IIRC for one year they had something playing at the drive in theater on the map during regular play. And players could throw tomatoes at the screen or something.
I still remember that video PlayStation made called "How to borrow games from your friend on PS4" and it was just two Sony employees in an office and one of them said "Hey can I borrow this video game" and the other was like "yeah sure". 15 second video. Crushing blow against Xbox.

The "Praystation" is hilarious
Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is so iconic with how hated it was. The game wasn't terrible, just that it was not what CoD players wanted. We at least got boots on the ground afterwards and never got another advanced movement CoD after that huge outrage by fans.

The Infinite Warfare trailer was downvoted so hard because the franchise was stagnating, but way more than that, they showed a remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but revealed you could only get it with a special bundle of Infinite Warfare. That pissed people off to no end. Not mentioning that is a disservice to the story.
They said that they’d never sell the remaster separately then they did exactly that. I hate that I fell for that 🙁

Nintendo's biggest PR disaster has to be their constant abuse of copyright strikes. While admittedly, many people did have it coming (the guy who made that mod for Palworld that turns it into Pokemon did get donations from the community, which technically means he was making money off an IP without Nintendo's consent), most of the time it's completely uncalled for. Like when asked why AM2R was taken down, Reggie responded with saying it was a "commercial product" despite no evidence supporting said claims (Samus Returns being an official remake being the only reason I can think of, but it's not like people weren't gonna buy that after playing AM2R), and another example is last year, they threatened to shut down a Smash Ultimate tournament for disabled people for using third-party controllers. Not only isn't the use of third-party devices for first-party systems perfectly legal since they all have Bluetooth built in as standard, but it's even more jarring because Nintendo doesn't make any first-party controllers for the disabled and yet have the audacity to go overboard over something they know full well is even worse for PR. If any of the participants were children, it makes it even more of a disaster since Nintendo puts great emphasis on making games specifically for children. Thankfully in this case, the only thing stronger than Japanese copyright lawyers is Norwegian lawmakers.
The biggest difference is that Nintendo didn't suffer any sales or anything from it, except from online folks from social media which wasn't enough.
Nintendo is the only company that treats their employees with care while they treat their fan base with crap.
I wish it was the other way around.

I've heard that Epic's contract with DC prevented the whip emote from being disabled, which just raises a whole bunch of questions, such as "Did Epic seriously not talk to DC and tell them how bad this would make them look?" Then again, knowing DC, they probably wouldn't care.
I remember there was a controversy for Burnout where they would pay peoples speeding tickets and encouraged it

Regarding the Halo community manager blaming the Ukraine war for not responding, the other crazy part of that was that guy's side account (which was linked to in his community manager account) was posting all weekend about crypto stuff and clearly he was focusing on his personal stuff.
When people saw him posting about crypto all weekend, then blamed the war for being distracted, it was way obvious. That stuff got hidden immediately and he was moved elsewhere in 343, but it was wild

To keep its M rating, whenever Frank kills an enemy, the screen turns black and white so the game doesn’t show too much blood or gore. That’s just one example.
Yo… mercenaries 2 was pretty basic as a game but as a kid them animations of pulling people out the vehicles and stuff definitely felt badass.

Regarding the Fortnite scandal, I used to work for Epic at the time when that happened. I was a technical support.
First of all, I laughed so hard when the kids found the exploit for the emote of the whip. But this was because of the legal agreement of DC and Epic. Basically other companies "rent" their IPs to Epic/ .
This means that in all times of the game, the linseed stuff cannot be disabled. It was so absurd and I still laugh to this day

Brass knuckles are legal in many states here in the US. Though sometimes they're only legal by default and a few county or city ordinances forbid them within their borders. Same with butterfly knives.

What's sad is it's not really a backwards compatibility issue; I mean it is, but not a technical one. It's a legal one. Apparently the license for Mercenaries 2 is so up in the air that no one can legally purchase and play it anymore.

