and that's just criminal to me.
Well id rather play bo4 again over vangaurd to be fair there is still some nostalgia in it.

Lex you need to boot up Smite and look at its HUD, the way you can drag every single element around and resize every part of it and place stuff wherever you want is insane. I wish zombies would allow us to do that if they are persistent on making bad HUDs
good news (:
In modern cod I cant f**ing see a thing while playing cause of the extreme shits that pop up to my screen
One of the most annoying things about post bo3 huds is the image of the gun. Why do I need an image of the gun? I can just look at the model or the name and see what I have. Thankfully Cold War didn't have that but it got brought back straight after
1 piece of the hud that I think is perfect is the round counter/round transition that came from BO3, I don't think you can beat that & im glad they continue to use it, I also dont mind the perks being bottom middle instead of bottom left. But something I don't get why we need is an icon of the gun model, just have the name of the weapon & the ammo, no need for an icon of it when I can see it in my hands or in the box
I agree the huds have been bad, however in Cold War you could turn off map, scores, and health bar if you want.
You cannot turn off the mini-map or the score pop-ups. You can only turn off the healthbars and damage point numbers
Plus These Huds like minimaps shouldn't even been in zombies to begin with

When you hold x to put your gun into pap
A/B/X/Y buttons appear each with their own option of alt ammo types.
Same size as the original “hold x to pap” option
That way you can keep it all confined to the pap machine and with no menu
One thing thats always been one of my biggest pet peeves in the recent games is the point system. Maybe it's bc that's what I was so use too and made the most since. Also it was actually helpful for every bullet to count as points. Oh,u have 5 bullets left but ur 30 points away from pack a punch well no problem just hit those five shots on one or even a group of zombies and boom. U have enough points wether u killed them or not. Apparently they took this feature out bc one of the devs or owners children's was essentially gettin bullied bc he wasn't getting enough points to help progress the match. Sad.
Enemy health bars do NOT belong in Zombies. Knowing the health of a zombie/boss removes all the tension from a fight.
Turn them off, that’s what I did when I played CW.
@@rexthewolf3149it be better and more atmospheric if they made the zombies become more damage when shot like left 4 dead games or the doom games. It provides necessary information, provides good feedback, and makes the game more atmospheric. Its a net positive.
I feel like the biggest reason it looks so similar to MP and Warzone is so that new players have an easier time understanding it and i can totally get the thought process for it because it's likely for accessibility (even then there's no reason they can't Zombiefy the HUD like how the Active Duty Slots on MWIII have a Zombie like look)
The issue is that and this might be a hot take but i find that kinda offensive tbh and before you ask "how could it be offensive?" let me explain.
If the reason really is to make it easier for MP or Warzone Guys to play Zombies and to make it accessible then that means they think the average CoD player is too dumb to understand a Zombies HUD so they have to make it like something they've already played.
I find it odd that they think a new player to Zombies likely won't understand what's on their screen if they're from MP or Warzone.
(I see accessibility got brought up later in the vid, i typed this like halfway through. lmfao)
Also CoD really needs the option Fortnite has which is being able to turn off nearly everything on the HUD and being able to resize the hud.
Alot of the HUD issues would be gone if you could just make it like 30% smaller or whatever you want.
RND base was just you running in a circle. How is that hard to understand?
Black Ops 4… in retrospect, was not as bad as we all made it seem to be. After the other games came out, I really appreciated going back to black ops 4 (after fully satisfying my spontaneous black ops 3 phase(s))
theres been many times where ive died when in the armor upgrade menus in cold war. Its just intrusive, Why cant i just hold down x or e to upgrade? why do i have to open a menu and click something????
One thing that has greatly improved in recent COD zombies is the audio. The sounds are significantly better. I played BO2 zombies yesterday and I could not even tell which direction the zombies were coming from...
Yes, it's very weird. Maybe the audio is screwed up since I'm playing on the Series X? I certainly remember the BO2 audio being great when I played it as a kid. When you’ve been playing for a long time you get used to zombies movements and spawning to the point would you even need audio
Yes, this is exactly why it's weird hearing the audio. I've been playing zombies for decades now and I'm very good at predicting where the zombies are located. I think the solution here is to have every HUD element have a selectable setting.
Maybe a good portion of the playerbase wants that much info, maybe a portion doesn't. Maybe those portions change over time as tastes change.
Empower the player. Make all HUD aspects selectable in settings.
Look at how colorful treyarch games are then how grey and dull sledgehammer is😂😂
I'm a huge XpertFusion fan!!! glad to see him getting recognition
29:08 😂 “TREYARCH!?”
BO3 had the best hud imo, the thing that annoyed me about BO2 was that after round 5 the tally marks would switch to generic font numbers but in BO3 the numbers too have a stylised font and so it fixes the style issue I had with BO2
If bo3 didn't have the chance to brick my computer when playing with my friends, I don't think I would touch cold war ever again
Hold up. I’m pretty sure this guy xpertfusion used to vehemently defend these changes & grill people for roasting the BO4 hud
If cod 2024 zombies has oporators we’re cooked
Bo1/2/3 done it spot on I don’t know why they thought they would change it and ruin what was so good about it
I personally loved the bo4 hud, I think the best way to fix this issue is to have personalized huds, because we all have different preferences and different play styles.
First thing I did was turn off damage numbers and kill feed. Instantly makes it a better experience
