I was at that Raiders game when Pryor ran one in from 93 yards. Think they won four games that season. That run and beating Pittsburgh was the high point of the year.

He wasn't much of a passer, though, unfortunately. If he was a bit more accurate and better at reading defenses than he actually was, he'd be in the hall of fame.
Secret base (RUclips channel) took a look at every long touchdown run in nfl history that they had film of and where the last defender drops out of the field of view. Most have a defender chasing until the end, sometimes the ball carrier is 5 or 10 yards from the end zone and they have the camera all to themselves. Steve bono has about 70 yards of his own tv show with not a defender in sight. He’s also like 36 in that I think and just soooo slow.

First clip with Alex Smith shows a perfect example of the horrible tackling that is still going on. The defender tries to knock the ball out of his hands instead of tackling him. You see this every week, someone getting an extra 10 or more yards because they were trying to knock the ball out. Michael Vick is the fasted QB in the 40 with a 4.33, so I think RG3's 4.41 is pretty damn good. He did the 110-meter hurdles: 13.46 (WR 12.8); 300-meter hurdles: 35.33 (WR 33.78, was 34.48 until 2020); and 400-meter hurdles 49.22 (WR 45.94)
Remember being at a Raiders practice back when Pryor was on the team. Watching him stride along the practice field was impressive, a long, big athlete with real speed - looked like a gazelle. Seeing that run, opening play mind you, vs. Pittsburgh was an awesome thing to see!
There were two from 1970 that were also over 70 yards. Greg Landry took a quarterback sneak for 76 yards in the Lions first game against the Packers, and Virgil Carter ran for 71 yards in the Bengals first game against the Browns (and fumbled at the end of the play).
Notice that Bono had no opposing players within camera view for essentially the entire run. It was a QB draw with a fake to Marcus Allen, whom everyone expected to get the ball in this situation. The Cardinals' had coach was Buddy Ryan, who designed the 46 defense in Chicago in the '80s. In the words of Jon Bois of Dorktown in the video "The majesty of Steve Bono's 76 yard touchdown run might never be seen in the NFL again", after the defense zeroed in on Allen, "Bono's touchdown was guaranteed" before he even passed the line of scrimmage even though he had the speed of an offensive lineman.
Cam had a historic 2015 season, winning the MVP and leading a dominant Panthers 15-1 to the Super Bowl. But despite that, his legacy will always be how he didn't go after the fumble.
Secret Base has a full video on the Steve Bono run, which they repeatedly refer to as one of the strangest plays in NFL history. I've seen it three times and still can't figure out if it's satire or not.
Most of these guys were good, or at least decent running QBs. Steve Bono, however, was a strict pocket passer and that one play accounted for more than 1/5 of his total career rushing yards in his 7 NFL seasons. His run was a case of his O-Line completely overwhelming the entire Cardinals defense within a few yards of the line of scrimmage. Bono himself looked confused as to what to do, hence his downfield blocker motioning him on.
I love these long runs for TD’s. I played football in High School and then Semi-Pro my longest TD run was 80 yards. I got lucky one defender got his hands on me but couldn’t wrap me up at about the 20 yard line but I was able to pull out of his grasp and score.
That Jackson highlight was hard to watch. He just forgot all of his identity in the AFC Championship game. As if he was so scared to do what he do and that is run.
Spagnuolo's pressure defense shut his ass down. Kansas City blitzed Jackson 20 times and posted a pressure rate of 37, sending rushers to fill every escape lane for Jackson. The results were four sacks, 3 of 11 on third-down conversions, 10 total points allowed and a dominant showing in time of possession in favor of the Chiefs (37:30 to 22:30). Jackson was at a total loss for most of the game. Some MVP.

Wow I understand Stewart and Jackson being in here but Steve Bono? And there was no one anywhere near him. Also, how did Vick not get one of these long runs?
Well to be fair he had the worst QB rating in the league in his last season. I think it was 49.2 or something. He lost his ability to throw the ball accurately, and defenses were wise to his fake handoff and QB run.
He did not stand for the national anthem. He was pissed he got benched. then he ran with the idea he was making a statement when others said it first. I saw that game.

