People give soccer players a lot of grief. But my high school started doing this in the 90s. We started a soccer team my Sophomore year. Football coach was tired of missing extra points. Invite one of my friends from the soccer team. They bring him in practice, put him in pads. He drills a 35 yard field goal with pressure coming at him. Coach welcomes him onto the team on the spot. Only has to come to practice on Thursday and Friday games and can still play soccer. Makes sense to me.
our kicker in high school was a soccer player that practiced for like 20 minutes a day and then went home. i think he still has the record for around a 50-55 yard kick and he didnt miss his senior year outside of a couple blocks.
they get grief because they fake injuries and are the biggest cry babies in any single sport on the planet pretending to have an obliterated shin and then back in the game immediately is too common in the sport if you put any of them in pads to actually get tackled they would literally die. that’s why they get so much hate but being a good kicker isn’t the same thing those soccer guys can make the best field goal kickers ever but that doesn’t make them tough

While I got a major concussion in football, I dislocated my shoulder, torn ligaments in my ankles and got a few smaller concussions.

One of my neighbors use to hold the record for longest field goal in the college history. He made a 69 yrd field goal. Went on to play as a cowboy. He passed away last year but ill never forget when he showed me that ball. Incredible.

Yes he did but it also gave him an advantage. His "special" shoe was flat on the front and he kick straight on. That flat surface helped some but he still had to kick the ball.

Thing with 70 yard FG tries is it has to be at the end of either half, otherwise it's too risky. No guarantee the situation will arise for Aubrey (or Tucker) this season.
The main problem with a 70 hard FG is that you need to kick the ball shallow to get that much distance, and if there's a defensive line there, they'll block it.
That's fucking wild. This is obviously not a kick you're gonna take every time it's fourth and long at the 50 but even if it's only ever used at the end of a half that's an incredible weapon to have in your pocket.

UK person here. Obviously different balls, technique and aerodynamics, but yeah, footballer (as we say over here) have crazy control and distance, often with a moving ball, not a stationary one. 67 yards is not particularly long kicking a football, but like I see, the two skills aren't the same.
It’s all about stopping body parts to the other body parts work the way they should. I call it the brakes. When your pelvis runs into your lead femur you get a sling shot effect with the trail leg. Most don’t allow the femur to stop the pelvis and when the pelvis continues on so does the core and you will power and spin the motion out which causes a hook effect on the ball. That’s how he does it!

I once saw Shane Lectlure kick a 68 yard at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. Aggies were up by about 50 a that point in the game.
