I gotta be honest, if it’s uncontroversial to put JFK Nixon and Robert McNamara in BO1, then it shouldn’t be controversial to put Jonas Savimbi in BO2.
Also how the Japanese acted in WAW really seemed like complete bullshit, but that was the reality. They did anything they could, had no morals or rules.
I'm shocked they didn't talk about the Black Ops Pass in BO4. I heard that people were beyond pissed and Activision got into some serious heat when they announced that the Black Ops Pass was an all or nothing season pass
I remember Advanced Warfare for them adding a Gingerbread Cosmetic in the game and *_EVERYONE_* was shitting on it for being the worst thing ever to be added only for them to find out that it was a Make-a-Wish request from a kid (I forgot the name but his name was written in icing on the torso) and once people found out they went a 180 saying it was the best thing ever.
About the Germany Nazi thing: Because germany is in the middle of dozen countries most people bought their copy of cod from the country closest to them instead of buying it in from a german retailer
Lex speaking with passion on how WaW is the best WW2 just makes me happy I love WaW, also zombies being removed entirely just because it was called “Nazi Zombies” is wild and I feel like it’s why they rebranded to just zombies so fast I honestly feel like it was gonna stay Nazi Zombies for bo1.
Here’s the thing about the Savimbi thing, Activision and Blizzard are American, it’s in the US constitution that political figures are part of the public domain. BO2 did this exceptionally well I understand the family’s issue but I will say BO2 made me look him up and learn his story and from everything I found man was a good guy and is very respectable.
I’m from the uk but I used to live in Germany just after bo1 came out, I couldn’t buy any dlcs for the game on Xbox but I could on PlayStation, but yeah I remember asking my German friends to play zombies and there parents wouldn’t let them have the game and the fact it was called “Nazi zombies” was the reason
I think current events that we are currently living through are more real to us than something like WW2 or the holocaust. Imagine losing a friend to the London bombings or these other atrocities and now you see it your favorite game. It must be hard but I think at the end of the day all of this information needs to be displayed and showed to everyone even kids. The atrocities of war should be common knowledge.
i dont know what lex be talking about for 2005 but 2005 was still very big for games like just to name a few we got RE4, GoW, BF2, SWBF2005 [still regarded as one if not the best SWBF game], whether you like lego games or not there was also lego star wars which was very popular as well and the list goes on.
I really wish cod took a big step back and go back to games like bo2 or bo1 because those games were really good and we didn’t need any slide canceling or tac running just simple movement and the maps were extremely good and it would be nice if they brought back some old music to the newer maps instead of the same songs on all maps
Man the industry isn't what has changed, we as consumers have. If we could get up in arms back in the day for cinematic trailers not representing the game itself where's all that fight gone now it's the norm?
Ima be real, I still play the COD WW2 multiplayer and the loot box system is not bad in that game, infact I prefer the loot box system they had to the bundles in modern COD.
@@DatFatThor Yes, due to the fact that how ever unlikely I can earn some stuff for free, instead of having to shell out 1/4 of the cost of the game for a single gun and character skin.