Huh? No it did not nearly kill off playstation lol. While yes. The sales of early PS3 models were terrible. that's because they sold them for $500 in 2007!
@@Unlucky1776 Yes, which is why I said “nearly”. I was a PS3 user and only tried out 360 towards the end of that generation’s era, the 360 blew PS3 out of the water. Compared to the commercial successes of PS1 and PS2, the Xbox very nearly took the mantle from PS. One can only wonder what would happen to the PS IP if a repeat happened with the Xbox One and PS4. As we know, Sony has a habit of very quickly discontinuing its products so it’s entirely possible.

Yes, Playstation absolutely tanked the console war of that generation and “NEARLY” killed off the console (I never said they did). We have seen how easily Sony gives up on its products, so had Sony stayed consistent with that ‘cash out quick’ model, we very possible could have seen the plug pulled on the PlayStation IP had the Xbox One premier campaign been another home run. Sony’s determination to claw the PS3 through the mud really got us to where we are now and I wish they put this much support into everything they make.

The podcast section is fun, reminds me of some old shows on RUclips where each person learns about a topic and then explains and talks about it, so you still get all the information, but the other person not knowing as much leads to a more conversational style with banter.

Homefront deserved a greenlight. It was a great game. Just needed more funding. Also sucks that they swapped the enemy to NK. Could have just left it vague, but there is only one credible threat militarily to the US. Narratively, it HAD to be China. Not saying China would, just that they are the only ones who can.

In regards to the MLK event, I think Epic was contractually obligated to keep the DC emotes regardless of event. Otherwise, I can’t imagine Catwoman’s emote being allowed.
Another game that had disastrous marketing was Rule of Rose. They tried to go with controversy-based marketing by getting a publicist to make reports that heavily exaggerated or fabricated aspects of the game that could be seen as problematic, most notable being the erroneous claim that the game shows sexual content involving underage characters. This not only caused the game to get banned in several countries but also caused it to bomb in the countries that did get a release, causing the studio that developed it to shut down.
Manhunt 1/2 is still banned here in New Zealand. You get a $20.000 fine if caught with it. I’ve still not played it but watched videos on RUclips. Things I’ll do for a complete copy of them two for my collection 😢

There was this marketing thing in the UK, involving the game Burnout 2 where any speeding tickets would be paid for by the developers, think it's quite obvious what happened.
Idk Xbox maybe pushed to hard with the console being an entertainment system but really that’s what consoles have become, I use my Xbox most days to just watch tv and chat with friends that I don’t get to see as much as I like.
1. Esio is a character in AC: Origins - a small child which the player meets during "The Flea of Cyrene" quest and later, grown up, in The Curse of the Pharaohs DLC. So not entirely wrong :)

22:50 So, idk if you want an update to this, but there was an anncouncement this past week that the old Battlefront games from Pandemic, the classic ones from 2004, 2005, are getting new versions on all modern systems; Steam, Xbox Seres/One, PS4/5, and even the Switch, with multiplayer revived with up to 64 players!! Look this up I really do think more people should know about that, very exciting!
EA should have done what a lot of brass knuckle manufacturers do and put a threaded removable brass pin in it so it sits at a slight angle when placed on a desk and you can then say it is a paper weight 😂When I was a teenager I went through a phase of buying different gadgets and gizmos from China and all the brass knuckle listings had those little pins on them and my friend from school had a pair and his had the removable pin too. I thought I should mention he didn't bring them to school, he showed them to me when I went to his house.

I certainly enjoyed playing Dante's Inferno, in fact i completed the game in Inferno difficulty and liked the ending even though there wasnt a sequel to it but ended nicely. When i first played it and got to the second ring: Lust and heard the moans, i immediately muted the volume because my parents thought i was watching something i wasnt supposed to but i ended up completing the level and went to Gluttony. But I suppose Dante's Inferno must've made Catholics mad because of how the game was depicting hell i suppose or maybe because of Lucifer.

It's not free gas but every once in a while where I live Sheetz will have gas for 99 cents a gallon and it's crazy how busy it gets. Idk if they do it everywhere but i live in a pretty small town/area and it gets like he was saying so I could imagine in what free gas would be like in big ass city like London.
