3:20 To think that Thanos deliberately put the collector there clapping and shouting magnificent haha...
Thanos may be flawed, but he does have a sense of respect and humour.
Not sure how much of the specific detail of the illusions Thanos controls. I think he can just animate an illusion of the collector that would just behave how the collector would
@@williamsomerton7786 it gives absolute control over the fabric of reality itself, and Thanos being highly intelligent, it's possible he made all of that happen himself (plus to have his fake collector act the way thanos remembers would require the mind stone which we don't see being used..)
There’s so many jokes in this scene, right up to the bubbles, but dang Quill literally made good on his promise to kill Gamora here, the love of his life. All the mental effort and it’s for nothing in the end, literally played for a joke. It’s quite chilling. It’s one of my favourite scenes in infinity war
The bubbles and string were callbacks to thanos doing that in the comics
Yeah, he literally broke Quill's spirit.
Then for some reason he attacks Thanos when they've seemingly already won, making her death be in vain. So inconsistent 😢. Love this scene tho.
@@keith3915 i agree ... even after he prevented drax from doimg something similar in this scene in the name of strategy
@@keith3915 It's not inconsistent, he literally does the same thing when Ego reveals he killed Peter's mother. His rage and sorrow were shown to control him then, too, and cause him to lash out, just as he did to Thanos when he learned of Gamora's death.

When Quill silently yells “Drax waaaaiiittt” has me rolling every time
4:45 the "Dad" testing the boyfriend, adorable moment 🤣
It's interesting, Quill ruined the fight later against Thanos for the gauntlet out of rage, but was also willing to put Gamora down for the sake of the universe, good range of character.
Thanos is probably disappointed with Peter after that
Gamora was stupid enough to go to Thanos, risking half of all life, and then Peter was stupid enough to ruin their chance at the gauntlet, dooming half of all life. They were a match made in heaven until she fell to the death she brought upon herself.
Thanos testing Peter to see if he'd keep his word to Gamora is a nice touch though, since Thanos kept his word when he gave it to get the 3 stones he gave it for. He spared Thor for the Space Stone, Nebula for the Soul Stone, and Tony for the Time Stone.
@@LucianDevine Thanos didn't exactly spare Thor though, he blasted that ship and left him to die. It was a miracle that Thor didn't die in space and kinda fortunate the Guardians found and revived him.
@@swaminathanmanikandan255 Left him to die? As an Asgardian he doesn't need to eat or drink to survive. This is true even in the MCU, not just comics.

In tears, it seems a little out of character xD
Thanos genuinely meant it when he said he liked Quill. Seeing him actually having the balls ti pull the trigger.
Same thing with Wanda, that had to destroy the mind stone, by taking vision's life as well.
Quill knows earth references he couldn't possibly have known, he left earth very young
He definitely wouldn't know what a bowflex is.
What else?
Nope, Marvel got it right.
Quill left Earth in 1988. Bowflex was 1986, Grimace 1971. His mix tape was all songs earlier than his departure.
@@kalfive6398 cool.
I always thought that bowflex was specifically a 2004 to 2006 trend
@@kalfive6398 tbh, the MCU really did good at that. They probably had a list of things he could/couldn't reference and implemented some he could do into every script he was in

I swear Thanos has a thing for bubbles

I never thought Gamora would waste tears on Thanos.
Well I'm one year late but she's been his daughter since childhood and loyal to him for decades till she joined the Guardians
@@easy_eight2810that guy is probably dead by now after a year. And u are probably dead after a month
He was good to her
emotional connections is inevitable for someone that raised you.
"They're not for him"
One of my favourite scenes in the entire movie.
He was willing to kill her to honor her wishes and save the universe. Makes no sense he would suddenly lose sight of that and pistol whip Thanos, which would seemingly be much less satisfying than defeating him, probably not even hurt too terribly much, and not to mention make Gamora's death be in total vain.
And let's not forget how absolutely stupid of Gamora it is to go to Thanos in the first damn place when she's the only one who knows where the Soul Stone is. If she hides out on an unknown world with Peter, the odds of Thanos finding them are literally astronomical, even with the Space Stone.
James Gunn openly hated that scene.
Has anyone ever noticed that Thanos' preferred type of "reality" is always REALLY melodramatic? Thanos is a drama queen at heart.
let her go grimace got me rolling on the floor
🤣 🤣
I remember the anxiety of waiting for this movie to come out, it was crazy. This specific scene got leaked somewhere before Infinity War came out and everyone went crazy about it 😂
I laughed when Mantis put Drax to sleep.
1:05 + 1:10 + 4:08 these have got to be the most realistic shots of Thanos. They're super close on the uncanny valley scale. If you're quick enough with 1:10 and pause just as the beam of light runs over Thanos' face you can see even more detail.
The others are:
- At the end of Infinity War during the scene when Thor impales Thanos before the snap. It's a fantastically detailed close-up where all the tiny pores, wrinkles, follicles and general skin texture can be seen.
- In Endgame when Thanos gives the "you could not live with your own failure" speech.
All other appearances seem more obvious in their CGI (though still pretty great).
6:18 when you finally meet her dad
I love when he smiles at Drax then turns him into blocks
People were cheering when Gamora killed a fake Thanos.