I'd also like to point out that the Iron Cross used for modern cod nazis is still awarded by Germany and has been awarded since the Napoleonic wars and it's really not right to demonize another country's version of the medal of honor because of a 20 year horror show
I think it may have been BO4 but I think a few years after they kinda nailed the supply drop system since they allowed you to save your drops and just use 50 to buy a gun as well as giving you the chance to get the from drops

The truth hurts. People like to live in their bubble of happiness and they get offended so easily. But that’s just the unfortunate reality of war. And cod did an amazing job of portraying it back in the day. Now everyone is offended by everything and cod has become more pg than ever because of it. Ruins the fun and excitement
57:34 He seems to skip a massive piece where this included so many civilians outright in the attack and that the column included Kuwaiti hostages[10] and civilian refugees. The refugees were reported to have included women and children family members of pro-Iraqi, PLO-aligned Palestinian militants and Kuwaiti collaborators who had fled shortly before the returning Kuwaiti authorities pressured nearly 200,000 Palestinians to leave Kuwait. Activist and former United States Attorney General Ramsey Clark argued that these attacks violated the Third Geneva Convention, Common Article 3, which outlaws the killing of soldiers who "are out of combat."[11] Clark included it in his 1991 report WAR CRIMES: A Report on United States War Crimes Against Iraq to the Commission of Inquiry for the International War Crimes Tribunal.[12]
Ok no, I’m 2001 an indie Japan developer made a game based on Japan committing the worst human experimentation ever and he WON AWARDS FOR IT, WAW is just them being oversensitive
I actually really liked MW 2019 because they made the game to be a controversy, they didn't shy away from being crazy and didn't fully censor themselves for the sake of the media. For example, White Phosphorus is still used today and the rules states that chemical weapons main purpose cannot be used to inflict damage and pain, but Willie Pete's main purpose is a smoke screen and can cause pain. I enjoy when devs and games don't break and actually be themselves despite what others will say.
I think lex was harsh on COD4 Remastered, I thought it was great, not having all the maps on launch was disappointing but the game felt and looked so good, Benox and raven polished it so well. While I do agree having supply drops wasn’t great, I never really had an issue with getting the weapons or that I felt like I was getting destroyed by the ones only in drops. I mean the M40 and M16 were in the game, they already had broken weapons. Also it was such a breath of fresh air having boots on the ground fun multiplayer against the disappointment of multiplayer that was IW.
Unfortunately doing anything based off real events is way too controversial PR-wise, as someone who knows people who works in PR. Better to dodge that bullet entirely, no pun intended. And I don't think COD needs to base things off of IRL to make good campaigns.
I'm not sure if anyone has written about that already in this comment section, but in Russia the „No Russian“ mission in MW2 was simply removed from the game (and that's why story didn't make any sense at all lol) and there was a huge controversy about MW 2019, that resulted in renaming some of the stuff I believe, I'm not really sure
Funny enough, when I got to the “No Russian” mission at the age of 10-11, I loved it. Because previous to this mission, I had hit civilians on mistake and it would reset me to the previous checkpoint. And after a while I got fed up and I got this rage reliever. Good times.
It still amazes me how my morally high mom and my republican dad bought me a PS3 with MW2 after seeing all these articles and news headlines even went as far from changing channels when they were on there. GTA was banned in our house but MW2 kicked its way into the cracks and if not for that game I’d probably wouldn’t even be watching this channel.
With the whole highway of death thing from what I can find and remember they didn't porpusfully put the blame on Russia. They tought of a cool name but didn't check if it was used irl where it actually was a massacare by america and then ingame saying it was Russia so they basically just didn't resarch enough. Plus the whole time they tried to be like this game isn't political because in their oppinnion a game can only be political if it reenacts things 1 to 1 how they where but it was probably to cower their asses. Plus the whole thing about the russian army being portrayed as comically evil witch in earlier games where always splinter factions but now it was just the russian army. But I guess now with the Ukraine situation that is good or somthing.
As for the name thing, I have an alternate female character in COD Cold War... you see my first name is Wraith so hearing my name become a gender swapped character in Call of Duty makes me think "yay I got my own character in a COD game, thank you Activision, if this character returns in Call of Duty golf War except as a male, I would happily voice act as that character for the new COD game.
52:11 so having a white phosphorus killstreak falls under controversy, but it being used in real life VERY recently and in the open on the media (but depending who is using it) is totally fine. Wow the world that we live in... Edit: a little bit later discussing whether it's fine or not in the game. As a killstreak? No, it's representative of a war crime. In a campaign? If it was accurate to some historical moment or used by terrorists then maybe sure it would get a pass. Otherwise it's a horrible weapon it's like napalm or probably worse too.
