@@expertboxing i have a question. Is it better to stand sideways showing only one side of your torso or stand like how you did? I personally like to tuck my chin into my shoulder
So I'm a lefty but when it comes to baseball and boxing my left foot being lead feels better in the front. But I also unkownly switch stances a lot. All ik is I have a powerful jab and the lose straight right surprises me every time when i let it go. It's only useful in fighting and THATS it.
Same tho and I don't know why, my coach tell me that I should stop switching stance in sparring but I feel like I am comfortable switching stance and also I can throw a proper punch on either a southpaw or orthodox stance.
I'm a predominantly right hander i do everything with my right hand but for some reason I natural go into southpaw stance an its comfortable asf i actually get better results southpaw fighting orthodox for me is uncomfortable
If you’re a new fighter, putting the right front feels good because you’re still a one-armed fighter. Once you have 2 good arms, you may prefer your dominant hand in the back. But hey, keep doing whatever you want. As long as you’re winning, no one can say you’re wrong.
It could also be a liability if your rear hand is not as dominant as your lead, for eg: if you’re a right handed south paw you may be inclined to throw jabs with the right alot especially if your rear isn’t packing enough power to hurt your opponent, so it’s not about feeling comfortable it’s about commitment you’d need to be able revert your dominance from your right hand to your left to be efficient enough in this boxing world and I.e being south paw doesn’t give you an automatic advantage over any opponents it’s not about your stance or your own comfort it’s all about technique.
probably has to do with leg dominance... we tend to only focus on arm dominance but we also have a dominant leg and your stance might favor pushing off your dominant leg.
I'm left handed through and through a gun is the only thing I use from the right. I do that so shells don't kick me in the neck or face. I jab with my right and also use my right as a measuring stick. I could never imagine getting off a quick left handed jab. I keep my left drawn back so far that if I ever tried to jab with it anyone could see it coming a year away.
Also want to add I could never in my life imagine trying to fight from orthodox I can't torque as much power out my torso and hips drawn back with my right. I no nothing about boxing but figured that another reason you didn't really mention for having left foot and arm drawn back for left handers is because of weight behind your hit. You can literally throw your body weight into a hit but you better connect or you're exposed to the whole world and then some.
The more your left sucks, the more it belongs in front. If your left isn't fast enough to jab, it definitely won't be fast enough as a rear cross. You shouldn't be "throwing" your weight into any shot, to the point that you risk being countered. If you don't know boxing, go to a gym and let a coach correct you instead of you trying to correct yourself with self-made theories.
I’m left handed but for some reason I feel comfortable standing like a righty when I fight . A lot of people I had fought threw out the hears I had always knockout with my strong left hand jab . Is that normal ?
@@raptorfn7875 Waow I thought I was the only one 😆it has work for me from the past experiences times I had fought in the streets. How do u throw them hands when u fight ?
It’s normal for beginners to put the strong hand in front because they’re still one-armed fighters. When you’re a 1-arm fighter, you have no skills or experience and leave your dominant arm in front where it has a better chance of scoring. But once you have two well-trained arms, you realize the front arm is better for weaker “setup” punches with the weak arm and the back arm is better for stronger “knockout” punches with the strong arm. Listen to your goddamn coach.
I am left footed but right handed, I have practiced kickboxing in orthodox before but I think southpaw suits better as I would have a precise jabs with my right and a tank of a leg at the back. I need practice tho, I don’t have good balance or movement in southpaw

Pushing people to make them off balance might be illegal in the amateurs. In pro boxing, it's a good tactic you do it when you're posting your jab. It's good against primarily power punchers as it throws their momentum off, and they can't sit down on punches.
