      Southpaws are not the most notorious defenders hahahaha. I didn't do aswell against other southpaws, coz I'm not used to defending left, usually I can just pivot counter clockwise as I circle right against orthodox fighters so I don't have to defend left it's out of range.

    I´m Panamanian and a boxing fan, be southpaw is one of the hardest things in my country, because all the trainers manages a old school Orthodox boxing style and see Southpaws like a difficult challenge without gains. But you teach me with this videos how can i box without abandoning my natural posture and this is awesome, thank you for make this video, i'm very grateful.

    When you block right cross do you stick your left hand to your forehead? Otherwise when I get punched hard, my gloves hit my head back :) And if i stick my hands to my forehead. It doesnt hurt but if your opponent is a hard puncher, it can still shake you. Do you stick your hands to your face or ear(hook blocks) when you block or there is always some distance?

    Hey, advice from the internet stranger 😂 take it or leave it. 1) add movement with the blocks over time. Preferably away from the rear hand for us weirdos hands. 2) make sure your feet are planted and you’re not moving when you get hit. Trust me we’ve all made this one. 3) follow Coach Pullman ✌️

    GREAT VIDEOS. May i ask u some questions?
    Im a begginer and southpaw. when I throw lead left, should I lean my head and body right side? or not?
    I watched pacman leaning head right side when he throwed lead left.

      Hey thank you so much for your feedback, we are so glad you enjoyed the video!
      Every circumstance is different but it’s a good tactic to lean your head to the right but you don’t want to do the same thing every time though.
      We will be releasing more southpaw content so let us know what else you would like to see. Best of luck!

    • @filthyan1mal588

      Orthodox vs southpaw sometimes gets into a jab off coz both are trying to move to your right for outside foot, so left lead shifting head right is cool, but if it gets too predictable. You can do what prince Ahmed did and push slightly left, leading right jabs and right crosses to his right guard and you circle left, makes him have to use both of his hands for guard, gives some openings for body right hooks, and to step in to the right as you left hook/overhand by time it lands you wanna be right up against his leading left as you pivot circle right out of his rights range, for when they are used to the standard southpaws defence

    why do you need to block straight right with back of glove? why cant you to the same defensive move to block right hand that you do for blocking jab?

    • @PullmansGym
      @PullmansGym  2 года назад

      Hi and thank you for your question!
      There's a time and place for everything. This defense here is the most basic and safest way of defending these punches, although there are other ways of defending them. Are you asking to block the straight right hand with your right hand? Or are you asking to block the straight right hand with your left but in the same style as blocking the jab? If you can clarify exactly what you mean we will do our best to answer your question. Thanks!

    I got a question I’m hoping someone can help me with, I just started boxing not too long ago and I am left handed. But I sometimes feel Awkward moving south paw. When I switch stances it feel slightly better moving, but throwing my right feels awkward. So, do I just need to keep practicing southpaw? Or switch stances? Thanks in advance!

    • @PullmansGym
      @PullmansGym  2 года назад

      Hello and thanks for your question! To be 100% honest, it is very hard for me to answer this question without actually working with you and seeing you train. That would be my best way to fully assess you and give you the best advice. To give you some general feedback, it sounds like you need to keep training and trying out both sides to see which is the best fit for you. You can try your right handed stance and really work on developing the straight right hand and see if that feels better for you. I think the more you train, the more you will settle in to the stance that feels best for you. Find the one that feels right and stick to it and continue to train at it. The key is training hard.

  • @heavymetalnewsdesk
    @heavymetalnewsdesk 7 месяцев назад

    1:29 you lost me with the blocking jabs with the lead hand as a southpaw. that's not the way to deal with the jab from someone who's fighting orthodox, and makes for a really boring fight. You're essentially taking away a southpaws most potentially devastating attack if you teach someone who's southpaw to defend in this manner against an orthodox fighter. Pefect southpaw defense against orthodox is also a perfect southpaw offense, it's a slip, not a catch or a block. Slip right, right hook. Do it seamlessly and they'll never know what happened. Left hook from right hander : Slip right, left to the body, right hook. If you're blocking punches, you're still getting hit. It's better to take the full hit to land your own hit, or slip it, or parry it. 11:01 leaving himself wide open for a straight left hand

  • @StanleyKubick1
    @StanleyKubick1 2 года назад

    Southpaws just mirror ortho when training in a closed stance, no reason to make left-vs-left videos. And preventable background noise on set when shooting is very annoying to listen to
