    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  2 года назад +1

      Yes absolutely. Make sure you're running the latest firmware because they added a "Mute Microphone" capability on the Packtalk. If you tap the Intercom and Media buttons at the same time, it will mute the mic. You'll still be able to listen to the group chat but they won't hear anything you're saying (because your mic is muted). To unmute the mic and rejoin the conversation, just tap those same two buttons again. Works great. 👍

    I have the CARDO Paktalk Bold Duo setup between mine and my wife's helmets. We generally are generally listening to music (SirusXM) but, not sure how or what we need to do to to start an intercom conversation between the CARDO's. Is there a Voice activated feature so that when we want to chat we just start talking, muting the music, and when the conversation is over the music automatically returns until the next VOC conversation starts?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  4 года назад

      If you're using your Packtalks in "Bluetooth Intercom Mode": Use the voice command "Hey Cardo, Call Intercom"...that will start the intercom between you and the wife. To go back to your music, either of you can tab the Intercom button one time OR just wait for the intercom to time-out (I think 30 seconds of no talking).
      If using in "DMC Intercom Mode": Just talk! Music will auto-dim to the background when either of you talks and go back up when you stop talking. Only thing about DMC Intercom Mode (as of this post) is that you can't share music so you'll each have to have your own music source. I"M TOLD THIS WILL CHANGE WITH A FUTURE SOFTWARE UPDATE...at which point just use DMC Mode and never go back to Bluetooth Intercom Mode. Sorry for the long answer but hope it makes sense!

    great videos. Maybe you can help me with a problem I'm having since I bought the pactalk bold. When my wife rides she likes to listen to her own music. She gets all my wind noise and it changes the volume of her music and very annoying. So we don't use it. On my Sena we used the feature of no communication until we pushed the button, then pushed it to turn it off. Id there any way to use the bold the same way without the constant open mic and wind noise? Thank you

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  4 года назад

      Hey @Kayak there's a couple of things you can do here. First off she shouldn't be getting much (if any) wind noise from you so make sure if you're using the boom mic that the little yellow arrow is facing your mouth and MAYBE even use that bigger sponge cover that comes with it. If you're using the wired mic, just make sure it's right in front of your mouth. Moving on...there's a setting in the Cardo Connect app under "Volume Settings" called "Background Music Level" (or something like that), make sure she turns that all the way up so her music doesn't sink to the far background when you're mic opens up (from wind or your voice). Moving further...if you're using them in "DMC Intercom Mode" (preferred mode) there's is a "Mute" feature you can checkout and would work but if you really want the same ON/OFF intercom capability that you had with your Sena, do this: Use your Packtalks in "Bluetooth Intercom Mode" (see my video on this). When in Bluetooth Intercom Mode, you will push the button to activate the intercom, then push the button to close the intercom. This might be the way to go. WOW that got long sorry about that but I hope it makes sense and helps out!!

    My brother and I just bought the PackTalk Bold. We like being able to talk to each other when riding when we have something to say but also like to listen to our own music. Problem is the intercom stays on which forces one of us to push mute so our music plays. Problem is the only person that can reactivate the intercom is the one that hit mute. Example my brother hit mute but I want to talk to him. How do I ping/call/request to have him unmute so we can communicate?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  4 года назад

      In the Cardo Connect app, go to Setting, then Volume, and go all the way down until you see something like "Background Music Level" and raise that higher. Almost to max, actually. You shouldn't have to Mute either of your headsets (unless you truly want to ) when using them in DMC Intercom Mode. When you're not talking (and assuming your mics are in the correct position) the music should play at full volume. Then, the moment you talk, music dips to the background, then after about a second of no talking should go right back up to normal volume. Hope it helps!

      Steve West Thanks, hope it’s helpful! Good idea on the music share, I’ll try to get one going on that. In the meantime, I DO know that currently it can only be done in “Bluetooth Intercom Mode”, unfortunately. I hope that it will be doable in the far-better “DMC Intercom Mode” in the future though, that would be ideal and perfect.

      @Kevin Ho I'm not sure I follow (sorry man!). The "Private Chat" icon will always be assigned to someone, but it doesn't mean you have to use it. The little lock symbol is just showing the person who would be reached if you DID activate Private Chat. Hope that makes sense....and does that answer the question? Let me know if not and I'll answer some more. To me this is one of the most awesome features of this headset. No other model from any brand can do something like this; isolate one person for an (almost) instant one-on-one convo. Love it.

      @@Kevin_Ho70 Basically every person in your Group can select whoever it is that THEY want to enable Private Chat with. You can have yours set to private chat with "Mark" (lock icon next to him), but "Mark" could have HIS set to "Jane". Each person is in control of their own unit and it's settings. As for different Groups, yes, you will have a Private Chat ability within every group. Whatever member in that particular Group that YOU would want to Private Chat with (because they too can set theirs to whoever THEY want). Hope that helps man!

