I’ve been looking for videos like this for the longest u know how hard it is to find demonstrations for southpaws I’m a southpaw an most videos I try to find be orthodox but I feel like as a southpaw u can’t do the same as orthodox cause if different angles an position your videos be helping me a lot keep it up I’ll be looking forward to more of your southpaw videos to help me improve myself
Hey, advice from the internet stranger 😂 take it or leave it. 1) add movement with the blocks over time. Preferably away from the rear hand for us weirdos hands. 2) make sure your feet are planted and you’re not moving when you get hit. Trust me we’ve all made this one. 3) follow Coach Pullman ✌️

This is so incredibly helpful. I've been trying to slip and roll everything, but my main sparring partner has figured it out and baited me to walk into punches as a result. Focusing a bit more on blocking makes a lot of sense now.

how to counter the step back hook?
Amazing videos. Thank you. When you block right cross do you stick your left hand to your forehead? Otherwise when I get punched hard, my gloves hit my head back :) And if i stick my hands to my forehead. It doesnt hurt but if your opponent is a hard puncher, it can still shake you. Do you stick your hands to your face or ear(hook blocks) when you block or there is always some distance?
The small footwork is not talked about enough-that pull in between the body shots is a minorMAJOR
I am no pro and I am left handed. so fighting southpaw stance my right hook feels more natural and I feel more stability throwing it than throwing with my left hand which would be what this guy is doing just opposite. That punch feels unstable for me with the stance.

I'm glad you said how hard that side to side technique is to do at first! I thought I was doing something wrong! It's just hard! I'll get it tho. This was a good tutorial. Jumping with the rope on one side will help a lot. That timing is very different than both feet. I'm a musician and the sound is where I focus. Very different rhythm to the side to side technique. Great video as always. A suggestion from me regarding the camerawork: There is no need to zoom in on the upper or lower body. 100% of the fighter should be visible at all times (except for the speedbag section). Anyway, thanks for your good work

I find rolling while training weird because the coach never tries to hit the person like they would in a real sparring match. They always go slightly over the head… the amount of times Ive had to tell someone to actually try to hit me
