Another WAW controversy I remember is that some people in forums refused to play it because the historical footage cutscenes showed real death footage, calling it tasteless. You are given the option to disable this though.
Yeah very true perhaps and also don’t get me started on the fact that cod developers and publishers are trying their best to cover up serious issues of false advertising and character assassinations bo2 for example they marketed one of the levels cordis die with fake gameplay and the character gets killed off before the E3 demo level and they display a character in marketing promos magazines box art etc was supposed to be a iconic character like others in the mw trilogy especially the first black ops when in reality was a throwaway character that doesn’t have his own ending and was a literal dead weight for the rest of the game in other words cod developers and publisher used the character as a disposable tool to sell their game
I think a big reason Japan banned WaW is because, as far as my understanding goes, the government will not acknowledge its atrocities during that time, unlike germany has. So maybe a game that touches on that a bit would be too far

See I wouldn't say Germany owned up to it either. Both Germany and Japan banning content like this is effectively them trying to rewrite history/sweep their atrocities under the rug. Obviously this may not apply in the current year, but them banning that stuff still falls under an attempt to rewrite history in my opinion.

They really DGAF, PETA kill more animals in a single one of their shelters each year than my local pound did since it was first built in the 19th century and unlike PETA's shelter the council made it no kill over a decade ago.

I remember in vanguard the New Zealand people and government were mad at how they turned their national hero into an Australian as they said “At best, it’s ignorance; at worst, it’s a giant middle finger to us all."
I was Australian and seeing this made me have a eye sore and everything I’ve seen of what cod developers and publishers did and bo2s marketing and advertising was one of the reasons why I hate the franchise for what it has become since 2003

It’s like everybody who played call of duty has been plagued with some hidden disease that we can’t see anything wrong with those titles think about it the entire chain of command in each cod title is nonexistent because we played as characters who have the highest rank than others is there a lawsuit nope is there a reason why lower ranking characters kept outranking highest ranking characters why nope of course
Imo, if we’re talking about the multiplayer aspect, we are playing as operators but in reality we’re just killing each other for self satisfaction and activision do get away with that bcuz of the ranking and the introduction of the battle pass. It’s kinda the same way for Hollywood bcuz there are a lot of death and violence and the majority of the time the studios get away with it. But we don’t ever care bcuz we love seeing that stuff. The only way this would stop is if we don’t participate in those activities but yeah. There’s a lot of double standards in the call of duty games but anyway I’m on a tangent.

as good as Press F to pay respects was, I think X for Doubt was a way better meme. You still see F to this day used from time to time, but I see gif's of X Doubt fly around way more
Why did they do that is beyond me because I hated that press f for what it makes want to dance around the funeral like a jester and cheering up crying people and that’s exactly what I do in advanced warfare dance and hop around like a jester
F is spammed everywhere by default whenever someone passes, especially in text only channels such as a youtube comments section. You've likely gotten so used to it that it no longer seems as novel as the LA Noire gif by this point.

I think there was something missed. In MW2 the ACR actually has Remington on it as well, Magnum Research was on the .357.

You missed the ball on BO3's supply drops. The controversy wasnt that the game HAD supply drops, the controversy was they PROMISED US ALL that they wouldnt add anything other than cosmetics to them. The added melee weapons and argued that they were just skins and promised us A SECOND TIME!- that they would not add none cosmetic items to Supply Drops. Only to add EVERY SINGLE NEW WEAPON to supply drops!!
Yep like the M14 was strictly lootbox, I grinded those damn things hard due to it being a FOMO stunt, I had like 6 rather specific guns that should not have been there especially since they had rather specific traits that were rather P2W ie the R70 AjaxLMG never needed a reload just a slow process to fully print ammo which could actually be ridiculously OP in actual play since you didn't need to chase reloads just switch weapons and it'd be full in about 10-15 seconds.

@@usadroopymeat1099 the M14 had something like two one month appearances in the lootboxes over the active lifetime of BO3. I got it during the first, but yeah the FOMO they pulled on folks that really wanted specific guns was real and the M14's always had a weird group of us that really enjoy it whenever we get the chance to get it. I don't recall if I bought any but I definitely grinded all my freebie black market drops which if you've played as long as I have you know how often that crap breaks to this day (still hearing beef about that though I dropped out after MW19).
@@cericat the m14 is one of my favourite weapons a battle rifle that fires full auto burst auto or the classic semi auto it does have high recoil sure but maybe give it some fitness and you might master it along with the enhanced battle rifle model and it’s interesting that it’s almost the same as the m1 garand with the clip at the bottom

I appreciate you mentioning the difference in opinions of civilians and military members/ veterans. Civilians are always so shocked out horrible or fucked things are and for most of us it’s just another day.
The thing is that telling the story from the Axis' point of view would have to be one where you would need to do something similar like BFV did with The Last Tiger.
BFV was a pile of poop campaign wise, but THAT mission made you empathize with the Germans.
Most of the sstuff here is obvious talking points (like the no russian mission) or silly stuff (like the grenades acronym having an offensive insult) but the "What the united states government has not achieved in more than 50 years, it now intends to achieve virtually" is such a great criticism actually lol
One thing worth mentioning about Black Ops 4 is that during the marketing, they had initially said that weapons would not be behind supply drops and instead would work on a battle pass system dubbed “the Black Ops Pass”. However, after a season ended, there was no way for new comers to obtain the weapons from previous seasons except for a supply drop system. They added in the ability to save up supply boxes to exchange them for weapons eventually, but it was only when the next CoD title was released, and a majority of the fan base moved on.

Hey Elijah, you like Call of Duty: World at War, right? My best friend irl Backbonedsmile was #1 in the world in every category under the "War" game type. Kills, wins everything. He was #4 in the world in overall kills. I used to run with him and his squad of 6. We were in constant battle with the #2 guy (Biggace) so Travis (Backbonedsmile) could keep his #1 spot. I was like a year behind them, so i never personally got top ranked but i got good. If you remember, the War game type was like "Territories". So you just hold 2 of the 3 spots and spawn kill the shit out of the enemy team. For the entire time clock. Our entire squad of 6 would be over 100 kills. Every single game. It was fun dude. Before modded leaderboards. Then the modding came and then black ops came out so the game became dead. RIP