If Thanos can turn these characters into pieces not sure why he didn't use this ability in the other scenes where he was fighting the Avengers, it would make the movie less entertaining to see the Avengers don't have a chance at all if Thanos uses that same ability.
Tbh nothing really makes sense if you think about this movie too much
LOOOOOL for real@@geometrydashiuppiter6910
thanos probably just wanted to play with all his stones since he had an overwhelming advantage anyways
He didn't get the Reality Stone until now. After this he gets the Soul Stone. Then he goes to fight Dr. Strange, during which he can't use his powers as much or as freely because they prevent him from closing his fist as much as possible, which is apparently necessary.
Using the stones also takes a VERY slight toll on even his body, which is part of why Endgame Thanos is stronger than Infinity War Thanos. You'll note though, that once he gets 5 stones and has Vision in his sights he goes ham with the stones, because he knows he doesn't need to hold back anymore.
@@geometrydashiuppiter6910 More like this movie is too complex for your pea brain to understand
I wonder if Thanos killed everyone in Knowhere before ripping apart the Collector's emporium to get the Reality Stone.
Magnificent, magnificent, magnificent!
I love I love that in the script they had 'quill can't bring himself to pull the trigger and the actor who plays starlord was like no quill would absolutely pull the trigger'
“Nutsack of a chin..”😂😂😂😂
Great scene
Not talked about enough, but I love 4:08 so much. The way the stone sounds, with the music change in the background, with the iconic "reality can be whatever I want," it was beautiful.
They should've known that Thanos was waiting for them.
They definitely knew it was a possibility but they underestimated how powerful the Reality Stone is
It's not a trap if you're expecting a trap.
Then it's a standoff.
So Gamora already knew who Thanos gonna sacrifice to obtain the soul stone..
You can see it in her face when Thor said he dont know where the stone is..
That's why off cam he told Quill to kill her instead of Thanos cause soul stone is his next objective..
Zoe Saldana's acting here is beyond anything. The way she says: "I love you more than anything" can melt a stone.

It makes no sense that the effects of the Reality Stone are temporary illusions. And I'm not just talking about Thanos using it to temporairly alter the environment but also about the damage he does to the Guardians too. Drax and Mantis go back to life when he leaves... why? Why would Thanos keep any of them alive? Quill maybe, out of some sadistic pleasure, but some random guys that tried to attack him? Thanos would just kill. Makes no sense. The Reality stone is a mess in Infinity War. First we learn that it's unique because it's the only one of the six primal powers that isn't a stone in the Dark World. Then, it suddenly is a stone, and we never learn how does Thanos in Knowhere, or Rocket in Endgame, re-make it INTO a stone from the goo that it is. Secondly, it was alwys portrayed as this force of destruction that turns everything into the dark version of itself. And that its destructive power manifests in beams of darkness that wreck and absorb anything in sight. But here, it's making those red-powder illusions that seem completely un-real and always temporary, which is ironic giving the name of the stone. And last but not least, every stone was supposed to be impossible to wield for different reason. Power Stone would explode those that touch it. Tesseract would teleport someone randomly across cosmos like it did with the Red Skull. Reality Stone was supposed to be tricky to wield because it corrupts the user like a parasite. But that's all gone now too, and we never learn how Thanos handled that. It's completely disappointing because the whole point of MCU being a cinematic universe was supposed to be the fact that the stories are connected. Except, they aren't at all, if an infinity stone can be completely and utterly rebooted in between movies. If that's how they handle their stories, why would anyone bother watching the end credit scenes for what comes up next? Why would anybody bother to watch any previous movies before watching the next one? I'm not saying Infinity War is a bad movie. In itself, it's pretty good. But as a part of the MCU, it's absolutely pointless.
I think you are right about the way they handled the stones. But about Thanos : He doesnt kill randomly. He is focused only on the Snap. The only reason he actually was willing to kill Tony, is because he knew, Tony could defeat his plan. Thats why he doesnt kill randomly and without reason
To support the above statement, I believe this version of thanos would not kill you even if you walk by him. Unless you want to stop his plan. So thats maybe why the illusion is temporary
Thanos is not killing without reason, he has complete confidence and is also just playing with the stone he aquired, testing its powers if you will.
On another subject my dude, James Gunn, wrote the infinity stones in one and a half hour, it looks like you have overthunk this more than the actual director, just chill, you ll never enjoy anything in life if you nitpick things that much.
Agreed, reality stone is my favorite. I really love how infinite potential this stone has. You could literally create another dimension and trap avengers inside. The reason effects are temporary and his general powers are shown as "powerful but not that much" is because directors and script writers made Thanos as weak as possible. I love the fact that the leader of the dark elves (Malekith) had a plan to literally devour a whole world or dimension(s) and connect them to the dark world. I'd say that just with that stone, Thanos was almost omnipotent; he could literally shift reality to the extreme edges; he could take powers from any magic user, like Wanda, for example, and use them against the whole Avengers.
To me it seems the reality stone alone just changes the state of all particles but they just revert back to their original state once the reality stone is out of reach. Like the reality stone just powers that altered reality. So that’s not an illusion, it just appears as one.
she grew up knowing thanos and she believed she actually managed to kill him?
It was a desperate attempt
1:56 I'm sorry, but why did they add this. It is clearly just for humor and it kind of just ruins the moment.
benicio del toro is so wasted in the mcu. he couldve played a cold menacing character, like he played alejandro in sicario, instead he became a bumbling weirdo
Infinity wars was excellent but endgame ruined it. If you follow the logic of endgame then infinity wars never happened