I seem to remember the Ravens offered him a chance, but he acted like he was too good for them. He just didn't want to humiliate himself. Face it. He was done.
He was never blackballed, he simply wants to be the perennial victim. If he was any good he'd have had a job. No one thought he was any good until it became a political issue, then in retrospect he's Peyton Freaking Manning.
The Ravens offered him a chance and he acted like he was too good for them. He was only good when he was good, then he sucked, and he knew he sucked. That's why he never played again.
Cam Newton's inside/outside deke toward the end of his run, allowing him to make the end zone, was poetry in motion. These might have been the longest but not necessarily the best QB runs of all time. that first play is prototypical jets. Have your secondary outran by an aging QB, get 2 dudes within arms reach, have one miss and the other straight up trip on his face.
Bandwagon KC fans - “who is that is the first clip?”
You probably want to edit that so it makes more sense.
Wow I understand Stewart and Jackson being in here but Steve Bono? And there was no one anywhere near him. Also, how did Vick not get one of these long runs?
I thought Vick would have 2 or 3 on the top 10 list.
@@andyauten628Or Randall Cunningham.
The Steve Bono run was a result of lazy defenders
you hear people dump on colin kaepernick for “football reasons” and then every meaningful quarterback moment seems to feature him at the top
Including mixing Politics & Religion with work and the public!

Nice conspiracy theory.
Until you consider Kap started the entire season in which he protested.
You think the moon landing was staged?

#8 looked like the Sea Horse in Sharktale. All by himself...and trips up😅
Daniel Jones had one of the slowest 80 yard runs I’ve ever seen in my entire life of watching football one of the saddest excuses to ever play QB in the NFL 🤣🤣
You mean one of the saddest excuses to ever sign a huge new contract!
@@purplesprigs nah he’s a QB so he was going to sign a big deal regardless he a sad excuse to ever plan QB in the NFL he needs to be in either Canada or the USFL
actually Daniel Jones has a surprisingly high top speed, he's just awkward as hell. But he's not really a slow runner
Wow. Usually Kaepernick just takes a knee. Cant believe he ran so far. What team does he play for now?
The Social Justice Warriors.
Two Chiefs QBs make the top 10 list neither being Mahomes was surprising.
And both were former 49ers QBs.
That was FUN and EXCITING! Thanks!
Josh Allen's run should've been added
it was 52
Why would a run not in the top 10 make it into a top 10 video?
@@JAMESDAVIES-s5q I honestly didn't even notice it was top 10. I am slow
@@kerplunk10788but reflective!
who is the opposing team against the Steelers on Kordell Stewart's run? I can't recognize the uniforms.
panthers
Steve Bono!
That run by Alex Smith was great and then all of a sudden it's like he remembered he was white.
It's not NFL but nobody beats Eric Crouch's 105 yard run against Missouri in 2001.
0:44 cam Newton looked like a monster vs those db's. Those db's were tiny compared to him. Dude was big!
Its a shame the NFL effectively blackballed Colin Kaepernick. This shouldve been illegal. I know he could've started for a lot of teams who couldve really used him
I seem to remember the Ravens offered him a chance, but he acted like he was too good for them. He just didn't want to humiliate himself. Face it. He was done.
Go woke go away from football.
@@BillyJoBuck You're a real smart guy
Colin has nobody to blame but himself for what happened.
He was never blackballed, he simply wants to be the perennial victim. If he was any good he'd have had a job. No one thought he was any good until it became a political issue, then in retrospect he's Peyton Freaking Manning.
You should do one with the longest runs of slowest quarterbacks. Manning, Brady, rivers etc
Kap should have gotten another shot. He had the arm strength and speed and probably could have gotten to the SB again!
Imagine being a Nike athlete comparing NFL to slavery when nike manufactures products in sweatshops
I had watched that game on tv and I really thought Kap was going to be the greatest. He sure screwed up what could have been.
@@lfecohe screwed up nothing.
Mediocre at best.
I remember some outstanding runs by Patrick Mahomes early in his career when he was more apt to tuck it in and take off. And of course, no list would be complete without the magnificence of Randall Cunningham.