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  5 лет назад +2

      @@Kevin_Ho70 That's a tough one because I have ran into this as well. Mostly when trying to activate a Group that has a lot of people in it (switching between smaller groups seems to be spot-on for me). If you run into this, personally, I just create a new Group and be done with it. BUT, as a tip, I've learned that it's best to not have multiple Groups with the same exact people in it (because you might as well just create one Group that contains all of them!). For Example: if I had a Group that contained me and rider "1", and another Group that contains me, rider "1", and rider "2", and another Group that contains me, rider "1", rider "2", and rider "3"......that's not good. You would just want the one group that contained ALL 4 OF YOU. Because, when it's just you and rider "1"...that's gonna work (he belongs to that group). When it's you and riders "1" and "2", that's gonna work too! Having one group that has everyone in it is the way to go.....basically. Hope that makes sense and sorry for the long read!!

  • @nellyfive
    @nellyfive 5 лет назад

    First off, your videos are very helpful and I appreciate your time. I was wondering, if you're connect to 4 people, are you always hearing every sound they make? Or does one have to activate the intercom to speak to the group? Thank you.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  5 лет назад +4

      Thanks! So when you have a group in DMC Mesh, even if it's just 2 people, the mic is essentially always READY to activate. You don't hear everyone breathing and all that (thankfully), but the moment you speak it instantly activates and they hear it. It feels like an open-mic at all times, but somehow they have designed it to block unwanted background noise when no human voice is detected. As an example, when I'm riding with a couple other guys and nobody is talking, my music volume is up and I hear nothing from them. Say that goes on for an hour....then...the instant i say something, music volume dips and they hear what I'm saying (without the need to activate VOX or push a button like normal Bluetooth headsets operate). Sorry for the long-winded answer but I hope that makes sense!

    • @nellyfive
      @nellyfive 5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for the reply. I just had one more question. Is there a way to turn that feature off? I like to sing to my music while I’m riding, but I’m sure my brother doesn’t want to hear me jam out.

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  5 лет назад +1

      Lol yeah for sure. There’s a “Mute” feature that does just that. As of now it mutes your mic (so they don’t hear that singing) BUT it also takes you out of their conversation as well. They won’t hear you, but you can’t hear them either until you “unMute”, basically. Hoping they change that with an update...Mute my mic but I still hear them...that would be cool in my opinion.

      @iSean1 5 лет назад +1

      MotoGeek Freak I will have a look at some deerskin gloves, though I tend to prefer the armored type gloves and the deerskin gloves I have seen so far have been the touring types. I have a pair or Held Steve gloves that are kangaroo skin, I haven’t tried those. But I don’t wear them that often because again not armored. I have plenty of touchscreen friendly gloves that work well with my Garmin Zumo, but they just don’t seem to want to work with my phone. It might be because I have a glass screen protector on the phone? I hate to take it off to try and find it still doesn’t work. I do have an older phone around without the protecter though. I will experiment with that and also see if I can’t find some armored deerskin gloves. Would like to be able to use that App as well as REVER with the gloves on :)

    MotoGeek Freak, for rider and passenger only, what do you recommend, DMC or Bluetooth? Which one will be easier on battery?
    I'm coming from a G9. How do intercom calls start?
    Thanks!

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  6 лет назад +3

      I recommend “DMC Mode” for absolutely everything. It’s easier, more reliable, and more enjoyable than Bluetooth (from any brand) in every way. Coming from a G9 you will especially like it lol!! I did the same thing. To activate intercom calls you just literally talk. The activation is instant, even if you haven’t spoken for 3 hrs., and it doesn’t chop off the first words. If you’re listening to music, it will dim/lower to the background the moment either of you starts talking. It’s great. Two things to consider: battery life is a little less (say 9 hrs instead of 13 when in DMC Mode) and the price. If you’re looking to not spend much, I would look at their Freecom 2 Headset. It’s designed for rider/passenger only but it is a Bluetooth headset instead of DMC. Hope that helps a bit and good luck!!

    If you are in private mode, can you still here other group members talk? Or does private mode affect receiving as well as transmitting? Does private mode also place the other device in private mode also so that only you hear what they say?

    • @MotoGeekFreak
      @MotoGeekFreak  5 лет назад

      @LTVoyager when in Private Chat mode, you hear ONLY the person that you are privately chatting with. You don't hear any other member of the group and they don't hear you. It also places the other device (the one you're private chatting with) into the same mode. Basically, when activated, it's JUST the two participants who will hear/talk to each other. Couple of more things:
      -Each person has the ability to open and close a private chat
      -The headset is still using the strength of the "network" to reach the Private Chat person (the person you're chatting with can be beyond your units range but if still uses the other headsets in your group as signal repeaters to get to that person).
      -Just because your Private Chat is set to "Steve" when activated, his (Steve's) Private Chat might be set to "Jessica" when activated. You each can assign whatever person it is that YOU want to be able to reach privately within your group. Wow, long answer, sorry! Hope that helps out and good luck!
